  1. Think I would beat the sh!t outta them too before the cops got to them. I would just say they fell over or something if anyone starts asking questions. Who are the police going to believe, the guy that just stole your car or the inocent victim. LOL Hope it works out for ya dude. Just makes me so angry when i hear stuff like this.
  2. Just use a degreaser and get in there with the pressure cleaner and blast the crap off. Just dont spray the electricals on purpose. When i did mine i just used the pressure cleaner carefully and cleaned the engine and engine bay down. But you just want to avoid aiming the water at electrical stuff like plugs etc as it might force water in the plug causing you a problem later. I would maybe let the car sit for a bit afterwards to just let the water evaporate.
  3. I told them to send out a dude to check on the job cos this tosser panel beater just emits crap and JCI then lap that up. But they never do send anyone. Will see what outcome I get tomorrow.
  4. You can get the rear shelf out without taking the side plastic bits off. You can kinda flex the shelf at the sides to get it out. There is like this little tab at the bottom of the plastic side bits that slot into the rear shelf. With the seat out you might be able to get ya hand in the sides and feel them. I just lifted the shelf a bit and kinda bowed the shelf to allow you to get it outta these slots. Also the shelf seemed to have a few press in clips but this popped out very easy. good luck
  5. Yeah I am egerly awaiting tomorrow to hear back from the insurance company when they call to check up on him again. This panel beater guy is friggin unreal. You would think that you would hurry up with a job so that you get paid sooner. Maybe this guy doesn't like money or something. Well I kinda want the pearl in the paint now but I dont see how its such a big deal when it's really just adding it to the paint. With the rear pods I asked the panel beater if it was possible to change them to a after market design and he said yeah sure no worries. I then provided him pictures of the pods i wanted and prices and shop details etc. Turned out that his supplier of parts had the same ones so he could get them from his guys. I requested the different design pods more than a month ago. He tells insurance that he is still waiting on getting these pods and thats why the job has been delayed. But there is lots of other stuff to do on the car still before it will be ready to paint eg sanding, disasemble body kits etc. But this guy just sits on his hands till the parts rock up. I am starting to get really annoyed about it all now.
  6. Well its been nearly 4 months now. This has become such a big pain in the ass. I can't seem to get any results out of anyone at the moment. Panel beater is still taking his sweet ass time. Insurance keep hastling him and he still does not do anything. Just today it looks to be turning to shit. Insurance have called me and said that the car should be comleted from an insurance point of view by this wednesday. I was like WTF. When my car was in the accident one of the rear pods was smashed. I decided to use a different style after market rear pods as it was going to be cheaper than the factory replacement one and would look better. Also the panel beater said that he can add some pearl to my paint when he repaints the car. NOW the panel beater is telling the insurance company that the car is basically finished from an insurance point of view and only the personal stuff that i wanted is left to be done. So now insurance are going to try and wash their hands off all this and I will have to chase up the panel beater about the after market mods. This is BS I think. The panel beater had to purchase a new rear pod any way that was going to cost more than the after market ones any way. Also had to paint the car anyway i just took him up on the ofer to add the pearl into the paint. If insurance wash there hands now i will have to fight it out with the panel beater and will prob not get my car back for ages. WTF do I do. This is turning into a big nightmare!!!!
  7. I used the factory pods to make sure that i didnt have this problem with the window. I used some type s alpine splits in the doors and the speaker just fit in ok. The magnet is very big and just squeezed into the pod after hacking this little ridge off on the pods. But I think there is a little bit of room between the speaker and the actual door trim grill etc. The alpines were quite deep but seemed to fit ok. But if you have already hacked a hole in your door trim I would be more inclined to mount them thru the door trim so ya can see them. My aim was to make my audio setup look fairly stock. ie less likely for people to see and want to break in and steal them. The proper pods shouldn't be too hard to come by. Good luck
  8. I think Just Cars would make decisions based on your driving record. I am only 23 and I got a S1 GTST 1995 model and they insurered me for nearly 18k on that car. But at the same time I have not previous record of speeding etc so that might have played a part in my agreed value. PS the car is basically stock so thats fairly good I think.
  9. Ah ok no probs. Yeah what you are saying might be the go. I will have to check out this sound deadening stuff. I have got my speakers installed in the doors behind the factory door trims so you can't even tell that they are there. Had to bucher the pods slightly to fit the speaker in tho.
  10. Did you retain the factory door pod. I just cut mine to fit the 6.5" speaker. It covers the top of the speaker to prevent water dripping on it. You might be able to make a fibreglass box for them or something in the door. Thats what I am going to look at shortly.
  11. The repairer was attually the one that I choose. Starting to think that this was the wrong way to go. But I went to one of JCI recommened repairers and they seemed far dodgyer than the guy I got now. My car has scrates down the side but not too deep and the JCI recommended repairer was just going to polish them out. I was like WTF it needs to be repainted dik head. The guy I have now is meant to be good but his reputation is that he is slow to get the job done. I didnt realize that he is slow because he is just lazy and doesn't prioritize his work. My car went into the shop ages ago and when the panel beater gets new jobs in, he just starts working on them straight away which is BS. All these new jobs seem to que jump infront of mine. He seems to take on heaps of cash jobs.
  12. Unfortunately I really need that car back tho cos my daily driver is fairly f!*ked and very unsafe to drive. Its starting to cost me quite a bit of money keeping it going. I rather have the liner back so that i can fall back on this when my daily driver decides to shit itself. When something breaks on my daily driver it puts lots of pressure on me to fix it before i have to go to work again or I would be walking to work. So anything I decide to do on the car will have to be completed in a short time and it has to work or I am screwed. I think that the guy having my car for more than 3 months now is not really pushing him. He has just been doing it in his spare time it seems. I figure he been f!*king me round for months now, I think its time for me to play the game. I will be complaining too if the job is not up to standard. I intend on getting right in there and inspecting everything on my car before they give it back to me. I been going in every week to see exactly how he is doing things and to see that there is no dodgy bog up jobs. I just hope my car still runs well after sitting round doing f all for the last few months.
  13. Well its now been 3 and a bit months without my liner. I am still having trouble getting my panel beater to finish the job. I contacted my insurance company and that seems to have made him move again on my car. lol I went there yesterday to see how its progressing. After the insurance company started calling him more regularly he has made a bit more of an effort (funny that). Well he was not to happy to see me when i went there. Didn't say sh!t to me really. But I just figure that he has made it harder for himself so F*!k him. If all goes well I could be cruising by the end of next week. Dam you dont really know how much you like something untill you dont have it anymore. I am having with drawal symptoms LOL. After all this rooting around I just hope it will look and be nearly as good as it was. I will post up some lastest pics later tonite.
  14. I like your story mate as it really does make you think about the consequences of street racing and how it can affect not only your self but also those that love you and other road users. I will keep this burned into my mind now and think twice before doing anything foolish like this. I think that real life stories do help to get the msg across. RIP for your Friend.
  15. Pfft sif he is going to tell you on this public forum where to buy illegal items.
  16. I am going to add a solenoid acttuator to my boot release system so that i have key, cable, and electric. So hopefully no probs in the future.
  17. Hmm you have given me a bit to think about. Yeah the vehicle i want has to be a ute as i want to use it for more than just towing. Might look at a ford 4ltr ute then. There seem to be lots of ford utes for sale on carsales.com.au so i might look at these. Thanks for the help people.
  18. Well I i guess i am asking whats the "best" tow vehicle for my application.
  19. Hmm interesting. I was thinking of using something different such as a hilux etc but was unsure what sort would be suitable as well as affordable. I was thinking of a ford ute also maybe 6 or 8 but I am kinda leaning towards holden as i like them more But i rather a V6 than a straight six. Well since i prob wont be using the ute to tow the trailer everyday i was thinking maybe just go with the V6 for ecconomy reasons. Also prb will get one on gas. But I havent ever ventured to the dark side and got a V8 before, so i kinda want one to see what its like. Well thanks for the feed back so far.
  20. Hey all. I am hoping to get a car to race in the near future and as it will be an unregistered car I will be trailering it around of course. But in preparation I am trying to find a vehicle that will be suitable to tow a tandem trailer with this car on it. I hope to buy a 180sx for racing so i know what sorta vehicle weight i have to pull. Currently I am thinking of getting a VS commodore ute maybe V8 but if a V6 will pull it ok i will prob buy that. I want a ute cos i want to put the motor bike in the back to take on trips. So i guess my question is "will a VS V6 ute pull a trailer with 180sx car on it, comfortably" or should i look at getting a V8. I am not too sure about the towing vehicle weight requirements but will check vic roads on that. Any one have suggestions.
  21. LOL I thought most people prob do that sort of thing. I dont do that sort of dodgy stuff to my liner, only the sh!tter. Thanks
  22. Thanks guys. I do try. lol.
  23. LOL Na thats just what u get when your car is 24 yrs old and done 400,000kms.
  24. lol thats a good one. I have dodged up so much on my daily driver. The throttle body on the carby is so worn out that it wouldn't close properly and always idled high depending on if the butter fly jammed or not. So just added an extra return spring onto it to help pull it back close properly. I when i need new brake pads on the rear drums i just look thru a box of spares that i have and find some old ones that have good meat left on them. seems to wear the leading pad out faster so i just get a whole bunch of rear pads that i find and put them on. The leading and trailing pad seem to be the same so interchangable. saves few $$. When i bust a CV boot cover thats no sweet. I just get some plasitc bag and wrap that around it and duct tape that sh!t on. last for longer than u would think. Radiator is always getting holes in it. but i just dodge up that with some metal mend putty. It now seems to have more putty on it than metal lol. The structural support for the sills under the car are a little rusted out and make it hard to lift the car there . Had to get a RWC for the car so just bogged the rusted out area up and shapped it to look like the original chassis. then painted it with body deadner and when dry i just mixed up some nice mud and splatted that all around under the car to hide all. Didn't bother washing it for the assesors. The rubber steering joinner on the steering shaft wouldnt pass RWC cos it had some small cracking in it, so i just rubbed grease into the crack to hide it and they didnt notice. Reverse light switch in gear box buggered up so i wired the factory wiring to a switch in the car now so i have to flick a switch now to turn reverse lights on. Brake calipers where shaking around all the time on the pads and rotor because the securing pins where worn. So just wrapped the pins with aluminum flashing (stuff u use on a house) and shoved it back in. Hmm did a few other things. will add them as i remember.
  25. James Bond style ay. Hmm so i could go to the pub and get f*cked up and then jump in the back seat and use the psp to drive home. If i get stopped by popo I just say "I am not driving i'm the in the back seat".
