fkn lol yeah. the holdens have to be cut in half and widened (or is it lengthened?) so that they can meet the blueprint regs. as for parts, yeah there are only a handful of teams who actually make their own parts. back in the day larry perkins used to be the go to guy for holden engines. they were pretty much the most powerful. and DJR was the ford team to supply a lot of the ford teams. not sure if 888 still make stuff for the ford teams or not (given that a lot of the componentry is the same between the 2 i'd say that they do). a mate of mine used to work for 888 as a fabricator in their last year with ford, might see if he knows.

lol yeah. they all like to talk about qualifying times but don't realise that the race laps done were about 6 or 8 seconds slower than qualifying times because they basically turned the engine into a grenade for qualifying. these days they are only about 1 or 2 seconds slower than qualifying laps. if you were to put the GTR that won back in 92 in todays race it would already have been lapped, probably 2 or 3 times.

not really. smart preventative maintenance is things like changing the thermostat or fuel filter or timing belt. things that if things go wrong they can cause damage to the engine. changing coil packs if they are working fine isn't preventing any damage. you could almost liken it to changing your tyres when they are only half worn rather than waiting until they are getting closer to the wear markers.

quick question with the cold tyres excuse, if you have a 300zx, which do you go with? cold tyres or engine out? or is cold tyres the reason, engine out the solution?

yeah. same as how the GTR fanbois would go on about how it took until last year to break the race record, despite the fact that the average lap done under race conditions has been much faster than the GTR for many years, just safety cars slowed the race down. LOL.

that is rare though, because while the time is shorter, the distance that you are accelerating is actually longer. lower 60ft time means you are going faster after 60ft, so you will be going faster after 400m.

that's pretty normal.

may be that your radiator is blocked (doing a flush won't help this, would need to be professionally cleaned or a new radiator). it may also be that while your thermostat is opening at the right temp, it simply isn't opening far enough. i'd start with a new thermostat and then go from there.

general rules is that every 0.1 you drop off your 60' time = 0.2 off your ET. with decent tyres and a good launch you should be able to get down to around a 2.0 second launch. hell i was able to do a 2.187 second 60' in a fwd magna, and i was only launching at 2500rpm. i had my tyres at about 18psi.
