  3. i already like the look of this.
  4. im not sure what you should run but you can get nismo lsd oil off just jap. i have heard people having a lot of trouble with boost control using the haltec and haltec solenoid. but others have non. it can also be caused by the plumbing of the waste gate. i had a heap of problems with mine to start with as i plumbed it the same as on a few different cars i knew and it gave odd problems. had to change it to a somewhat complicated setup and its been sweet ever since.
  5. comparing data from targa to bens day at the track the extra torque is what helps it punch a whole thought the air. during targa with the not so grate engine it would just about go backwards in 5th. they seem to have a fair jump from 4th to 5th. what ben has also not mentioned was the massive tail wind he had. haha it wasnt a grate day for either of us. but my blown clutch is a lot easer than the engine swap, again!
  6. what sort of boost control are you running? haltec or standalone? do you have an aftermarket diff or just standard nissan viscus?
  7. they are rubbish sizes pete. how did you go drifting?
  8. seems while at the alpine you may have been speaking to some blokes i work with. in a mr30 painted up in the old nissan colours. i got to nav in that for the final round of the tassie rally series. and helped build it along the way. my harness rests on my shoulders in both my car and passenger seat in bens car. its in about the middle of the opening when its on my shoulders.
  9. they always used to "fail" under race situations. not sure if these are a new breed or not but the tuner i use is a TS agent and he wont use there waste gates as he has seen to many fail. Tial stuff is cheap as out of the states at the moment as well. and ive never read a bad thing about them. im sure it will be fine im just not a fan.
  10. you can byt a very good paste that is suposed to stop that. i dont know the brand or where to get it but it works well.
  11. why did you go turbosmart over a tial gate?
  12. its actually a globe that does it. just like the oil pressure light. best to wire in a pilot light with a globe (not an LED) to excite the alternator and it severs as an indicator when it stops charging.
  13. is the girl in the pic the girl that owns it? i know a girl drives it i see it every day. i mean nothing bad by any of this but its no surprise to me as it was always parked on a street thats a bit of a main thurrow fair. the same people had all 4 rims stolen off a sprinter 6 or so months back. it was literally parked outside there bedroom window. what i want to know is if any of these cars actually have a decent imobiliser in them or not? regardless i hope it is returned in good condition as its one of the nicest 33 ive seen in tas.
  14. advertise them on Nissan silvia ! some flat-capper with a balla as ride just slamed a set of them shoes on his bus and now every jimmy wants a set to scrape his guards on
  15. very nice. i love the red over black 2 tone. i seen a r33 gtr painted like this once. red on black on a rs is as iconic as black and white sprinters in my books.
  16. ha you did you home work. we initaly asumed that the rb20de with a comp ratio of 10.2:1 was all in the bottom end. but its all in the head. the pic of the head has had no major machining just a quick plane. one of the local circuit guys has just had a det head machined to the equivilent to bens, while it has been readdembled it hasent been ran yet. so there seems to be no problems shaving a bit of the heads.
  17. No swaps or parting out just after a cash sale.
  18. an easy way to wire in a 12v separate battery for a long lasting intercom is to get a small fully sealed 12v battery (around $50 and the size of the old dolphin torch 9v battery) wire the intercom to that. then run positive and negative through a double pole switch to an ignition supply. during transport stages flick the switch on to charge the battery. when you pull up to get your gear on switch the switch off and no interference if you do this throughout the day you will keep the battery charged for the whole event and you wont have any noise. because these batteries are very small you dont need heavy wiring to charge them so its not a massive exercise. you need a doubble pole switch so it open circuits the positive and negative feed because if you only do one or the other you still can get noise. another thing that will improve noise is to wire in a large 12v capacitor. (not like the massive audio doof doof ones) just before the intercom itself. this will take out a fair chunk of the noise alone but it isnt always the best bet either.

  21. buy iiiiit heaps more street cred than your 33. haha
  22. close.
  23. if someone can work it out ill give them a prize. a few hints. old vs new graph. both e85 same turbo. same inlet. less boost than last time. that old graph is the engine that did a bearing before targa. the engine we did targa with had around 230 on the down hill sections. And top marks to ben. hes built this engine all by him self. ive had other commitments so ive only been able to help here and there.
