  1. get rid of speedlimits? yeah that's a good idea........ certainly reduce the population
  2. yes there is. the vin number for starters. plus rego details. don't really see the point of doing a full conversion of a gts to a gtr as the cost of doing it in most cases would cost more than buying a gtr. it isn't just a case of bolting in the engine. the gtr's have flared rear guards, aluminium bonnet, and various other differences that aren't that hard to spot.
  3. that oily black stuff inside the manifold is in fact oil. it gets there via the PCV as well as from the very small amount of oil that leaks from around the turbo seal. as for cleaning it out, it is best done with the maifold off, but using a foaming upper engine cleaner while the manifold is still installed will take a small amount off, but expect it to foul the plugs up in the process (as it washes it down into the cylinders to be burnt up and/or pushed out the exhaust). turns the car into a bit of a smoke machine. it's somewhat amusing. as for what moodles said about causing idle problems, if you were to then give the throttle body a good proper clean afterwards you shouldn't have any issues. you may have to initially adjust the idle though. you don't really need to clean it out though. it doesn't have much of a negative effect unless there is copious amounts of oil there, in which case it will make the car a little bit more prone to pinging from what i understand.
  4. the factory boost gauge is far from accurate, and you should also note that it doesn't read in PSI. first thing you should do before playing with the boost is get an aftermarket gauge. as for how much boost you can run, that depends on your mods, but if it's still running the stock ecu then if you go too high the ecu will start to work against you. you shouldn't have any issues with it leaning out (unless the fuel pump is shagged) but the opposite. the stock ecu will make it run rather rich.
  5. LOL, i was thinking roughly the same thing but thought i'd just shut my mouth
  6. be tailored to player, partly based off the position they play i'd say. a big front rower is going to need a drastically different sup regime to a position where they need to do a lot more running (rather than being a large, slow moving object that uses brute force to get past the opposition)
  7. obviously wasn't a turbo xr6 otherwise it would've been a pair of tail lights off in the distance, but that's a discussion for a different thread. the issue you are having may be caused by your coil packs starting to fail (extremely common for the stock coils to start to fail as they are getting on a bit now), or it may be that your plugs are also getting close to needing changing, or possibly that the AAC valve needs a clean (there is a thread about how to do this if you search the tutorial/DIY section). this is the most common cause of the car stalling when the clutch is pushed in when coming to a stop, but not the only possible cause. weak coils of plugs, as i already mentioned, also can cause this plus a few other things.
  8. that would be more for athletes wanting performance (lean muscle gain, where being bulky isn't desired) rather than people wanting to simply bulk up. generally lean athletes (like cyclists) will use a 3:1 carbs to protein ratio as the carbs replenish what they've burnt and the protein helps replenish/rebuild the muscle.
  9. holden commodore executive
  10. did you ask them to do it, or did they just do it for you and charged you for it? if the latter, might just be their way to get a few extra dollars out of you. also, what filters are you running? if it's an oiled air filter then there might be too much oil in it and it's making them a bit oily.
  11. yeah it isn't a thermofan that runs like a normal thermofan. it's an overtemp thermofan.
  12. how many litres of fuel were you putting in after doing 225kms? without the exact figure you can't say that the fuel economy is poor. if the fuel gauge is dodgy then you may be filling up when you still have half a tank and getting half reasonable economy. but i'd still go with the o2 sensor being the cause of poor economy, although if you are flooring the car everywhere then the o2 sensor won't help at all as it only works at light throttle (such as gentle acceleration or cruising at a fixed speed). once you get beyond a certain load point the ecu ignores the o2 sensor.
  13. some of them do. it is a pretty watered down system though. also in some cases it is disabled in the ecu. basically it is put on there as a provision to get around certain homogolation regulations in certian rally classes (group N i think). so basically some of them have all the gear, but it isn't turned on. not sure what models do and don't, but all i know is that the info above generally applies to the evo 3
  14. you are more likely to have overheating issues sitting in traffic in the city than on the highway. in fact a lot of cars could drive happily on the highway for hours with a dodgy cooling system but wouldn't last 15 mins in city traffic before they stuffed the engine. there is a much higher airflow at highway speed, so unless you are sitting 15cm off the back of the car in front of you then oil and water temps won't be an issue. my parents car once had the clutch fan stuff up and stop working. we lived out of town (small town) and driving to town on the highway the temps were fine. the moment we got into town the temps soared. turbo temps won't be an issue unless you have the handbrake half on so you have to floor it the whole time. at highway speed you shouldn't be making boost unless accelerating. as was said above, a skyline isn't a mythical beast, it's a car and will handle being driven on a trip just like any other car. if your car does happen to break down on the trip then the fault was there before you left and would've happened
  15. every insurance company will try to get out of paying (generally much more so if you are the one at fault).
  16. if you had the hazards switch unplugged then it probably wasn't plugged in correctly. if it is unplugged the indicators won't work
  17. just buy it from here http://www.kudosmotorsports.com/catalog/nissan-oxygen-sensor-genuine-nissan-skyline-r33r34-pair-p-557.html
  18. jacque was a f1 driver. won the world championship in 97 (not sure if other years as well) despite schumachers best attempt to put him out of the race (since schumacher was also in the running for the championship and was leading the last race until a mechanical failure caused him to start slowing down, so he rammed into the side of jacque when he overtook him - same as what he did to damon hill back in 94 in the hope that he wouldn't be able to finish the race) as for senna, had he not died when he did i highly doubt he would be remembered in the same way he is. there are plenty of living former drivers who had the same sort of dazzling career but aren't spoken about with as much awe because they then had low parts of their career.
  19. most likely due to the atmo bov. what happens is that when you lift off the throttle and the bov opens it sucks fresh air through the bov. this causes the ecu to dump in extra fuel and makes the car stall/amlost stall. putting a plumback bov on will help the situation. if the coils and/or plugs are getting on a bit then replacing them can help the situation as well, but won't solve it completely.
  20. this. if the stock one is working then just stick with that.. or try google. just search for a wiring diagram.
  21. pretty sure that people posting about doing skids does much more damage to this forums reputation that anything else. for starters, it's illegal and driving unsafely is what the media goes on about. never heard a media story on forum members calling someone a dickhead for posting about illegal and unsafe driving habbits.
  22. well considering that you are talking about drifting a car in the wet on public roads, i think you deserve everything i said. the car enthusiest community is constantly taking a bashing from the media and politicians because there is all too much evidence of people driving like cockheads. your post just shows that you are one of those people contributing to the bad reputation. i don't care how old you are, or how long you have been driving. talking about drifting on a public forum (where i'm sure we have members who are police officers) is just plain stupid. it also shows that your maturity level sure doesn't match your age.
  23. why not just buy genuine ones so you don't have to dodge up any wiring?
  24. maybe take it to an automatics specialist and get them to do a service on it and see if that helps.
  25. this. you just lose a little bit of low to mid range power from not having the VCT. if you use a z32 ecu though you can keep the VCT. just need to do a little bit of splicing.
