R33 Stock Fuel Pump Compared To Walbro Gss-342
RBwhatever replied to RBwhatever's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hmmm yes, it all makes sense now. Its as you said, they shouldn't be rated by power, but rather flow at XXpsi. Thanks for the insight Jono -

Yes he's replied to my emails in the past couple of days. Thanks SK -
R33 Stock Fuel Pump Compared To Walbro Gss-342
RBwhatever replied to RBwhatever's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
But if in fact the GSS-342 is a high pressure pump as everyone seems to state, it should be capable of pushing 80psi of fuel with decent flow with ease. I don't quite understand the relation of boost pressure to fuel pressure though. I can understand more fuel pressure results in less flow. Is it for example, 18psi on any turbo will result in 60psi of fuel pressure? -

Just read the thread on here about doing the direct feed mod. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=91993 It seems it's not really needed for R33's. So if in fact it does start to run lean at high power outputs it's just running out of puff. Such was the case with you Jono. It started to run out of puff around 300rwkw yes? -
R33 Stock Fuel Pump Compared To Walbro Gss-342
RBwhatever replied to RBwhatever's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I just checked mine now. Its sit on 9.5v at idle. We held the revs at 3000rpm when stationary and it sat on 13.5v. So it seems as though if it was under full load it would hit 14v. The wires I have aren't all that big. Maybe its got more to do with amps more than volts. -
R33 Stock Fuel Pump Compared To Walbro Gss-342
RBwhatever replied to RBwhatever's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Well I've done a fair bit of reading. Its seems that the GSS342 is a High Pressure fuel pump. I can't find any information to state otherwise. As advertised it is capable of 450-500hp. I'd assume that to be engine hp, not rwhp. So it calculates down to 373kw at the engine, so lets say its good for 340rwkw guestimate. Other factors seem to come into it as well. So in theory if I was too try and achieve my mythical 340rwkw, I would not be able to do it with just the gss342(and other supporting mods). I'd have to up the voltage to the pump in order for it to flow more and have more pressure. Apparently the stock wiring to the fuel pump isn't capable of feeding the pump enough voltage, so the direct voltage feed mod to the wiring is necessary. But that would mean the pump is running at full capacity all the time, and a fuel swirl pot would probably be needed to keep the fuel temps down. Could this be the reason why some say walbro's are rubbish pumps and say they fail? Because they haven't upped the voltage feed to it to flow more? Or is it just the fact they didn't purchase the High Pressure pump? The Mafia, did you do the direct feed mod or just keep the stock wiring when you had your pump fitted? Someone please shoot me down if my reasoning is incorrect. -
R33 Stock Fuel Pump Compared To Walbro Gss-342
RBwhatever replied to RBwhatever's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Na that's cool. It shouldn't really affect me though as I probably won't even get to 250rwkw. I'm trying to keep response to a maximum, and they don't get any more responsive than the stock turbo. It's just good to know what I've got will handle at about 250rwkw, just in case. I'd just like to know which pump it is just for knowledge sake. Cheers for the extra info man. It really helps to let me know whats possible and not possible I'll shoot slide the question of which one it is -

Ah ok very interesting. Thanks for the flow/pressure chart. I purchased this pump off slide here. He's advertised it as high pressure. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=183090 Can you tell if it is the high pressure version? Maybe I should just ask slide. -

The Mafia, you say this is not the High Pressure version. I've been reading around & everyone that sells the GSS342, and some that have flow tested them say they are a high pressure pump. Is there another GSS342 "high pressure" pump available? Cheers. -
Trash.

I use the Titan Supersyn 5w-40. Don't skimp out and use the cheaper Titan Super GTO for $38. It's a semi-synthetic. It says synthetic but its actually semi. Use the fully synthetic Titan Supersyn.

Help! R33 Gts-t S1 Stock Blow Off Valve Queries
RBwhatever replied to JIMMY R's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I've got the K&N pod too, not that it makes any difference. The high pitch noise isn't bad. Don't worry about it. Mines been doing it for ages. I heard mine make this noise as soon as I switched to a pod. As for flutter, it could be due to his BOV having a higher spring tension. If its a stock bov, it might have been squashed to raise the spring tension thus giving the flutter. Standard spring rates in the stock bov does not make flutter. That would be why yours isn't doing it. -
R33 Stock Fuel Pump Compared To Walbro Gss-342
RBwhatever replied to RBwhatever's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
My thoughts exactly. It'd do me just fine. I wasn't planning on going for a bigger turbo than a highflow and I'm still on the stock turbo and probably pushing the regular 200rwkw or close too. In saying that, would it be bad to boost a high flow turbs to 18psi with this pump? Anyway I fitted up the pump this afternoon. It wasn't too hard to fit. We just needed: 2 x female insulted terminals 2 x 25mm-50mm hose clamps 100mm of fuel hose to extend the hose to the pump and for rubber mounts under the clamps. Photo of finished product mounted on stock bracket. We plugged in a wideband after and found the afr's running a tad richer than the previous tune on the stock pump. So I might have to get the tune touched up a bit. I also did not do the direct feed mod when installing this pump and just used the stock wiring. It has run fine under full acceleration . -

Yeah good point. Was just checking to make sure. Cheers Guilt-Toy -
I bought a Walbro GSS-342 to replace my stock fuel pump in my S1 R33. Anyway long story short, I took the fuel pump out and the stock one is almost a twice the size than the walbro gss-342. Whats the go? is my "stock pump" not stock? The pump I pulled out is stamped with JECS as the brand and model #A42-T22 12V

Mine makes that high pitch noise. But it comes from the turbo. If you've got a boost gauge that reads vacuum, you probably find it makes the noise at a certain point. For mine it's -14 IN-Hg. You can only hear it because of the pod filter though. If you had the stock airbox it'll muffle out the sound. Unless the sound yours is making is different too mine. -
Anybody Heard From Sydneykid Lately?
RBwhatever replied to simpletool's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I've bought sway bars through him before when he wasn't so busy, and the turn around was about 2 weeks becuase they had to be made. But it was still fairly quick. Freight took 2days. I was pretty happy with that transaction, it couldn't be faulted. I hope he gets back on deck soon. Looks like a few of us will be getting things around the december era. -
Kudos Motorsports has a complete R33 auto to manual kit. Maybe he can separate the bits you need. Maybe not. He might not want to separate. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=173377 I would of thought NZ had some import wreckers over there to get parts from. Otherwise you'll have to source them from wreckers here in aus. Try Nisswreck. www.nisswreck.com.au

In the same boat. Except I haven't paid him for anything. Just wanted to place an order. I sent him an E-mail just under a week ago and haven't received a reply as of yet. I think he's just really busy. -
Well how'd you be. They do exist. The R34 GT came with a RB20DE NEO motor. They must be rare as hens teeth. I've never seen or heard of them in Australia or Japan. Goodness knows why anyone would buy one. Hence the conversion I suppose. Sorry for implying they never came with one. I stand corrected.
-
Fact: Non-Turbo R34's come with a RB25DE from the factory. The RB NEO engine is 2.5L. I find that very hard to believe. I don't think you researched it properly. Mate up the gear box to a RB25DET and it will be extra weak. There is a section on the forums too discuss cosmetics. Please use that section for more info and advice on paint colour etc. Please type out your posts in English. Using "ghetto" style spelling from "da hood" will make you a target of abuse. Please use the search button first before asking questions, as your questions may have already been asked and answered at an earlier stage. Do yourself a favour and get yourself an RB25det gearbox. It will be a waste of time and money if you put the rb20 box on.

Ford To Discontinue Its In-line Six Engine Production.
RBwhatever replied to Forged's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yeah I understand. The I6 and RB's and SR20's nissan produced were ditched because they couldn't meet the new emission standards. Even though they were the best motors that were produced by them.
