faulty Knock sensor or detonation?
meshmesh replied to GunMetalR33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I'm going by what I am told, and the reason (as I understand it! - and I'm not technically advanced)was there is no timing or something on ignition start up. stand to be corrected. -
faulty Knock sensor or detonation?
meshmesh replied to GunMetalR33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Sounds like it's picking up other vibrations/noises.. because you cannot get knock on startup. I believe most tuners can check the knock manually (and not via the PFC Hand Controller) by listening via mic's.. see if your guy can do it. -
faulty Knock sensor or detonation?
meshmesh replied to GunMetalR33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hmmm.. 1. faulty knock sensors When you first start the car what knock level do you get? I was told that sometimes knock sensors can pick up other vibrations, noises eg: mutli plate clutch rattles etc etc. -
Who's using HKS EVC Boost Controller
meshmesh replied to meshmesh's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Just thought I update this thread... My problem is all fixed now.. turned out the evc needed a RESET & LEARNING MODE run. I basiclly followed the instructions as detailed in the EVC setup manual. The boost now holds/reads perfectly, and the OFFSET mode setting is spot on 100 where it should be. After the RESET & LEARNING MODE runs, I also turned off the AUTO ADJUST setting as specified in the manual which it recommends to do, simply by: Turn the Ignition to ON, holding the MOD button, flick the SW-PO switch > wait for the beep (still holding te MOD button) then return it SW-PO to it's original position and you should hear another beep. So if anyone is having issue with boost readings going over the set boost levels, and you cannot adjust your OFFSET any more (eg: 50 or 150 - like me) just do the above or refer to the manual. -
GTR parts for sale~~
meshmesh replied to TRIAL_GTR's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Hey JAck, here's a link to the wheels... http://www.car-rims.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=enke365 PS: I'll be down at ICE on Sat.. final tuning adjustments. -
I was warned against aluminium radiators for street use as they tend to hold much more heat when used for day to day stop start driving. Race wise, aluminium is another story.

Hi mick, I think I saw someone selling some brand-new tyres (pretty sure was that size) in the forsale section. asking 800~ -
Question: Jamesh.. be careful what you say mate you might find yourself in quarantine very soon! by the sounds of it.. i think you may have a UFO on your hands. Or your car is the only one of it's kind inthe world and maybe fitted with VBGR-TEC "Variable Boost Gear Ratio's - TEC" Hear me out, cause I might have to slap myself in a minute to make sure I'm not going loopy aswell - Let's do some maths here for the hell of it.. Math guru's correct me if I'm wrong. Your saying by increasing your boost from 7psi by 3psi to 10psi or (45% gain) gives you an extra 20km/h from 80km/h to 100km/h in 2nd gear (increase of 25% gain in speed) Based on that theory, if you were to increase your boost from 7psi to 14psi this what would happen based on your theory: Example 1. In 2nd Gear @ 7psi max speed =80kmh In 2nd Gear @ 14psi max speed =124kmh I wanna know what sort of gearing your running coz I want it. Example 2. Your cars speedo says 240kmh and the max speed is 240kmh @ the factory boost of 7psi. In 5th Gear @7psi max speed =240kmh In 5th Gear @14psi max speed =372kmh < Maybe you drive a Mclaren? My calculations are based on jamesh's theory of every 1% increase in boost equates to 0.55% increase in speed.

No offence, jamesh... but I think you have just re-invented the wheel! And maybe you need to go out & give lessons to all race drivers throught the world. Mate you nowhere near it. What you have just described is known as "fanning" or "stepping" or "popping" BUT NOT DOUBLE CLUTCHING .. commonly used by motorclyclist (eg: 2 strokes wanting to hit band) probably the worst thing you could do to your clutch and drivetrain. Yes your correct this is only good for turbo cars, because and mainly used during rolling start runs. EG: I'm in (any gear you want say 4th for arguments sake) My boost doesn't hit till 3000rpm, my revs are showing 2500 at our rolling start speed.. the guy next me says GO, Whilsts I'm flooring it, I "pop the clutch" or "fan the clutch" to throw my car into a semi neutral, the revs fly up I release & I'm suddenly building boost. Bingo... Double clutching is as already described and "to some extent" better when going down gears from 4th to 3rd or 4th to 2nd, and most effective whilst going up hill so you don't loose momentum, and prevents compression lock, but so does heel and toeing.

Uuumh our GTR is White, and No the E55 is fine thanks.. And yes the E55 rips the ass off just about anything especially when it comes to rolling starts. even our GTR which is pushing 320kw at the wheels. well not rip but the GTR keeps up but can't get away.

B-Man: I got it from OWS Oils the cost is about $450-500, I think their website is www.ows.com.au The product is Broquet Boostmaster "their website is www.broquet.co.uk Jimbo2000: Yes there are a few types, one has "magic steel balls" that sit in your tank, or the one I have the B40 "Steel tube about 25cm long" that sits in my fuel line, after the fuel filter in my engine bay. That makes sense.. I filled up again yesterday and got an average of 16ltr/100km.. so the fuel consumption may be down a little, but nothing dramatic. I guess what I'm looking for is not so much fuel ecomony, it's the claimed alternative/similararity to "Water/Methanol Injection" and being able to safely advance timing by the reduce knock levels and better fuel levels. I am starting to think that perhaps the model they have given me is too small for my application seeing the GTR is pushing 500+hp at the motor. The next model up is called the "Top Fuel" which is nearly as big as a Catch Can and cost around $1000... at that price i ca't see it being a good buy $ for performance value. I've spoken to a few techs about the product, and they said it pretty much does what JimX said, how it's magnetise's the fuel taking out things that shouldn't be there etc etc.. I'll keep you all updated once it goes on the dyno.

I thought you said they traded your car for cash & gave you an S15?? biatch biatch?
-
I don't know if mine are blitz or not, but yes they squeel like hell at low speeds. All I can say is get used to funny "oh my god he needs some brakes" looks.
-
Hmmmm! Nice Colour But at bling bling dollars, nothings perfect. We just received a recall on ours something to do with the braking system.
