  1. The way I read it, you can tell a driver to save fuel, you just can't tell them how much. But there is also a simple fix to this. Fuel the car with enough fuel to race hard for the whole race, instead of for 90% of the race and hope for a safety car.As for telling them how fast others are, they can still do it, just not as far as sectors go. They can give lap times. Personally I think the changes are a good thing. Less micro managing, more just driving
  2. I thought the Magnussen penalty was borderline. He did kind of open the steering a bit mid corner, but it's a tight corner to start with. There has been much worse running people off the road at other tracks that haven't received penalties. Was a great drive by Dan. Pity he started poorly and got pushed off at the first chicane.
  3. I'm pretty sure there are more than 2 mechanics on the sunny coast. I think there's someone at kunda park who deals with imports a bit. I'm assuming you are wanting someone down that end of the coast (and not up noosa way). I don't know many down that way. It may be worth taking to it an auto electrician instead of a mechanic though. It's probably a wiring issue and not a mechanical issue.
  4. So the only a few of the electronics will stop working?
  5. Stalling is different to just turning the car off. Turning the car off cuts the fuel and spark and the engine simply spins to a stop as it can't overcome the compression. Stalling stops the engine dead by stopping the crank from spinning, despite any combustion forces on the pistons. Totally different forces on the engine. But not enough to do any damage......... unless of course you have the wheels clamped, are bouncing it off the limiter at WOT and simply dump the clutch. Then something's not going to like it very much
  6. That was just one of the stupid things he said. Was also funny hearing the obviously scripted speeches from Lewis and nico in the post quali press conference. Team this, harmony that.
  7. I know they were using their Monza wing, I just didn't realise that other teams weren't also using low down force wings
  8. I think that redbull showed at spa that they finally have a car that can hold it's own in a straight line for once, so I think that they should go well at Monza and be able to fend off Williams (well Dan will anyway, lol). Merc will still be at the pointy end (unless they crash into each other at turn 1), and Williams will be there as well.
  9. Yeah could just be a fender bender. My old 33 had been in a crash like that. No wrinkles in the strut towers or any of that stuff you see from a big impact, but it had those chrome lights, the front bar had been replaced and the bonnet freshly resprayed
  10. Could be that it's been in a crash and that's what it the lights were replaced with. I've seen a few 33s that have had front end damage and the lights replaced with new ones (sourced by the panel shop) and the replacement ones had the chrome surrounds.
  11. My mate with a 2004 mps bought a head unit from the US that has gps, Bluetooth, touchscreen, dvd player, etc for about $300 and it's made to fit in the dash like the stock one (made by a company that does standard shape head units as well as custom ones).
  12. If it actually gets driven up the driveway, then just change the engine oil and filter and put some fresh fuel in.
  13. If you feel like saving a bunch of money, get copper plugs instead of irridium ones. Bcpr5es is the part number
  14. A mate of mine's got a mazda 3 mps. I had a drive of it. Goes like stink and very comfy. No dicky euro indicators/wipers either.
  15. I'm still shocked at the straight line speed of the redbull. Vettel was able to hold off both the merc and the Williams in a straight line, even when they had drs. In previous years he would've been on trouble before he even made it past the drs line. So we might actually see the rbr cars doing well on the straights at monza
  16. I'm not really surprised they can tell the difference. It's only the first season of these engines, so getting the engine life up there is still under development. Plus I wouldn't be surprised if the turbos are wearing out faster than expected due to the ERS system being connected to it
  17. Will definitely bring rbr back into things, since grip is something they do well (unlike straight line speed.......)
  18. Yeah, it's just bad luck that he was born without talent......
  19. Yep, merc 1 and 2, Williams 3 and 4. Unless redbull have snuck a Mercedes engine into their cars over the break, I doubt we'll even see them on the 3rd row. They'll lose bulk time on the straight after eau rogue
  20. Saw a 32 just north of gympie last weekend, plates were ZENO. I was the guy riding along the shoulder of the highway past the duck ponds. Also saw a 32 in noosa during the week. Plates were KIL32. It had no bonnet, no front left quarter panel or front bar. Sounded very unhealthy and smelt super rich. Judging by how much trouble the driver had getting it off the line, I'd say it was well down on power
  21. I'm having issues with the app (android) randomly closing every few minutes. Happened about 10 times last night (while trying to write a post, losing what I'd typed each time). Just happened it to me again just then. It's only just started doing it in the past day or 2
  22. Yeah my bad. Meant to say mclaren, not Williams.
  23. I think Kimi is suffering from the same issues as Vettel. Their driving style simply doesn't suit the current reg cars. That plays a big part in how well they can drive the car. Vettel especially is used to a car with uber downforce (compared to dan who came from a car with less downforce and grip), so his ability to just turn it in at high speed and just rely on the car to grip and go just isn't helping. He's having to drastically alter his style. Just look at how much the cars move around this year. They're using more opposite lock in the dry than they used to use in the wet. But having said all that, kimi certainly isn't getting hosed by Alonso everytime. Yes he's getting beaten, but on about half of the races he's only been a place or 2 behind. As for rbr doing so well in the constructors championship, Dan has won a race and been at the pointy end all season. And when Vettel has actually finished he's been up there too (Dan's had 3 podiums, seb has had 2). Williams is the only other team (other than mercedes obviously) to have more than 1 podium, and they only have 2. For a team severely lacking straight line speed, rbr are doing pretty bloody well.
  24. To avoid this, simply don't connect to the internet before playing the game. Then it won't check for updates
  25. Great work by Williams to get a front row lockout. Going to make for an interesting race. We'll get to see how the mercs handle traffic (hamo) when they are actually racing for position and not just having the traffic move out of the way. We'd sometimes see Vettel really struggle in traffic and only blaze away once in open air. Wonder if the mercs will do the same.
