  1. Lol rightio Yes it could be other things too. Braadz, post up the verdict when your done. Your BOV, is it atmo? It can contribute a fair bit to your overfuelling and richness also.
  2. Do you have a stock BOV for sale? PM me if you do, cheers.
  3. Sway bars will fix your roll problem.
  4. Exactly the point I'm trying to make
  5. Just because its running rich in certain part of the map or on closed loop, it can still run lean in another part eg at WOT. And I also take it that your saying that I can put a crappy fuel pump that can't keep up in my car and it won't ping even if everything like the timing, sparkies, injectors else is ok,? I'm talking about when it's under load/WOT not cruising.
  6. Wrong. As mad082 says, 1 bar = 14.5psi. Hahahahahaaaha, "hey man, guess what?....I'm running negative boost". Its called vacuum
  7. Yeah so the 3.5 x 100 mmhg on your stock gauge should equal about 7psi.
  8. What he ^^^^^ said.
  9. There's a few stock pumps floating around in the for sale section for about $50 to.
  10. As for the car running rich, it could be any one of ten things. Have a look at WogsRus's thread http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=175377 There's a few things in there that could be your problem.
  11. Your bad economy would have something to do with your really rich AFR's. Stock ECU still? Could be various other things too making it rich. It can still run rich when it's not under hard acceleration. But when you do give it a bit, the pump can't flow enough fuel to keep up with the air intake. More air = more fuel.
  12. BOV still for sale? PM me if you do....
  13. Pinging sounds like someone's shaking a can of rocks under your hood. Does it sound like that? Could be your fuel pump dying, even though you don't get much economy and its running rich, it probably can't keep up under high load/heavy acceleration thus leaning out.
  14. I also understand that you'll be/are going for an Adaptronic ECU. If it was supplied with a HC to make quick on the fly changes, wouldn't that be great? But still, paying for the FC's software is a downfall that we have to accept.
  15. Well as you said its good for checking all the vitals, and also making changes on the fly. It's also there for the same reason we like to put gauges in the car, to keep an eye on things. Its not as if you keep your laptop in the car all the time, so having a HC that can edit your map(if you know what doing....i don't) or knock back a few degrees of timing or change rev limits etc is handy to have, but it's not a tuning item, its greatly limited in this respect But yes the FC is old, and it's being overtaken by later and greater things that has more flexibility eg. MAF & MAP support in the same unit, but it still rates quite well compared to the new boys on the block as it still has its functionality & tunability. They all have their weak points & strong points. As much as being able to fully tune from the HC would be nice, its just not going to happen.
  16. ^^ I tried that. It didn't work. There was still quite a bit of pressure, mainly coming from the fuel rail. If your worried about losing it, then try and catch it in a bottle.
  17. I see where your coming from, and why. Depending which other standalone ecu's your talking about, the FC and datalogit software can still be bought for cheaper price than some other ECU's that includes software. I'm not saying the FC is the answer to everything because it's not. There are other ecu's that do the job just as good and even better. It comes down to whats going to suit you and your application. The main point of the story is, whether its an FC or Adaptronic/Wolf/Haltech/Autronic, you take the appropriate measures to tune them properly, whether you have to buy the software or not. But anyone that goes and tunes the FC via the handcontroller is a dipstick, when its 5 times easier to use the proper software. It's kinda like saying that a particular performance part is crap because you don't have the proper tools to fit them and it's too hard to do with a shifter, then whinging you don't want to go and buy the right tools because it doesn't come with it. I'm not taking a stab at you mate, just trying to make point. The FC isn't crap because it doesn't come with software and its hard to tune with a HC. We all have different opinions as too which is better etc and I respect your opinions and decisions. Peace man This getting off topic now. On Topic. WogsRus: How'd you go? I checked my vac reading last night when the car was warm at idle and it sits at 18-18.5 IN-HG.
  18. Who the heck tunes off the hand controller? You use the datalogit, a laptop and a wideband to tune them properly.
  19. Well, myself having not actually had a look inside an RB before, in theory that sounds correct. But should they be both open at the same time at any time? You don't have an adjustable exhaust cam do you? Either way, If there's a leak somewhere, then wasted air = wasted fuel.
  20. I'm only speaking from my own experience of when I was pressure testing my IC piping and plenum. It seems that the air is going somewhere if it comes out the exhaust.
  21. Bell mouths can't be bad then hey? The way I see it is as long as you can get the gases away quick enough, usually via a bigger pipe, the better.
  22. It shouldn't be going out the exhaust. The pressure should stay on the intake side and hold the pressure if there's no leaks.
