  1. exactly. i've seen plenty of dyno readouts from small cars that are higher than the quoted figures for v8's and things like the xr6t. there's no way a 2.5L turbo 6 making under 200rwkw is making 30% more torque than a 4.0L turbo 6 that makes 270kw at the fly. a rb25 making around 200kw would probably be making no more than 400nm at a guess, probably less though.
  2. i think DRS at monza was a bit of a let down. the fact that so many people were sitting on the limiter it made it a bit of a useless assist (as proved by hamo). was good to hear that the commentators are also sick of the tools finger
  3. just watched vettels pole lap on tv. as the dopes (presenters) mentioned, he spends a lot of time on the limiter on the first straight, and a bit on the back straight.
  4. welcome mate. good luck trying to find a car for under $500 though. even a rolling shell will probably go for more than that, unless it has been damaged and isn't repairable, or it's stolen. also anything that is in that sort of state would cost a lot of money to get going, much, much more than what you would buy a complete car for
  5. i haven't heard anything about it, and there is nothing about it on the QLD transport website either. if you have your L's already then it wouldn't affect you anyway. as for putting in racing seats, don't bother in an NA. the stock skyline seats are good and you'd just look like a cock having one in a NA. even in a turbo they are a bit stupid unless you actually go to the track. to make them legal you need to get them engineered. as to whether they are a legal modification for a P plater, i'm not sure. wouldn't surprise me if they weren't.
  6. i wasn't talking about a shift kit, i was talking about strengthening the internals.
  7. i reakon it was a team thing to help get vettel to win the championship ASAP. once that's done and dusted then i think they might let mark have a chance at winning to make sure they can cement his place at number 2 in the championship (forever number 2, LOL)
  8. pretty sure they will still have pretty much a full range of new tyres. they only did 1 qualifying session after all, so they would've only used 2 sets of tyres at most.
  9. it would probably cost more than a turbo trans. being an auto trans though, you should be able to get one pretty cheap, unlike the manual boxes.
  10. not too sure on shift kits, but i have a feeling that they may actually cause you to break something sooner. they put more stress on the gearbox. i could be wrong though.
  11. if the car is tuned for 91 ron fuel (like most NA cars are) then you shouldn't be getting any knock running 91 octane fuel, unless the car is leaning out due to a fuel system issue (blocked injectors, lines, filter, or dying fuel pump), or the fuel timing has been advanced or some sort of mechanical issue (such as hot spots in the cylinders). if you were to advance the timing when you put the higher octane fuels in then you will see gains, but if you run it dead stock then you won't see any gains.
  12. check your coolant level to start with (when the car is cold obviously). if it is low then it is most likely coolant. does look suspiciously like coolant though.
  13. is it an auto? trans cooler won't do much to strengthen the box (and won't do shit on a manual, don't think you can even fit one) as it comes down the the strength of the internals and generally not the heat. heat is usually more of an issue with constant acceleration/power, such as towing or drag racing where they load the gearbox up before launching, but even then it's marginal.
  14. yeah nissan put a different manifold on the NA for a reason
  15. cause doing fully sick mods will always gain killerwasps......... /sarcasm
  16. any time anyone is within 100m of hamo on the track they are probably wetting themselves wondering when he will take them out, LOL
  17. would love to see him out qualify him and someone from another team (without it being from mechanical issue) as well
  18. well done danny to out qualify "looitzi" by about 1/4 of a second.
  19. so webber is still running an old engine? interesting move by red bull to make sure that vettel has more chance of beating him.....
  20. try just jap (justjap.com). they have them in stock, $42 a side http://www.justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=18578&cat=318&page=1 and http://www.justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=18577&cat=318&page=1
  21. and all of which = bugger all actual gain in power (may feel like it has gained power, but it might be 1 or 2kw at most)
  22. you might want to add a 0 to the end of the price for a 'drivetrain' from a GT-t wreck, unless you are simply talking about the diff and not the gearbox. generally the gearbox sells for more than the actual engine. as for what you need, look in the how to turbo a skyline thread. it has been covered many times. whether the engine is a neo or not is a minor detail. all the procedures are the same between a neo and a non neo.
  23. so you are trying to do a burnout by dumping the clutch in 2nd or 3rd gear from a standing start? well for starters unless you have shitty tyres you can't going to get get much going on. if you have decent tyres then they will just grip and not spin. secondly, i'm guessing that if you have 425hp then you have a bit of lag, so you aren't making much torque in the lower rev range which is what you will need. also how are you doing it? are you holding it on the rev limiter and then dumping the clutch? if not, then you are the problem. actually come to think of it, trying to do a burnout starting in 3rd is stupid to start with.
  24. are GT starlets under 5k? what about SR-V pulsars (the ones with the SR16 engine)?
  25. or hamo will be at the pointy end of the field and then drop 2 wheels off onto the artificial grass at lesmo and then go sliding backwards into the fence like he did a few years back, lol
