an aussie winning the WC on a respol honda? there's a first for everything.................. lol

and if you ever lose your job and have to go on unemployment will you still be pissed off at the goverment? or what about if you are driving on a highway, which was paid for by tax money? or if you send your kids to a public school, which surprise, surprise, is also paid for with tax money. we could always scrap the tax system so we don't have to pay any tax, but this would just mean that it would become a user pays system. no medicare, all roads would be toll roads, all schools would be private schools, no public hospitals, etc.

on a normal track the sprint tyres are about 2 seconds faster than the normal tyres. on a track like bathurst they would be even faster.
-
exactly. that's simply rev matching. no racing car driver double clutches..... unless he also drives the transporter to the race track.
-
put the sprint tyres on the supercar and you can make that 4 to 5 seconds slower

you can't compare a car that can be tuned to unlimited specs to a car that has to be tuned to very strict regulations. hell the v8 supercars have quite a bit of ballast strategically placed around the car because without it they would be under the 1355kg minimum weight regulation. it is a pointless comparison. i'm sure there are plenty of privately owned, non race spec commodores and falcons out there that would give v8 supercars a run for their money. hell if someone bought a v8 supercar, bumped up the rev limit by 1000rpm, took the balast out, put on some different tyres and went back to running premium unleaded fuel (or even a race fuel) and tuned the engine up to the way they were before the rules regarding engine life (how many engines they could use in a season, etc), then you would have cars that would make teams like 888, HRT and FPR look like privateers at their first race meeting. and no i'm not a hater, i'm a realist. any racing category has strict regulations. this is why lap records don't get smashed every year, and why some f1 lap records are nearly 10 years old. technology improves, but they generally don't make the cars much faster, just more reliable. comparing cars from different categories, or a privately modified race car with a categorized race car is just plain stupid. you also can't compare the budget of a race car with a privately modified car because the majority of the race car budget is spent trying to get the most out of what they have to work with.
-
same. i'd gladly pay for bathurst as well if they ever do it.
-
and imagine the potential of a v8 supercar if they were lightened and didn't have strict regulations regarding, well, everything. with the soft compound/sprint tyres they use and even small changes to the regulations the v8 supercars would be doing sub 2 minute laps.

RBR figured that he will be the last of the front runners by the first corner anyway, so might as well get some fresh rubber for the race.

yeah flushing a radiator does little to tell you if it's blocked. the build up that blocks it isn't easily shifted. you could liken it to degreasing an engine using just plain water (and not a pressure cleaner). proper radiator flushes don't do much either. using the same analogy, they are like using a weak degreaser. they will take off any light oil, but won't do anything to the baked on grease (now it's starting to sound like a dishwasher detergent ad)

oh and i hooked the ps3 up to the modem via ethernet cable. downloaded the 1192mb update in under 20 mins.

people have gotten too used to drifting in games where any 12 year old can hold a slide for ages. that is far from realistic. so now when they play games that make it realistic (read hard) to hold a long drift and accurately link corners they have a sook and say that the physics are crap. the physics of real life are also crap. oh not this old chestnut again. GT5 wasn't in development for 5 years. first they made GT5 prologue. then they scrapped all the physics and started over, plus they also made GT for PSP at the same time as GT5. so realistically GT5 was only in development for about 3 years. secondly, did polyphony say that they started developing GT5 the moment they finished GT4? i think you will also find that turn 10/microsoft is a bigger company, with more staff, than polyphony

on gtplanet it said that the spa (and some go-kart track) pack DLC was $5 or something like that. that was probably USD. i think the full pack with cars, tracks, etc was about $12

people need to remember that they are a business, not a charity. they could charge a lot more than they are. a lot of people ignore a lot of things when comparing the price of crude oil to what it was many years ago. they think that if a barrel of crude costs the same today as it did back in 2000 then a litre of fuel should as well. they ignore the fact that all other aspects of fuel production (wages, transport costs, other ingredients) have all risen, plus inflation, so fuel will as well. fuel will never be as cheap as it was unless some massive oil field is discovered (highly unlikely). we have it pretty lucky here. the australian government takes a smaller cut (through tax) than a lot of countries. do a bit of research of fuel prices in europe and you will see that a lot of countries are paying double what we are here. i have a wheels magazine from back in the late 90's where they took a commodore through europe and said that fuel was something like $2 a litre. that was back when fuel here was well under $1 a litre. if i was earning 80k a year i'd be extremely happy. the missus and my combined income is only a bit over half that and we can survive, even with paying $100 a week in fuel and servicing a loan (left over from the business) that costs about $1600 a month, and then all other living expenses on top of that. people who are actually pretty well off like to complain about how hard done by they are. *waits for the usual "well you should've gone to uni" retort that people who went to uni use, neglecting the fact that if everyone went to uni then there wouldn't be anyone to build or fix the cars they drive, or the houses they live in, etc

i wasn't saying you couldn't daily the gtr, but if you were wanting a daily then the 34 is the better option for running costs, maintenance, etc.
-
you gotta pay for it though.
-
when asking the question of "r32 gtr or r34 gt-t" you have to ignore all the fanbois who just blindly say "go the GTR" and ask yourself what you want from the car. if it is going to be driven daily and you just want something with a bit of get up and go, then go the r34. if you want something to drive on the weekend but not on a daily basis, then go the gtr.

you might want to look up what he is talking about. as of next year the tax free threshold will be 18k, plus a low income tax offest ontop of that. this is to make up for the carbon tax. anywho, fuel prices haven't jumped too much up here. i went past a woolies servo in noosa at lunch that was $1.549, but went past others on my way home that were under $1.50. i filled up for $1.457 but i passed a servo when i got closer to home that was $1.449. will fill up the missus car there tomorrow if they haven't put the price up. it isn't uncommon for there to be a 5 to 8 cent a litre difference between noosa and gympie. the funny thing is that it varies as to which is cheaper. when i first started my job in feb, gympie was cheaper by a fair bit. then it was a bit more, then a lot more and now it's back to being cheaper. the price only really affects me because in a normal week i do 500kms just to and from work, but over the next few weeks i'll be working 6 days a week, so that will go up to 750kms. this week i did 5 days. did nearly 700kms between fill ups (filled up last week at noosa, filled up today in gympie). cost me $88 (i get under 9L/100kms, which isn't that bad for a dirty old vt wagon with 220,000kms on the clock). all that aside, i am more concerned about how much some people pay for bottled water and then complain about the price of fuel, LOL

just saw that in the DLC content coming out next week there will be Spa Francorchamps (with weather effects)

webber would've got on the podium before vettel if vettel hadn't crashed into him.

most automotive shops will sell the rubber under body spray.

+1 for bumper cam as for buying a new modem, i really don't care that much. i pretty much never play online (only do the seasonal events)

anyone else think that forza fans are like apple fans?
-
i think you are over estimating the performance of a NA skyline. they are only a low to mid 15 second car

could be the ignitor, but most likely the crank angle sensor. if it is dodgy it won't register that the engine is turning over, so won't spark.
