  1. Where abouts is this skid pan day? Sounds like alot of fun. If near by then i might be in.
  2. Hey all. Just wondering if there is a part number for the tacho modual in a R33gtst series 1 1995 dash cluster. I want to replace the tacho unit in my cluster. Trying to work out if cheaper to buy new modual part (which i doubt), or just buy a second hand cluster n mix n match parts? Can you attually just buy the tacho gauge?
  3. Hey all. Just looking for someone who is selling a working R33 GTST or GTR dash cluster. I mainly only require the tacho but yeah i doubt anyone is just selling that part. Preferably out of a series 2 skyline. If ya have one and want to sell just pm me. Cheers
  4. Expresso machine sir
  5. Has any one fitted an aftermarket gauge in place where the factory tacho was?
  6. Yeah i might have to end up doing that too. My car is a 1995 series 1. I dunno if i can get a series 2 dash cluster and fit that. I not sure if they are the same or not. It woudl be good tho to know what is wrong with the one i got tho. Might try an auto elec n see what they recon.
  7. LOL sorry mate i will try to hurry up I had a bit of a play with it. I am not sure what signal to give it to make it work. There is three wires that go to it. Ignition, Ground, and Signal. I connected up 12volts to the ignition and ground connections. I then put the meter across the signal and ground connections and it seemed to be giving out 9 volts. Not sure why this is. I was going to give it a variable voltage signal from 0.9 volts to 2 volts n see what that does. I am not too sure tho if i am doing the right thing. I might have to do some more research i thinks. Updates soon when i get more info.
  8. I have tested the signal coming from the ecu etc and you can see that it varies as you change the revs as expected. So i figure the signal must be all good. just the stupid tacho. I am having a play with it right at the moment. I will tell ya all how i go with it.
  9. Hey all. Yeah my tacho finally died to in my r33. It still shows a few revs but not working properly at all. I was just wondering, has anyone attually repaired one of these. I have taken the tacho out of the cluster and i now have it on the bench setup with some power so i can test it all out. I am just about to start checking out all the components etc and try and find what might be the problem. Is it possible to fit maybe an aftermarket tacho in the same spot. I am not sure which way to go at the moment. I will just play around with in n see how i go. Any info you have guys would be great. Cheers
  10. Did anyone throw this dude a tub of KY jelly for the trip when he left the court
  11. I have done this and it seems to work well. Dont worry about putting in a switch. Just control the boost with ur right foot ffs.
  12. Ok Thanks guys. I will have to see if i have any relays kicken round here somewhere. I will have a play around n tell ya how i go.
  13. Yeah i have 6 x9's in my r33. they fit very easy if you use a mdf spacer. think my spacer was about 25mm thick. you only need enough to allow the speaker not to rub on the metal shelf. I put rubber between the speakers and the metal shelf also to stop any unwanted vibrations. I also fitted teh 6x9's to the mdf parcel shelf first, outside of the car then install the shelf. It looked like the only easy option you could do, as it gets fairly tight in there.
  14. Sweet thanks mate. Yeah i will have to give this a go. But one of my amps is f!*ked now so i will have to buy a new one. I will do this if i have probs with the new amp.
  15. HAHA f!*k me. Are there really people that are this dumb in this world? I mean its not very hard to work out where an oil must go if it says TRANSMISSION OIL on the F!*king bottle. This must be fake. Someone couldn't be this stupid.
  16. Hi all. I just have a quick question that maybe someone will know whats going on. I have installed two amps into my car, one for the speakers inside and one for the sub in the boot. I have wired the triggers (on signal) on both amps, up to the trigger on the head unit. This should then allow both amps to come on once the stereo is fired up. If i turn the key ignition to the assessories position i can turn the stereo on and both amps come on as they should. Stereo works fine in this situation. Okay, well if i go to now start my car, which causes the stereo to flick off and back on, one of my amps goes into Protection mode and wont work. Both amps are different brands. With the engine running i can then turn the head unit off, then straight back on again. After i do this, the amp that was in protection mode, starts to funciton correctly. This happens everytime i start my car with the stereo already on before i turn the key to the start position. If i turn the head unit off then shut off the car and start it again. Then turn the head unit on, both amps work fine. It is a bit annoying having to turn the head unit off and on all the time. I was thinking maybe a time delay circuit or something might fix the problem. I am thinking that when i start the car, there must be a bit of a spike in the current going thru the trigger wire to the amps. The cheaper crapper amp seems to not like this. Can anyone suggest maybe what i should look at. I thought perhaps a Capacitor included in teh circuit there somewhere might take that edge off the power spike fixing the prob?
  17. Hey Mate Yeah i had the same problem. There is a set of hose removal pliers that you can buy that are used to get the hoses off. Think they sell them at autobarn etc. But if your tight ass like me you can prob use some pliers or something and try and twist the hose off. I think i got a small screw driver in there and tried to free the hose up a bit. Maybe try pouring some boiling water over the hose for a while to expand it a bit. I would recomend that you get the hose pliers. Will make life easier. Note: using normal pliers might butcher the hose a bit.
  18. HmM i had alot of troubles when it came to sanding around groves etc. Just did it by hand btu took me ages. I guesss you could work on the covers while they are on the engine but it might be a bit harder on your back leaning over the car for hrs. A dremel or similar took might make the job alot faster tho.
  19. I hear on the news that the road toll is basically the same or a little higher than last year etc. Why dont the government stand back and hav a good look at the situation. Obviously speed cameras and bullsh!t laws they make up while sitting on the shitter taking a dump, dont make any difference. People are going to crash etc. I figure its just the way things are and thats not going to change. If they want less accidents maybe start increasing peoples skills behind the wheel. I hear of too many stories where they get into some situation etc car slides on a corner and they got no idea what to do. Some friends have done this and then jump on the brakes and just loop it in the middle of the road. Some people panic and jump on the brakes and loose steering etc while sliding. If they educate people more on what to do if the inexpected happens then maybe some accidents out there could have been avoided. I had a problem the other day where my brakes overheated and stopped working when i was towing a trailer through some hills. Straight away i knew what had happened and didn't panic. I just tried the handbrake slowly and changed down gears and pulled the car up safely. Unfortunately the car didn't give me any warning the brakes where getting too hot, and just failed when comming down a hill. Think problem was frozen brake caliper plus me relying on brakes too much. Point of story is the average person with no knowledge of cars and their workings would most likely panic and hav an accident. Some driver training courses would be good to learn some emergency situation tactics. Seems a good start to me in slowing the toll.
  20. Yeah i am from Morwell area. I think they are building a new track in the area as i type. Somewhere near Yallourn mine. I hope to start racing up there when its finished. Hopefully they have some drifting up there. If i wanted to go to calder it would take me a good 3hrs i recon on a friday night. Just far too expensive. Hmm maybe i should just build my own personal drag strip lol .
  21. Got the seals from bursons auto parts. think is was $70 by memory. If ya got some spare coin its prob worth doing.
  22. LOL. And they wonder why people street race. I dont understand some of these people that run these type of events. It makes far more sense to reduce the costs to enter etc and draw more people in to race and watch. They will bump the price up to $70 before long i recon. I was thinking of giving it a go out there sometime but looking far too expensive. $65 entry, $100 fuel there and back, $500 for tires. Dam thats one expensive outting.
  23. I first saw this with the sound off and thought "ah here we go, another HOON article, just what we need". But yeah thats crazy. I always pull right off the road. I dont trust any of those shit drivers out there. I like how the media try and make it look like the accident has soemthing to do with him being a P plater and driving a supra. They will prob say soemthing like " His tire was probably buggered due to HOON related attivities and thats the reason it blew and needed to be changed". Sux tho. Hope this MOFO gets found.
  24. I am fairly sure they are already doing this mate.
