Stock R33 Exhaust Size

Are you in Australia? Just Jap sell gtr key blanks. Get one of those and grab one of your keys that "were cut badly". Bring them both to a locksmith. Ask to talk to a locksmith in the shop, don't talk to the counter chick or the apprentice. Ask them to "read the cuts" your crappy key and get them to cut a new "key by code" on a regular blank, just to make sure it works good and so they don't accidently stuff your gtr blank (they're about $50 ea for a gtr blank). If it works good then get them to cut it to your gtr blank. It'll probably cost you about $20 - $30 to get that done from a locksmith.

Is there a date engraved on the battery? That date would be the day it was fitted. Regular batterys only last for 2 or 3 years depending on what you buy. I had a battery die in my old pulsar, it started up all fine and dandy for 2 years, then one morning the car wouldn't start, so i charged it, the next day it was dead again. So i bought a new battery and everything was fine again. If your battery is old it probably just karked it.

Get a new battery.

Stock R33 Exhaust Size

just the cat back and dump pipe. In inches if possible. Thanks -
Does anybody know what size the stock exhaust system is on the R33's?

Somebody probably did see it. The thing is though, these days when you see someone picking up an object whether it be a shipping container or opening up a car door in the car park etc, you automatically assume its theirs. No one wants to go up to someone and say, "excuse me but is that your car your stepping into or are you stealing it?". It would just be rude to that to someone because the chances are it is probably theirs. Honestly if you saw a bunch of guys with a truck on the side of a road picking up a shipping container, if they're wearing the reflective vests then it would look pretty legit that it's their job to pick it up. It wouldn't even cross my mind to think that they're not in the right to take it if i was driving past. The same thing can happen with cars. Just my opinion....

How Often Are Skylines Stolen?
RBwhatever replied to Quinny's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
The fact is though, when you buy immobilisers, alarms etc etc for your car your only buying yourself some time. These are just deterents. The more money you spend on your immobiliser/alarm and set up the more time it takes the thief to figure it out and steal. So if its just a opportunistic thief he'll probably be deterred after he finds out the car can't be started easily or if the alarm goes off and doesn't want the attention. But if the thief is prepared or has planned the take and is willing to take the time to figure out what it takes to steal your car, then there's probably not much you can do. Remember if someone really wants your car they're going to take it. There is no such thing as making your car unstealable. Aarms/immobilisers just make it harder and longer for them to take. In my opinion I fully recommend getting an alarm and immobiliser fitted. Make sure it is done properly and the person/business doing it isn't doing it on the dodge. But that's just my opinion. -

Skyline Prices When New?
RBwhatever replied to b1ancardi's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I think he wants to know how much they were brand new in yen, then convert that yen to AU$. Like if he was in japan when the first 33's came out, how would he have to pay for one brand new in AU$.... Although currency has changed in value since then. -
I'm pretty sure there's meant to be a bracket that holds it still. That might be unbolted. Unless they've wrecked your whole column somehow....
-
I think its just the way your fuel guage drops. They're all different. Mine seems to drop more when it's around the E - 3/4 mark. When I fill up it will stay around the F mark for about 100kms or so then start to drop rapidly.

If "where the key goes into" is all pulled apart it sounds like the cylinder/barrel is stuffed. And a loose steering column? Does the whole column move up and down side to side? When you say kill switches I'm assuming you mean immobiliser's. The first thing i did when i bought my skyline was get an immobiliser fitted. Immobilisers can be activated in a few different ways depending on which one you buy. They can either have a code pad, a remote to activate/deactivate the immobiliser and lock/unlock the central locking, or just a switch hidden in the car. In all cases the immobiliser when activated, cuts power to the ignition switch or doesn't allow your fuel pump to turn on, so even if you put your key into the igintion and try to turn the car on, it won't start, therefore you can't go anyware. For a thief unless their really smart in auto electrics and had the time to try and figure out where underneath the dash it was wired up, or they were the one that wired up the immobiliser, they won't be going far. EDIT: grammer

There's also another fuse box in the boot, thats got english on it. Then there's another one just above your bonnet release lever, pull the cover off and you should find some fuses in there, except all the writing on the cover is in Japanese....bummer, i don't know what they say either.

Use some brasso, then finish with meguires plastic-x, meguires is about $15 for a bottle.

Umm yeah be a little more specific, like is it the steering lock assembly, the ignition switch (attached to the back of the steering lock assembly) or is it the ignition cylinder (the part the key goes into). 86-91 R31 Skylines and Pintara 89< R31 Pintara 87-91 N13 Pulsars 83-89 Z31 300ZX (make sure it has the key release push button) 83-87 Y30 Cedric or Gloria (make sure it has the key release push button) 90-93 NA31 Cefiro (i'm pretty sure....make sure it has the key release push button) 89-95 J30 Maxima (some had the same) 87< N13 NX/100NX/EXA (some had the same) 92< K11 Micra (some had the same) .....you get the picture These listed used the same steering lock assembly's and ignition cylinders as the r32, that means if you took one out of a r31 or n13 it will bolt straight up to your r32. Find a R31 or a N13 Pulsar would be your best bet as they're locally built and pretty common. If you do choose to use any other donar model, the best thing to do is to take yours off and bring it with you to a wrecker. Go to a wrecker find an old r31 or n13, get the steering lock assembly off(the ignition cylinder should be still inside of it, it'll be one unit), it probably won't have any keys so take it to a locksmith, give them the steering lock assembly and your key for the car (they'll need it to match the second hand ignition to your key). If your existing cylinder still turns ok then bring that with you, they might be able to still use it. If you've got the original/genuine nissan key for your car then even better. On the original keys they stamped a number, the locksmith can use that number to cut you a set of brand new keys. They'll only suggest to cut new keys are if your original keys are too worn to use......yes ok even though your original key seems to work fine in the locks, it's still worn and you need a new set anyway...believe me. If you don't have the original keys, just give them what you've got, they'll work it out. It's definitly not DIY job......but if you just so happen to get keys with it from the wreckers(unlikely) or if you buy genuine you can just unbolt your old one and bolt up the new one, you'll just have to put up with the inconvenience of not having one key for your boot, doors and ignition. If your going to bolt it up yourself you may have trouble removing the old one and putting on the new one. If you do get to that stage just post up again and I'll help you through it. Hope thats what your looking for PS- Get an immobilisor EDIT: Added info

I'm not from that area but you might want to post up some photo's to help people to recognize the car. What a bummer, hope he had insurance.

Are Ceramic Turbine Wheels Really That Bad?
RBwhatever replied to VB-'s topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I've heard as soon as you start boosting the stock turbo, even though it might not break you dramatically decrease the life of it.... -
"yeah that sounds a bit suss. Your tyres might be the problem here. but could i also ask a question has any1 had pineapples fitted to their 'line? wanted to know what people's thoughts on them were..." I don't have them, but i've heard they make huge differences in making the car more responsive and predictable when drifting and stuff.
-
Well as far as i know its the same all around. Sometiimes the recommended tyre pressure is on the tyre or on the car (on a maintenence sticker inside the door arch or under the hood?) or in the owners manual. The recommended tyre pressure is never given in 2 seperate figures for front and rear tyres. As for not hitting boost, i still don't think its unlikely to slip out. You did say you tapped the accelerator as you were exiting. You might have to take in other considerations like: Was it the first wet day in a while? This can contribute to the slipperyness of the road due to the accumulation of rubber, exhaust etc settling on the road. There wasn't any oil slicks or deisel or petrol on the road? You get the idea. As mentioned before if its not any of these it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to get your rear shocks/suspension checked out.
-
As far as tyre pressure goes, it sounds like you've got it too high aswell. I put in 34psi all around(some may not agree with 34psi, most like 32psi). But you gotta remember to set your pressure on cold tyres. So in other words i put in 34psi cold tyre pressure.
