  1. the hole in the intake would've been blocked when the hose was taken off, so you should be able to feel the plug (if you can get your arm down the side of it)
  2. the ticking could be the fan hitting on the intercooler piping (if it is a hybrid style cooler)
  3. by the time you get your p's turbo 33's will probably be cheap enough for you to buy 1, but you won't legally be able to drive it. if you want a NA skyline as your first car then get that. then once you are off your p's either sell it and buy a turbo skyline, or drop the motor out and put a turbo motor in. here are some of the mods you have to do- buy the turbo, intercooler and piping, and manifolds and exhaust buy a new clutch get a thicker headgasket put on get a new ecu (to have it run well) new fuel pump have oil and water lines drilled into the head now if you go an aftermarket turbo setup, you are looking at $2500-$3000 just for the turbo, which is the same money as a turbo front cut. but the turbo motor will handle much higher amounts of boost. an the boost you could run on the NA motor with a turbo, you probably would only just make it to the power of a stock turbo motor, if you were lucky.
  4. it could be that the AFM was damaged, so now it is making the car run richer. but you could also try resetting the ecu to see if that helps.
  5. i can see this thread getting closed pretty quick. you are best to look in the NA threads. i'm sure there is a thread in there about it. but i'd say it would be easier to get a turbo motor and put that in than turbo the motor in there.
  6. don't have a pic or anything, but it runs from the bov (obviously) under the 'cold' cooler pipe down to the intake pipe (between the air filter and turbo)
  7. 2500rpm is way to low to launch with. you are leaving the line off boost. my mate was launghing his 33 at 3500, then i told him to go to 4500 and he ran his quickest time of the night, and his 60ft times dropped from 2.4's to a 2.2
  8. do you mean where the plumback hose runs?
  9. where do you get new gaskets from should it turn out to be that?
  10. i'd get an aftermarket gauge to be sure.
  11. NGK part number = OTDFZ-P1P that is for r32 o2 sensor. $184 retail.
  12. phillips plus 50's phillips blue vision give off a white-ish light, but it is only as bright as a standard bulb. i currently use them and they are better in the skyline than in other cars i've owned. i also have phillips gt150's in my other car and they work well. give off a white-ish light, but are yellower than the blue vision, and from the front have a blue reflection in them. i'm not 100% sure, but i don't think BATMBL's bulbs are legal either. i don't think they have been ADR approved for road use, which means if you have a crash at night where you hit someone or something, your insurance company can say that your lights were part of the cause and refuse to pay up.
  13. the guys in tokyo wouldn't give a shit what the yanks think. they'd just tell them to contact mitsubishi in america.
  14. turbotech ($22) controller. and it only does it when cold. once it starts to warm up it goes away.
  15. and need to be recharged after each run.
  16. that could be cool. but as i say in every electric car thread, they need to make the battery life longer. otherwise you would either carry spare batteries, or make a long trip take a few days.
  17. an adaption of the nra slogan "cars don't kill people, people kill people" letting people make 7 or 8 mistake in half an hour and still get their licence is the problem. it uesd to be 3. why don't we go back to that system?
  18. yeah. i use the handbrake sometimes. i find it works really well. was tought it by my mechanic. he runs 1.6 60 foot times in his sr powered sigma on sticky street tyres.
  19. looks the same as the x-force dump/front pipe. depending on the cost of shipping (and currency conversion) it could bo worth finding someone in NZ that does the x-force stuff and getting a price. and if you were getting an exhaust shop to fit it, they usually charge less to fit something you bought off them.
  20. going to go round and check the tension of all the bolts tomorrow, and see if there is any broken ones.
  21. with a terminal speed of 102mph at a high 14 pass, there is certainly room to improve the mph as well. not by much, but maybe 1 or 2 mph.
  22. after you use turps on the outside you will have to wipe it off and sort of polish it, as turps leaves a residue too.
  23. you should also know that the crystal vision bulbs are illegal for road use. so are the diamond vision. blue vision is the whitest legal bulbs in the phillips range.
  24. well they should recall all of their catalogues that say they do.
  25. either way it wouldn't be as bad as a guy i know with a rb20 with a t70 on it. it hits 1 bar at 5900rpm, then has full boost for 1300rpm to its 7200rpm redline. was good (bad) enough a 14.4 1/4 mile time.
