  1. you wouldn't think that lowndes would be so close in the championship since you usually see whincup at the pointy end of the field. seems as though the few races i missed during the year were the ones where lowndes did well. would love to see lowndes get up and win the championship (would make up for when he should've won it back in a ford but rick kelly and skaife kept bumping him off the road at phillip island), but i don't think he will do it. whincup is better at qualifying so doesn't have to fight through traffic as much as lowndes, although lowndes' fight back yesterday in the rain was pretty good. on a side note, it was interesting watching the masters racing before the v8 qualifying. pretty impressive for old rigs. only a second or 2 off the pace of what the group A GTR did back in the day. plus they sound awesome.
  2. although speedo error usually makes it look closer to 190-200kmh on the speedo
  3. it also only ran 9" wide tyres while the GTR ran 11" wide tyres, so you can't accurately compare the 2. they were in different classes. in the rwd vs awd argument it is worth considering the performance/lap times of the rwd porsches vs the awd 911 turbo. you will find that in most cases the 911 turbo (awd) is slower than the lighter, less powerful GT3. have a look through the nurburgring lap times and you will see that the 911 turbo comes in after the GT2 (rwd, but has more power), the carrera GT (obviously) and the GT3 RS (lighter, less pwoerful, RWD)
  4. no, major league baseball
  5. might as well tip a packet of potato chips into the ECU. will gain you about as much power
  6. i had read the comments and my first sentence agrees with what you were saying. the rest was just a general troll to see if v8 haters (such as GTR fanbois who are stuck in 1992) would bite, LOL.
  7. conspiracy theorists would also say that RBR are simply giving vettel a better car to start with, and now that he has won the championship they aren't willing to simply make webber's suddenly otherwise it would prove that they were deliberately sabotaging his year...
  8. my guess is yes ok, i'll give you a somewhat more in depth answer, albeit in point form - ethanol has a different stoichmetric value (the ideal air/fuel ratio) so you need to run a much richer AFR - ethanol makes a smaller bang because it burns colder so without a tune you will make much less power - once the tuned is richened up then you will make similar power - corrosive properties as mention, however not as bad as some people make out. - fuel economy is much worse than regular fuel (as mentioned, you need to run it much richer) to the tune of about 30% which negates the lower price
  9. if you have the stock bov on and a pod filter then you will get the bov noise, simply because the sound is coming back out through the pod. if you want it to be quiet then you need to put a stock airbox back on
  10. you could also say that webber/his engineers aren't as good at setting up the car as good as vettel.
  11. only because they are too stupid to realise that comparing a car from 1 racing category to another is pointless. anyone with half a brain will realise that it is the category regulations that play a massive part in how fast the car is rather than the actual potential of the car. without regulations i'd hazard a guess that a v8 supercar could nudge the 2 minute dead barrier.
  12. funny you should say that. a guy i work with hit a wombat in a datsun 1200 ute on the highway. tore half the front off the car, LOL
  13. button is good under brakes though. i think webber knew that if it came to a battle of the late brakers then button would win. no point binning a car trying to make the pass. he isn't massa or hamo.......
  14. WTF is a roof wing? and if you want to get off the line quicker then don't put in coilovers unless they have a soft spring rate. if you go for ones with high spring rates then all you will do is wheelspin off the line. soft springs = more weight transfered onto the rear wheels = more traction
  15. the loopholes in the system are being closed all the time. if it was a loophole that was around a few years ago then you can pretty much garantee that it will be closed by now.
  16. baaaaaaaaaaahahahahaha, and he should've welded the floor in instead of just bolting it in
  17. pfft, it's the second best one i have seen and i too have only seen 2
  18. service manual won't give you much to go off if you don't also have the car near you. best bet is for your brother to simply check all fuses. will take a few mins to find the problem. if he can't find a blown one then he is best simply taking it to an auto electrician and paying a few dollars for them to sort it out. there is a small chance that there is much more serious issues than just a blown fuses. also, moral of the story, disconnect the battery before charging.
  19. if you are driving a restricted vehicle on your P's then the insurance company may give you a policy (so the car is insured), however in the event of a crash they may simply refuse to pay out. meaning you effectively have no insurance. if someone wow, talk about low goals in life, LOL as for getting an exemption, i don't like your chances. "it's been my dream to own one" isn't a valid excuse. you got your licence well after the laws came into effect, so no chance of saying you owned the car before the laws came into effect, and you are buying the car once you already have a licence, so it shows that you bought the car knowing full well that you couldn't drive it. long story short, you have bugger all chance of getting an exemption.
  20. welcome. please learn to use punctuation as my head hurts after reading your post.
  21. also did a 57.799 in a lambo gallardo LP560 CBF'd doing any more.

  23. completely different rules apply for kit cars to mass production cars. same with hot rods when run on limited rego
  24. doesn't matter what condition they are in, they are still a dirty old r32.
  25. so you're going to drive it illegally for 2.5 years? you may want to speak to your insurance company first. you will find that while they may offer you cover in order to get money off you, if you crash it then they won't pay out.
