  1. yep thx for that. We checked with his finance company and they said similar. I could either pay the amount owing to them and the balance to the seller, or wait for the seller to pay it off, if he had the means. Suncorp finance for example will accept payment by cheque or BPay. I told the seller it was too much hassle (and still some risk) for me to be dealing with his finance company, so i've put off the purchase until he pays them out in full and REVS has registered no debt.
  2. guys, do you know the process for buying a car that has finance owing on it? Seems like a catch-22. The current owner cant pay it off until he gets my money, but i dont want to give him the money until it's free of the debt. does he get his finance company to provide a note of clear sale or something that indemnifies me against his debt? thanks, sean.
  3. My wife ran up a gutter in a similar way in my GTIR and bent the lower control arm. I just took it to my local Fulcrum shop and they diagnosed it for free. They didnt charge me 'cause they knew i'd be back at a later date with the control arm to pay them to put it in and wheel align it. I'd say just duck down to a suspension shop and get them to check it.
  4. funny you should mention that....i had one panel of my old gtir sprayed at pickering smash repair and they did a great job. I didnt know until now that they are known for import work - i just went with them for the competitive quote.
  5. A few pics.....
  6. I had a carputer in my GTIR. It is in the process of being transported to my r34. Specs: - VIA M10000 mobo/cpu - Opus 12v power supply inc. shutdown controler - Laptop HDD - Laptop DVD - 5" Playstation 1 LCD screen (non-touch), hacked to fit dash - Thumb-ball mouse - WinXP + many versions of different front end software found on mp3car.com (can't decide which is best). - USB GPS - USB wifi - USB webcam - Serial Consult interface Does: - Music (cd and mp3) - Movies (dvd, divx etc.) - GPS navigation and tracking with OziExplorer and gps trackmaker - WiFi "wardriving"with Netstumbler - Reverse camera - Consult data display and logging. If you want to do a carPC quick, use an invertor and old PC. If you want to do it right, use an Opus and laptop parts with a mini-ITX mobo, purpose built. The screens below are an old test install in my GTIR. It got a little neater for the final install, but i cant find the pics. When it goes into the Skyline, i'll be swapping to a DIN sized 7" touchscreen.
  7. I've done the Brisbane-Sydney drive with an unknown modified car before and was fine. You have twice as far to go, so may be a bit hairy. I suggest that maybe you don't even have enough time to book freight? Can you? If not, you may be forced to drive. Go the pacific hwy(as opposed to the New England hwy), as there are more well equipped towns along the way to help out should you have a problem.
  8. A clip? Is it a false plug on the port? Is it above the pedals, or more to the right or left? thx, sean.

    New Skyline Owner

Yeah photography is a hobby of mine, so i expect in the coming weekends i will be taking off for some proper shoots. The color is very hard to capture, as it looks different to the naked eye even in person. It goes from black, to purple to blue depending on the amount of light Yeah now with that.....i saw the sticky at the top of the forum here, but i dont exactly "get" the benefits. Where does the $55/$25 actually go to? I dont believe the sticker and shop discounts account for these fees. Do SAU/Q members get public liability insurance on cruises? Do you have CAMS affiliation? This is where i would see financial value.
  11. as the title: where is the consult port in an R34? I cant see it in the drivers kick panel, which is where i would have expected it (near the fuse box). Any ideas?
  12. Hi all! My name is Sean and i am a proud new owner of an immaculate R34 GT-T. I have defected from the GTI-R camp to the Skyline crew and just wanted to say "hi". I'm 28 and I live in the northern suburbs of Brisbane with my wife Julie. Previous rides include a GTI-R and a Swift GTi. The car i just picked up is: 05/99 GT-T 23,xxxKM Deep Blue Pearl ONLY mods are a CD player and Nismo/Bilstein suspension. Hope to meet some of you around the place. Pity i missed the skid pan day, because i really enjoyed doing Mt Cotton many years ago in my Swift. cheers, sean.
