  1. yeah as above, 6 speed doesn't mean it's a 5 speed box with an extra gear above 5th. the overall spread of ratios isn't that much different to a 5 speed. as for sitting at 3000rpm at 100kmh for hours, it isn't an issue. (and fuel usage isn't an issue either). they were designed for this. pretty much every 4 cylinder car on the market will do it. skylines aren't some mystical creature that is totally different to every other car on the market. they are just another car. of course when you compare it to the big aussie 6's and 8's that sit on about 1800rpm at 100kmh it seems high, but they only rev to 5000-5500rpm, and have a lot more low down torque, so they can do it. doing 100kmh at 1800rpm in a small turbo 6 would be horrible. you'd be dropping down a gear or 2 at the slightest little hill, or even if driving into a headwind, lol.
  2. well you didn't actually ask a question, simply made a statement.
  3. i think that even elton john would say that's too gay to wear
  4. most fuel system cleaning products are a bit of a gimmick. if you want to see gains then change your filter and have your injectors removed and professionally cleaned.
  5. with those mods he should be putting out enough power to give a NA skyline a scare on a dyno, let alone on a track in a car that weighs about 200kg less. should easily get into the 14's without too much trouble. and yeah that's the poncams. they aren't that lumpy either. good street cam.
  6. no, that is for the r33. the r34 has the 25 at the front, so it's a 25GT or 25GT-t
  7. i'd start by cleaning the AAC/IAC valve. this controls the idle, as well as how much extra air is put in when accessories (such as the air con) is turned on. do a search to find the thread on how to clean it
  8. i could write another long post pointing out the negatives of using both the SR20 and the 6 speed, but i could be bothered. just stick a rb25det in there and be done with it. a sr20 with 6 speed and taller diff is going to be crap to drive. the r34 is heavier than the s15 so 6th gear isn't going to be that useful. the slightest hill and you'd probably have to either floor it, or drop back a gear.
  9. my guess is that it was done at an EPA testing station/certified independant workshop, not just a random exhaust shop, so they would've gone over the entire car (as they are required to).
  10. i used to be able to get my magna trip computer to do that just by flooring it up a hill in 1st gear (full throttle, high rpm and low speed = high fuel usage)
  11. tried any of the auctions?
  12. yeah it would go from being "there's a defect station on <insert road here>" to "there's a RBT on <insert road here>", and to be honest, we don't want drunk drivers avoiding RBT's. those dumbasses need to get fisted by the long arm of the law
  13. +1. keen to know what cams (i'm guessing most likely poncams) and whether it's running a nistune as well. i want to put some poncams and a nistune into the missus SSS but i'm not allowed (plus can't afford it)
  14. +1 for ecutalk cable. i have one and it's great.
  15. ahaha, yeah, your right foot is the best boost controller there is. mine was always set to full boost, lol.
  16. home made varex still isn't legal. any muffler with some form of variable restrictor has to be tested at it's loudest, which is why the varex aren't legal. moral of the story: don't be another one of those dopey P plate skyline owners driving around with a stupidly loud exhuast that sounds like arse (to everyone but you) giving the skyline community a bad name. can't wait for school holidays to be over.........
  17. you seem to be a bit mis-understanding of the 6 speed gearboxes. they haven't simply taken a 5 speed box and added in a taller gear for 6th. what they have actually done is made every gear shorter than the 5 speed. you will find that 5th gear on the 6 speed box is a 1:1 ratio, which is the same as 4th on the 5 speed box, and 6th on the 6 speed box is only about 5% lower than 5th in the 5 speed box. so in reality, if you were at 2500rpm in 5th in the 5 speed, you would only drop down to 2375rpm in 6th in the 6 speed. (that is based off using the same diff ratio)
  18. since the VIN number has a C in it (ECR33) then it means it has hicas. if it didn't have hicas it would just be ER33. as for ABS and passenger airbags, according to my information they were both optional extras on s1's.
  19. don't need a "skyline" mechanic. any exhaust shop will be able to sort the exhaust out. source the airbox yourself and fit it yourself (easy to do). buy a stock bov and fit it yourself also, or get a mate who is handy with the tools to do it. as for the EMS, is it just a piggyback or a full ecu? (i'm not familiar with them). if a full ecu then again, source a stock ecu yourself. will take 5 mins to swap over.
  20. they didn't simply bump the plug when they did it, unplugging the motor? another possibility is that they broken the door open sensor, although that would be more evident by the interior light staying on, and possibly a light on the dash. however i think the horn will also beep when you try and lock the car if it thinks the door is still open.
  21. might've just been driving on the motorways through the city.......
  22. i think s1 had is as an option and so they all had the fuse locations. if there is an alloy box at the back of the engine bay with brake lines going into it then you have abs. you can see it here behind the power steering reseviour
  23. if you are somewhat handy then yes you can fit it yourself.
  24. you seem to have misunderstood what i was saying. i was more meaning that power was a by-product of economy. so if you take an engine and make it more efficient then you will gain power as well.
  25. possibly. best off looking in the WA section. oh and welcome
