  1. sorry to back track. and o/t. but when i was seam welding around at the base of the A pillar area i blew a whole in the body and started a small fire. i had 2 mates watching and they thought it was funny as shit as i ran past the hose into the shed to find somthing to put the fire out with. no loom damage just a bit of burnt sound deadener.
  2. shotgun pods. and if the eleventy billionth guy in line for the gear nob pulls out ill take that 2.
  3. go inspired today by reading other build threads. Mainly thought that i owe it to fellow SAU readers to put more pics up ect. Screamer pipe finished off and bolted on. new stainless rear section added top side of sub frame showing the drift shrooms and also the welded on washers for the upper rear mount to keep fixed position. bonnet getting a revamp. welded up holes in bonnet. cut out more of the underside and tack welded the suport to the upper skin. going back to saturn black. carbon cover made for over part of the wiring loom. just to tidy it all up a bit. anyone know where i can get a flatter front strut brace as my current nismo one looks way to high now
  4. r32 280 r33 295 r34 310 sorry late at night

some people have obviously taken me the wrong way. im sorry to have put a dampener on the event but if you get that serious about a few words on the interweb you need to get out more. and go on cruises. where are you thinking about going?
  6. far from it wogboy. they take a 15mm bigger rotor and the mounting bolts are different. r32 180mm rotor r33 195mm rotor r34 210mm rotor and bigger mounting bolt. i had to drill the hles out on my r32 hubs to fit the r34 gear on. calipers look a far bit different to.
  7. had to go down that low to find the threaded part of the stud. its an ass of a job to get bushes out. bushes back in was the easy part.
  8. happy day. got my sub frame bushes today and pressed them in and bolted the sub frame up to make sure its all going to work. these are the Drift Mushrooms and one pressed in. they fit superb. if anyones keen My machinist friend is happy to make these to order.

well thats good to hear because i hate putting up with wingers on cruises. By the way im taking the piss. for people that go on cruises and meet other people they get to see what their real personality is like ect. im not organising anything just simply suggesting a nice pice of road to go on. i dont care if its a cruise to maccas 1/2 a k down the road but some of my friends are more willing to come on new and exciting roads. Volvo jokes just taking the piss. and people bite all to easy.
  10. well its pretty cool having 1 car space for the car and 1 car space to make stuff for the car. but when the money jobs come in it all gets packed up. never enough room. small update. R33 stock turbo is on and all associated piping back on. only thing left to do was modify my screamer pipe as it was dumping onto the chassis rail. now looks like this ill give it a coat of hot pink in the morning. to tidy it up a bit. and from underneath it looks like it sits higher than the chassis rail so it wont be the part collecting ripple strips. keen to see if it changes the note. i also like the look of lobster back thats why i dodgyed it up this way.

the last cruise that a few of us tried to get off the ground was out around mole creek, cefana, lake barington, paradise, shefield way. its all far better driving road than the sideling (road serfice wise) and the old scottsdale to st hellens loop has been done heaps. If you were to do something like that i could muster up half a dozen skylines. its an inspirational bit of road. but im not coming if theres going to be any nissans that look like volvos.
  12. Is that all youve done today. you lazy as mofo.
  13. after having worked on plenty of race cars with electrical dramas you get over trying to bend around roll cages so im putting it all in the one spot. this was all designed with a specially built foot rest in mind.
  14. i take the oh that cant be that hard. and if it did brake or fail its only going to do XXX amount of damage. when you see the size of the material and the the way its welded form the factory its not to hitec.
  15. give me 30k and ill have one built in under 6 months. you realy want the series 2 because thats when you learn from mistakes and have already fixed all the dud ideas. But bens is a series 2 for me as a lot of RnD of ideas has been done to my car. funnily enough the targa car i looked after 2 years ago is for sale and its 15K and about half way developed. Bilstines haltech seats cage big brakes light wheels. just needs some of the finer things done.
  16. Mounts are R31 specials. lol. $15 each brand new. how do you mean smooth? ive been hobby working with alloy for a few years now and its a pain in the ass. it marks way to easy. its 3mm thick so it hold its shape. usually i use a green scoring pad to give a brushed alloy look but used 1000 or 4000 grit sand paper to give a brushed alloy look.
  17. pics dont do it justice.
  18. as ben said im just going to take measurements strait off a r33 cradle. thats the most ill be doing to this sub frame for now. i am worried about the amount of sticktion my LCA may have but ill rectify if nesasary. Prototype bush has been made and going in for tidy ups on measurements tomorrow. should have completed units back by the weekend. lucky its a long weekend.
  19. first post for the F1 thread. (another cherrie i wont get back) i liked it. i dont get to watch much F1 but was better than any of the latest V8 races ive watched. I seen plenty of overtaking. but most of the time position was swaped back by the next corner. at least they have a crack. last time i seen a V8 do that was years ago. they struggle to drive off the race line. anywho was entertaining. big webber WTF thoe. no real need for what happened.
  20. we have got a selection of "light weight" PS components off other cars so not the standard setup. thanks for the heads up thoe. Oh and have you seen Bens arms. he struggles to turn a shopping trolly without power steering!!!
  21. update. pulled apart original sub frame removing all the all the arms ready to be cleaned and reassembled on the new sub frame. Found 3 out of 4 rose joints were beyond their used by date. these were originally Just jap arms and i thought that they would be impossible to get replacement joints for but turns out they are a commonish size and reasonably priced. Note to self: this is not a "cheap" "Budget motor sport" Mod for your car. worn rose joint/ rod end. the bras bush has worn and the whole lot jiggles. next was onto making the new front LCA mount on the subframe. i got some 50 x 100 x3mm RHS steel and some 30 x 30 x3 angle to do the few mods. turns out working out where to put the mount and getting it spot on isnt quite as hard as i had first thought. this is a prototype to see if i would even attempt making my own mounts dont get to woried it wont look like that. i also got some washers and drilled the centres out to be a snug fit on the suspension bolts so i could do this rear mod. the rear upper control arm is elongated to allow factory adjustment and this has a big heavy bolt designed to adjust the camber. to get rid of the bolt and to move the hole as far out as possible im welding washers on to the sub frame. the pic shows the elongated hole from behind and where the washer will sit. if your concerned that 2 washers doesnt seem strong enough than have a look at the thickness of all the other pick up points. this is the difference in bolts used for the job. with a little luck on my side i will have a sample subframe bush made up ready for testing by the weekend and the diff will be back with a new ratio. the suede will fade in direct sun light because its not of motor industry quality. mines not showing to much dust and dirt but being black it hides it well. if you want it to look all flash and new than id wait. depends how much dust is going to be in your car.

  23. besides all that the hardest part of it is the neo DE engines dont have the oil and water gallerie ports for the turbo oil and water lines to just plumb into. so this means some work is needed on the block to make it work. its not a straight forward bolt on anyway. a bloke on this forum did it with all the results of his progress a few years ago. it was a 4 door neo de auto i think.
  24. Progress has slowed due to me being a lazy bugger and ben taking all week to change the seat rails. im currently on wires and their not overly photogenic but i will have some cool things done by the end of the weekend one hopes. oh and its bens birthday today. he turned 14.
  25. wow the new ones i priced up were around the $350 mark for future reference.
