  1. i read the article tonight or skimmed it, had better stuff to do. basically they are not happy with dirt filled tyres that still line some parts of the track. thay are concerned that they rebound the car off with way to much force and can cause more harm than good. general gist. as far as my mate and could think there isnt even that many places around the track that is still lined with them. its all gay anyway it will just force track hire ect up and we will all have to pay.
  2. hi all if you happen to have or know of an red top rb20 engines around could you please let me know. im chasing a part off one. thanks damo
  3. after looking at one of the cars in question we thought about this option as it would look very stealth but i dont think it will be enough. but i am thinking about re-fitting my old P/S cooler there and plumbing it into the return because as you say its cheap and easy and weighs f all.
  4. WoW thanks for the feed back. i dont think i need anything for my car just yet but it is now on the to-do list for my car. and i will be monitoring some of the circuit racing skylines to see if its a problem for them. After talking it over with a few mates we realised that it happens to two blokes that have high mount turbos in r32 gtst with stock bonnets where as most of the circuit r32s have vented bonnets. that may also be a cause.
  5. Ok sorry for somthing that should be in the forced induction part of the site but there seems to be plenty of clever people in the motor sport section. Ok so after chatting with a mate last night he told me he was having trouble with his fuel getting too hot in his surge tank and causing the cars power to die off. he was recommended that he fit a fuel cooler. his car is a 300odd kw Rb25 in a R32 that is used for Drift mainly just for some back ground info. i was a bit blow away by him saying that for 2 reasons. 1 i have limited experiences but Ive never seen or head of it before in similar cars in similar circumstances. ie i know of plenty of circuit cars that have never had this problem. and 2 another friend of mine has a similar issue with his car as far as after an hour of spirited driving the fuel pump and surge tank gets hot to touch and than he gets a drop in power. Is it somthing to do with the size of the surge tank or the plumbing of the tank because i can think of half a dozen R32s that have surge tanks, similar power and do a similar amount of work and only 2 out of 6 or more have dramas? Can any one shed some light on what mainly causes it besides under bonnet temps? On a side note i do remember one or two of the V8 super Taxis teams being pinned for running the fuel lines through a drink or suit cooler in the car to give them a slight power advantage. If colder fuel is better (more power) is it worth cooling the fuel for the end result? i know ive asked lots of questions but ive just never seen or heard about it in the amount of cars that are about. thanks Damo
  6. we have just put an apexi power FC pro on a mates car. it cuts ignition not fuel on the limiter. it does it this way as the Power FC pro has launch control. one other feature it has that we didnt realise is when backing off it dumps fuel on over run and shoots massive flames. this is on a race car by the way. after seeing how good it worked i considered the Bee R but after a few quick searches it looks like a crap pice of gear. So besides every one saying its just crap what are the technical down sides and also is the launch control any good on it? sorry to hijack
  7. full loom/relays crossover pipe intake PS pump ECU AFM engine earth wire the big black and yellow one complete i should have all of these. i will confirm tonight and get back to you with a price.
  8. na its been made to 400R spec with a 2.8L and the 400r kit. it was a rush job to fit it up in time and i think it will be coming back off for some more attention.
  9. Practice starts at 9:45 in the morning top 16 battels at about 12:45 Team drift at 3 and if you come and spectate there is a possibility to win a ride.
  10. seems every one is updated. Woolster is going faster now that he has scratched the paint. its not going to get much worse. i took a pair of indicators and a mirror up for him but i believe there is minimal damage bar cosmetic. 2 R35s off today. i came across the Steve Jones crash. wasnt to bad as far as car damage. navigator was out and walking but steve was still in the car when i left and i have since heard that he was taken to hospital with lower back pain. they would have had some hang time judging by the speed and hill he launched over. according to everyone launch control is the ducks nuts on a GTR. every one has been commenting on the mainions car off the line. we rotated tyres today and it seems the aggressive launches dont do much for the rear tyres. well im off down the west coast. no phone and no internet for the next few days. good luck to every one
  11. I woke up to RAIN today! its going to be a fun day. plus its RAINED heavy all night so things are going to get loose. no i didnt say that FATZ
  12. well rookie is over and Snowy wone that. good on you snow man and the Z-Tune looks the goods to. because he wone he gets free entry into the full event next year. i hope to see it back. After analyzing the data off bens (sav) Track mate we found that he pulls 1.7 Geez (G-Force) in braking, but that also lead to the demise of a rear brake rotor by the start of longford (last stage for today). So i have just got home from a drive to Devenport to pick up a replacement pair of rotors and fitting them. Also Apexi Power FC pros with launch control are the shit. just ask ben. its good to see all the GTR's up there and so close together. i would also like to point out that there was even a r31 2 door entered this year giving the skyline an appearance in R31 to 35.
  13. yep the 33 crew is out of the running but not out of the event. old Manion had a spin and got stuck in the mud on stage 3 this morning and missed the next stage so 2 dropped stages. apparently if they had a front diff they would have got the 4wd out. ben said they tried to use the HKS atezza controller to pull them out but with no luck. Ben also had a few spins. apparently using a gravel escape road then using all his dorift skills he has lean from me did a hand-breaky 180 much to the amusement of everyone watching. Good on the Nissans.
  14. some updates for lazy people Sav Man and his dad. 895 are 5th in class. Woolster and Tim are 2nd late clasic. Snowman i think is leading rookie. 3 R35's in the top 10?
  15. big pics update. ive been updating other threads but not this one cos im lazy. cage is now in and half painted. r34 brakes are on 100% now just need to flush and bleed system. Pics of the D1R's fitted Ben at SPG sourced me some wide body rear guards but they wont see the car for a while. and i picked up a spare Rb25 gear box, OS Giken clutch and GTR cooler core thanks to Rons Automotive.
  16. Rotors are sold to pipster a few weeks back but the rims are still for sale. ive had no time to get a pic as they arent where my car is currently. just search for 300zx rims.
  17. so does it come with oil lines and dump pipe? sorry for the sill question but only turbo manifold and gate were listed. what brand is the gate? haw long have you had it running on your car? kms? thanks damo
  18. well ill wait and see but im just looking to get into the local circuit racing scene. ill get some more pics up of the headlight soon. it seems to work a treat. i missed a fair few bits off the build but its just an over view. nothing has been installed yet. if you crash earlier in Targa this year you can help me put them in haha. thanks for the comments. its been an event full journey
  19. Lenso D1R thats what they are called. Apparently hard to get in white. i had to wait for a new shipment to arrive. they will not fit your car in my off sets with out guard work. i think they are available in lower offsets thoe. they are suposed to be the new drift teck but they look crap in black because you cant see the dish. i used to have a pair of the same work wheels you have and they are pretty rare.
  20. i thought i should formally introduce myself as i just jump in and out of SAU topics all the time. This is my car i have built up over the past 18 months and counting. best thing about it is i have been racing/using it while building it. late 08 i took delivery of a stock r32gts with a RB25DE i transfered all the stuff i salvaged off my old burnt out shell. main stuff from this was a RB25det Gear box custom tail shaft and auto diff. also a lot of suspension bits. sway bars and adjustable arms then i sat and pondered what to do with the engine. sell it and get some thing else or turbo it? after consulting a few people who had had good outcomes with RB25de+t i decided to bolt one up. i sourced a r33 turbo manifold, i had a stainless split dump pipe, and i robbed a spare Rb20 for the oil and water lines. A r34 neo turbo fell into my lab by chance and i got another cheap R32GTR inter cooler and cheap IC piping kit (just done the same thing to my old car) during the engine freshen up i got a Sparco seat recaro bolt in rail and a brand new harness ready to hit the track. while all this was being done to the car i was trying to sort out the best possible way to go with the ECU while maintain a modest budget. the best option turned out to be the good old Apexi Power FC for a RB26dett. i sourced the wiring diagrams to modify the PFC to run on my engine and also picked up some GTR injectors and an MR30 resistor pack. i got the car running and out on the track for a practice day one week before the first round of the 08 Drift Australia round in Tasmania. the only fault with the car was blowing IC pipes off at only 10psi I made it the following weekend to Drift Australia to compete in super drift where i qualified 9th and finished 11th in my first ever competitive outing. the next outing was round 1 of the Tas Drift series where i had zero dramas with the car all day and finished 6th. like most budget builds what ever i can do my self gets done so amongst all my horse trading i ended up with a Z tune style bonnet vent and after may hours my best mate and i made it look like it was meant to be. in the process i cut the front off and fitted a Nismo splitter to cover up the cutting job. this bonnet while not being much lighter than stock has never seen engine bay temps higher than 95deg even club daying during summer. between the next few rounds i got the car dynoed as it had only been ruff tuned by a mate up until now. the dyno netted 194rwkw on 10psi but was backed off due to a slipping clutch. new clutch in and a few more events achieved but nothing real major was done to the car just the usual maintenance. i ended up finishing 4th in that Tassy Drift series for 08. round 5^^^ then i thought id take a few months off and this happened and i made a new cluster and a switch pannel then i took it stripped down to a club day with some new 17" rims sporting dunlop semi's i like to build things so i built a CAI and air box after 12 months of drifting the front end was a mess so i got some GTR guards and a GTR bar and a Vail side front lip which has now been repaired 3 times. brand new coil overs were the only thing the car really needed so i got some of the new Pedders ones and then i also re-trimmed my dash in seuwed to stop reflection off the dash. i was asked to do the drift demos at power cruise in tassy so the car was rushed back together once again and i made the most of it. After round 1 of the 09 Tassy drift series i decided that it was time to take a more serious approach and get a roll cage so i can move up maybe to circuit racing a Bond Roll Bars weld in kit was ordered and has been my latest project for the car. it has taken me a fair bit of time as i do all bar the final welding myself but i am pretty happy with the end result which is 2 bars off being finished while the cage has been going in to keep myself sane i have upgraded the front brakes to R34 GTT calipers and rotors. only one slight mod was needed to fit these and i am keen to see how hey perform over the stock r32 things. tech note that they are 30mm bigger diamiter rotors. sorry if this has been a bit long but hopefully some people take some ideas from the stuff i have made and done. thanks for reading Damien
  21. id forgot to add some pics of my new wheels. no distance shots yet as its in the process of getting a cage and is stuck in a shed. i was undecided so i picked 2 of each. Origin DNA-01 17x9.5 +15 CST hyper zero 17x9.5 +15 and Lenso D1R 17x10 +15 i still havent fitted them up and looked closely at them yet. the lenso's still havent got rubber on them but they are Skid rims only.
  22. i will get some at some stage soon. yep rotors are now sold. wheels still avalable
  23. 2 or 4 door?
  24. yea but she gets in the way while im trying to work. plus she talks about horses to much
  25. well when he changes his mind and gest dry ice can you get some extra for me.
