  1. I'm pretty sure the running gear is the same as the gtr (I think). You should have no problems with the drive line once its turboed. Might have to do the cv boots &/or joints though. As far as gearboxes go, the rb25det manual box is one of the strongest around, so no problems there either. Don't see many NA 4wd 4dr r33's getting around, so you'd be one of the few. Don't no the details on compression ratios.
  2. Has anyone used/have one of those stainless steel mesh pod filters? Any comments as far as filtering and flow goes and how they match up against cotton filters? I've heard to they're supposed to reusable/cleanable as well which is a plus. Cheers
  3. bumpity bump....... ?
  4. Not sure. Somewhere in the back of my mind says I've heard that they are. I'm probably wrong though...
  5. Hi mate, welcome to the forums Might be a vacuum leak somewhere if its hunting really bad on idle.
  6. Mine does that too. Its normal
  7. Last time I checked the R33 turbo coupe doesn't weigh 1500kgs. Spec sheets say 1370kg kerb weight(wet weight) I believe, which is the weight including all fluids like oils, water, fuel etc.
  8. Awesome. This should be stickied so it doesn't get bumped off.
  9. Dude, might have to try and find someone in your area. Maybe try posting in the QLD section since your in brissy. This section can be a bit slow sometimes.
  10. Thanks guys, I'll see how I go I suppose
  11. Cheers for the physics lesson stephen hahaha Exactly the same line of thoughts I have. Is it really worth chasing those extra 1-2kw/hp by putting in a partition/CAI? Seriously who's gonna tell the difference between 180rwkw and 182rwkw because they have a CAI. As stephen said also, when the car is moving isn't the air in the engine bay also being renewed with cooler air all the time? Ok so some of the air is being passed through the radiator and heating it up, but its not like all the air that enters the engine bay HAS to go through the radiator. It also has other entry points. As I have mentioned before, there are plenty of moderate to high hp cars getting around and they don't seem to bother with a CAI. There are many drift cars for example that don't run CAI or partitions. Yet you would think that the driving style and environment they drift in, it would be almost crucial that they get the coldest air, because the cars aren't necessarily moving very fast hence air flow into the engine bay isn't the quickest, and they're on boost for a majority of time and thats when it matters most. How much more crucial is it for us to have one? and yet most of our cars are street driven cars with half the output. Is having one just a peace of mind reassurance to know that your car is sucking in ambient temperature air? To know or suppose your making that extra couple of kw because it makes all the difference? I totally agree with Stephen when he says "If your that keen to make that extra 1-2 hp then make up a cold air intake, but its not essential." These are some reasonings challenging the "you must have a CAI if you want a pod, and if you don't, don't bother with the pod " statements. And yes I do know the reasonings why a CAI "should/is" better. But I suppose at the end of the day, all most of us want is for our car to be performing at its best and thats why we do it. If I'm wrong in my thinking, please give me some persuading evidence to say it makes all the difference. Cheers
  12. If you get the 4dr R34 GT-V it'll have all the gear the turbo version has, brakes etc.
  13. Its a replacement of the existing sway bars. all skylines & majority of all cars come with factory sway bars. It'll just be heavier duty sway bars you'll be installing.
  14. Edited 16/10/07: As per post#14 Hi people, I got a set of Whiteline fixed stabilizer bars off the GB for a 33. I just needed to know how long it would take to fit both front and rear bars. I'm assuming it would be a straight bolt off bolt on job without removing other components eg. exhaust. I've only got about 3hrs to play with on the weekend to try and fit it. Is that enough time? I'll be using ramps to get under the car too. Cheers
  15. Must be just the cops where I live then. They don't seem to worry about mods too much. None of the cops seem to bother me and are pretty easy going. Besides the point though, I'm looking at the performance difference side of things. Reg yeah you did tell me to go CAI if I get a pod
  16. Hmmm yeah good point. But up here in qld we don't get defected for that kind of stuff. It only has to be secured.
  17. Who did you send the pm to? if it was simark87 then he probably won't see it cos he hasn't been here since 19th July, 2006 - 08:23 AM. If you want one, they're on ebay under turbotech.
  18. One thing I want to know. I know there threads and threads about why having a sealed pod with cai is better than an exposed pod and I totally understand why it is etc etc, but is having an exposed pod really that bad? One thing I see a lot of in a lot of car magazines is exposed pod filters in the engine bays. You do occasionally see the sealed pod but a majority of them are exposed. Now these are on cars from low to moderate to high horse power. I myself have done my own testing as to the effects on fuel economy. I have a factory air box and have consistently done 500kms per 55L on average. I have then removed the air box lid to expose the panel filter to the engine bay heat and secured the filter down and have also left the snorkel on. Now I have done a few tanks with the lid off and must say I did not see any loss of power, response, idling quality, normal driving quality or under load quality even on hot humid days(FNQ weather). But most of all I did not see any negative effects on fuel consumption as I still easily got 500kms to 55L if not even a bit better. Now if these guys that are featured in car magazines (HPI, Autosalon etc) that have moderate to high horsepower cars, why do they run exposed pod filters if it really has that much of a degrading affect on power? Surely they're not that stupid. Even the mechanics that do the work on these cars, if it was such a big issue having an exposed pod, surely would they not have informed him that their car is sucking in too much hot air and killing their power output? So then my question stands, is there really that bigger difference in running a sealed with cai to an exposed air filter? Please enlighten me. Cheers
  19. Received the sway bays yesterday the 19/3/07. Big thanks to Sydneykid for organizing the group buy and doing such a good job of arranging things and thanks to Jamex for providing such good deals. I look forward to fitting these to my car
  20. my horn pressure plate went brittle and fell to pieces and that started rattling inside my steering wheel whenever I hit a bump or turned corners. Had to remove the plastic pressure plate because there was not much left of it. replaced it with the bottom of a coke tin and some zippy ties did wonders.
  21. 1. Probably leaking in through one of the taillights. Might need to be removed and resealed. 2. Fading happens all the time on r33's and r34's. Use some brasso to polish them clear again, then finish with meguires plastic X polish. Doesn't fully get rid of the yellow colour but is a huge improvement. 3. Could be the solenoid. I'm pretty sure the motors are common to fail, but don't quote me on that. 4. 10psi every day, only after you've got yourself a turbo back exhaust though. If you don't have one, then leave it at 7psi. 5. Beats me. Probably just get one from the wreckers. 6. In general the basic mods to do are: Turboback exhaust, bigger intercooler, boost controller, ecu or piggyback computer, pod filter (if its what you like), Possibly the fuel pump because they're getting old and can't keep up sometimes. 7. It's called HICAS. It only starts to operate at about 80kmh+. It is different to the 4 wheel steer on hondas and other cars. The rear wheels turn in the same direction(not opposite) as the front wheels. They only turn about 1 degree. It is fitted to improve handling rather than as a parking aid.
  22. You guys do realise that this topic is 2yrs old yes?
  23. how responsive are the xr6t's to bolt on upgrades?
