Demon, I'd be interested on the progress of your claim. Out of curiosity what was your premium & excess? Our policy is coming up for renewal on the GTR (currently Rating 1 with Just Cars @$1670) which so far we are quite happy, I suppose beause we have a number of policies with AAMI & Just Cars. However it's always good to support those who support the Skylines Club, and this time round we're seriously considering Famous. Initially we planned to join Famous but were worried about their underwriters which was some time ago now. Cheers

I'm thinking out loud here, but goig back about ~11 years ago I had a suzuki swift gti, going in for a timing belt/cam belt change. Apparantley the pulley needed to be put on a special way which the mechanic did not do.. we drove about 80k's, and when we tried to restart the car, it would not start... Thankfully it didn't blow the motor, but was an expensive tow from Bells Beach to Melbourne, ended up taking the matter to the Small Claims tribunal and won.

Flat Change features in After Market - ECU's
meshmesh replied to meshmesh's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Bj, that sounds about right, from that thread I read from some US forum. I believe the car in question (need to find that mpeg) was a blue 01/02 WRX from Western Australia running a Link ECU with proper AntiLag (eg: from Idle.. the sounds ballastic). BUT, I don't want to confuse that sort of Anti Lag with Flat shifting, or maybe I'm just confusing myself.. -
Black, Wide Rims For Sale
meshmesh replied to shy180's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
shy180, nice wheels, but although they may fit GTR's, a GTR need the same size wheel allround, otherwise you will have prolems with the ATTESSA. -
Wow! what a small world

thaks maximajim, but i thought "Antilag" which I believe Link ECU's have, is alittle different. I roughly remember reading how bad it is for the turbo life and exhausts.. I think the difference was "AntiLag" is activated straight from idle, where launch control & flat shift are induced by clutch switches, and "maybe - no expert here" are not as harmful as real "AntiLag"? -
I may aswell ad an interesting thing I saw.. not a skyline owner, Centre Rd Bentleigh I think... some big Mauri bloke, looked like a skinny version of Jonah Lamoo, wearing an All Black Jacket, Black Beani, gets out of a soarer with a half finished front spoiler heading towards this car full of bikies.. "he must have had a road rage with them", when the bikies saw this Skinny version of Jonah Lamoo running towards them they floored it straight through the red light.

Oooh My.... this does not make sense at all  regardless of what car you drive, no-onne is guilty of... Launching of at the lights? Breaking the speed limit? Street racing? Throwing a cigarette out the window? Installing illegal/un engineered mods to your vehicles? Trying to rip it sideways in the wet? The list could on and on.. I think most can agree there is an obvious line when someone becomes a full on tossa... but I think it's highly unlikely I see any innocent angels around here. By the way, what's to say this is not watched by a pig, and someone's statement is used against the person/rego named? The media got it wrong naming the chick in a skyline, and you quoting her in skyline, when the fact is she was driving a 300zx!

Flat Change features in After Market - ECU's

Interesting, as I think SydneyKid, and some others who I can't remember right now, use the Datalogic with their Power FC's... -
Gojira, if you and other tyres kickers keep going the way you're all going.. I'll have no tyres left to kick, and be selling the car just on its rims :jk: It's Non Vspec.. Original thread updated.

Hi Roy, Just asked him, and he said it is basically an ignition cut set to a certain rpm, in his case 5700rpm. -
Can Q45 AFMs be used on GTR with Power FC?
meshmesh replied to Russco's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hang on... I know you can use the Q45, but I vaguely remember there are a few "very minor" complications... don't hold me to it but I think: 1. The power fc does not have a seletion for the Q45 as opposed to the Z32?? 2. Something to do with the installation of the Q45's, a lot more fiddling and more parts required?? Again don't hold me to it, but we were looking to go that way for our GTR, instead we opted for the Z32's. -
woooo hooooo!!!!! 320kw @all 4 from 1.25bar!! that's better than the 2530's!!!

Flat Change features in After Market - ECU's

Agreed in the higher gears, though 1st to 2nd..is questionable. But what he told me is, as soon as you release your foot off the acellerator, you release the boost pressure build up. Wheras with his system, boost is always on cause his foot never comes off the accellerator. And just by the way it changes gears, you don't get that "momentary" jolting when changing normally, it's feels like a constant push in the back through the gears. -
You reckon?? That's not the case here in Victoria, all the cops have to say is "This is a routine check", and that's good enough a reason.

Yes..that's what I wanted to know. Can anyone confirm this and are there any difference's in the Apexi Power FC Pro & the Standards version? -
Was with a mate on the weekend getting his STi MY03 tuned, and he told me about a feature of this particular ECU (U-tec) that enables perfect flat changes.. Im like yeh right, until he took me for a drive, and was "wow'd" by the experience, it felt like being on motor bike. The gear changes were so smooth you didn't get any jolting whatsoever, the rpm during changes which were done around 7500, did not fall below 5800-6000. The way he explained didn't make much sense to me, but did sound convincing. When a normal car flat changes, the accellerator is kept all the way to floor, whilst you are changing gears, when this happens the revs fly back until you release the clutch and the car stays pretty much on boost. The feature he has, apparantely cuts ignition somehwere in the process, which stops the revs from flying back up, during the flat change. The feeling was so addictive I wanted one for the GTR, but apparantley the ecu company "U-tec" only make them for wrx's. The gear changes were literally like driving a dog box, super quick & super smooth. This ecu also has launch control, and I was thinking the flat feature was a by-feature of the lauch control function that cuts ingnition. Apexi make the Power FC Pro which has lauch control and wodering whether this feature could be achieved with the Apexi Power FC Pro?? Anyhow he hopes to run it a Calder this week, with the mods we're expecting a mid to high 11..

surely you guys in SA don't have it as bad as us Victorians??.. we have become ammune to the cops, the State "Labour" Goverment and the EPA screwing import owners. However the results of a community backlash (not just the "Hoons") against mainly the cops and the State Gov, seem to be showing as more and more speak up.

Gavin Wood S-AFC Tune Results GOOD!
meshmesh replied to Mcboost's topic in General Automotive Discussion
good news, but 14:1??? isn't that too lean? I thought around 12-12.5 was on the mark. Then again, I was with a mate on the weekend whilst they were tuning his Sti MY03 and the AF ratio's were tuned to 10:1 ... -
HKS Boost Controller Problems. Help !
meshmesh replied to GTRman1992's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
GTRman, A couple of questions.. What version EVC? < doesn't really matter, just helps to know. Have you completed the "Learning Mode" feature?.. because if you beieve the EBC is fitted correctly, then your problem sounds similar to what I had with my HKS. Turned out I just needed to run a full "Reset", and then run the "Learning Mode" function, as specified in the HKS manual which can be downloaded... all is perfect and IMHO, the HKS is the best when it comes to EBC's. -
Sure.. tomorrow night. That's how I bought it, I assume the old owner cracked the original "too easy to do " and replaced it with a fibreglass series2.. considering the genuine Nissan lip is worth $1300~. We have ordered a non genuine series 3 lip (coz we cracked the current lip) which will be fitted to the car in the next week. Hi Matt, Spoke to my mate this evening, I asked again not to forget to keep his eyes open for 33's... He said he is still looking, I have not forgotten you. The good news however is the deal for my Silver R34 "apparantley a 2001" is looking like the trade will go ahead... fingers crossed!

I think DAN is looking for anyone who has these fitted to a GTR...
