  1. all credability out the window in one post.
  2. hks made v cam. we can make b- cam
  3. dam it. i have no more secret trick cards to play.... haha. if you build your waste of money motor you will definatly be stickied again.
  4. every one has there own opinions of tuners and workshops. if your happy thats all that matters. definatly not the first place i would go but not the last either. everyone has questioned why you are changing the head gasket. you can take from this what you like but you are oviously new to skylines. i personly have never seen an original rb head gasket ever give a problem other than if the car has been overheated and has worped the head. the best way to get a good run out of any skyline is to not toutch the original engine bar providing safety mods. unless you are building race engines, and there is a big difference between race engines and road engines. take a bit of a look around this site. there is blokes putting out 350-400rwkw on stock un-opened rb25 neo motors. thats in drift cars copping a hiding. one bloke has drifted for well over a year 2 comps a month with 350rwkw on a stock un-opened engine. you asked about doing the water pump. these are best done while doing the timing belt. im sure your mechanic would advise you of this as the whole front of the engine has to come off to do the water pump so while your in there doing the timing belt may as well do the water pump. ive also never seen anyone put an oil pump in a rb unless its being rebuilt. the neo rb25 run a bit more refined oil pump than prevous models but the pump isnt usualy an issue unless its on an r32 GTR. the main point is the money spent stuffing around with the head on and off labour, head gasket, head studs, head grinding would go a long way towards a ECU upgrade. at a rought guess head gasket $250 head grind $100? studs $100? labour $700? thats half way to an ecu. or a decent clutch. the ecu will extract good power from the turbo even on the factory injectors. then put injectors in later on. they are one of the easiest parts to change out of all that is listed. its up to you in the long run mate but theres no need to re-invent the wheel. these engines have been played with time and time again with no dramas with the parts you want to change.
  5. ment to be now. well now i have seen it.
  6. i had a bit of a think tank and dragged a coupple of old heads and bits up from storage and worked out that if the gains were there to be had it was easy enough to make vvt work on a rb20 head. without modding the head. i took a bit of insperation from the HKS V-Cam and sussed it all out. i supose people just dont see the point developing rb20 engines but for us having to fit within engine size rules we have/ want to think outside the square. i think the whole project is just bringing good ideas from everywhere and putting them on one car. the super f1 spec engine is has actualy suprised us both in its designe.
  7. like i said ive never seen any good examples. jokes. well no i have seen it.
  8. i did wonder if id get some resistance to my comments. whist yes at the same power lever there is f all difference but the fact they have solid lifters and better designe through out makes them a different motor. i am also yet to see a good example of a stock r33 rb20 making 400rwkw. the few examples i know of have only been made with massive turbos with bad responce. i also know that a garrett is far from the best but the actual flow differences between a hiflow and a gt series is light years in my opinion. ive had real life experiances with both.
  9. a few things to note. simon runs a r34 neo rb25. they are a far more advanced engine than the r33 rb25. simons car has nearly 400rwkw not 250 but there is a fair bit of sicence behind a decent turbo and the flow caracheristics of a turbo and would say that even if you squized more power out of the turbo you have it still wont give you the same results as a gt series garrett. also its not the power as that is just a peak measurment. its all the area under the power curve that counts. it can also be alignment settings, tyre type and Key note tyre pressures that make tyres grip different.
  10. whos doing the work to your car?
  11. Rob if you dont have this thing at power chews this year im going to kill your babies!!!!!! id just like to see it run once more. im sure you would like that too.

  13. it was an older series turbo around the 3082r size. massive front wheel. i didnt get to realy drive it to see what it was like but it was laggy the new one is a 3071r off a mates rb20. mine made less power with similar boost because it wont accept any ignition timing. e85 will fix this ill be after somthing in the middle i think. justin- the cover have gone sorry mate. im about to have a big clean up of parts i no longer need. i got a fire blancket thanks. made a huge difference to noise. there is a club day im entering this weekend. yell out if you start the 25-GTR intske. ill tell you all you need to know.
