I gave you photo's of where the hole goes in you other thread. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...20&start=20

You can cut them after the piping is fitted and the fan still on. Its probably better to do so, so you can check how much needs to be lopped off and check the clearance. As for cutting, we used a pneumatic die grinder with the cutting disc attachment. Or alternatively you could use some tin snips. We spun the blade around and held a marker in one spot to evenly mark the blades.

Added Cold Air Box Now Car Feels Slower
RBwhatever replied to r33madd's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Agreed. You don't get heatsoak when your driving. Exposed pod with cold air routing FTW. Oh wait, except if your not in QLD it's probably illegal to have an exposed pod.....muahaha. QLD FTW. Your silencer robs you of power. It restricts your exhaust. Restricted exhaust = less power. -
Why Disable Hicas?
RBwhatever replied to DaveO74's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Thats good to hear, thanks . Yeah i couldn't find any definite answers either. I got my lock bar recently and am going to install it soon. I was a bit worried it would affect the drivability of the car. -
Best Way To Pipe Front Mount Intercooler?
RBwhatever replied to jUsT-dRiFt-iT's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
No the bottle stays where it is. It shouldn't have to move the whole time the kit is being fitted. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...tercooler++hole Here's a link. Look at post #10 for a couple of pics. Its pretty much where the hole should be. Although don't just take his measurements and chop the hole out. Please dummy fit it before cutting the hole. -
Got mine yesterday, thanks sherwin for the good service and product

Can Someone Reccomend Me A Good Clutch?
RBwhatever replied to R33GOD's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Under what conditions is it slipping? I've had mine slip once when i tried to load up some revs on the handbrake. I think i had it on there for too long and it heated up to much or something. It wouldn't launch properly for that run, just bog down instead of biting in. Didn't smell to good anyway. But just doing a rolling take off in first or dropping the clutch, there's no slip at all. -
I reckon nsw will win this year. They have to win the next game to make the 3rd game the decider. But I still reckon they'll win this year, and that's coming from a qlder.

Has anyone here that has installed the lock bar on a R33 experienced this so called "heavy steering" at low speeds? -
Best Way To Pipe Front Mount Intercooler?
RBwhatever replied to jUsT-dRiFt-iT's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
If your wondering where you have to cut the hole, just get the kit and dummy fit it, that'll tell you where. The hole should end up being just under the washer bottle. Mark out where the hole is going to be then stitch drill it. A die-grinder comes in handy to smooth the edges. After the put some rubber edging around the edge of the hole to stop the metal rubbing on the aluminium piping. Remember to dummy fit the whole kit and intercooler together to make sure everything will line up. -
Did you block the little hole in it? or does it hold boost good with it open?
-
You can just use some chicken wire......... just kidding Apparently you can get stainless mesh from those sheetmetal guys, or as wraith said get that attack resistant security screen mesh.

Best Way To Pipe Front Mount Intercooler?
RBwhatever replied to jUsT-dRiFt-iT's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thats true. Depends what state your in and how strict they are etc. Although you can get such modifications approved by getting an engineers certificate/report and getting the car mod plated. I spoke my insurance company and they said, "as long as the modification is road worthy and they have been notified of the modification, then they'll cover you for it." This may not apply your insurance co though. -

You mean the hole on the driver side of the car? Just under the washer bottle. -
To Modify Or Not? Is It Really Worth It
RBwhatever replied to LatinR33's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yeah I see where your coming from. I just think it's beneficial to know what goes on under the bonnet. LatinR33, if your confident with touching things under the hood, then go for a do-it-yourself approach. If your not confident or don't have time(I might add), then take it to a good mechanic to make sure these things get done properly as per benm's post -
To Modify Or Not? Is It Really Worth It
RBwhatever replied to LatinR33's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I'll do all the bolt on mods and stuff that requires only your socket and spanner set and few screw drivers etc. I mean honestly, how hard is it to fit a pod, boost controllers, exhaust, strut braces, sway bars, intercoolers etc. But I agree with you on the tuning bit. Get the tuning done properly by someone that's reputable. -
To Modify Or Not? Is It Really Worth It
RBwhatever replied to LatinR33's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Totally not worth it. Your skyline will run your life onto the pits if you do......na just kidding Of course it worth it! Do it and you'll be very happy. Try and fit everything yourself and you'll save a lot of money in labour costs. Also if you do things yourself, you'll learn more about your car, gain confidence and knowledge on what to do if something goes wrong and what went wrong. You'll have a greater appreciation for your car as you work on it, curse at it, and watch it develop as you modify it. You will come across some small problems every now and again, but nothing some aftermarket bits won't fix. Unless of course you have one dud of a car, then you'll have second thoughts. -
For Sale Apexi Power Fc Commander
RBwhatever replied to daNom's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Might pay to give him a buzz on the el phono, after 5 of course. There might be a chance he's sold it already if he hasn't replied. -
I agree with the colder air hence denser air conditions. And yes making the car breathe better can also be a big contributer.
-
Pinging= Knocking, Detonation Retard=Retarding either Ignition or Cam timing. Means to take out degrees. Rich=Rich air/fuel ratio eg 11:1 (essentially means 11 parts air to 1 part fuel) Lean=Lean air/fuel ratio eg 14.7:1

Why Disable Hicas?
RBwhatever replied to DaveO74's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I had a similar experience to Beer Baron. Normal driving its fine. But when exiting sharper corners at speed, it feels like the back end is kicking out and sliding a bit, when in fact it wasn't, it's just the hicas re-adjusting. I don't really like that feeling.
