  1. I'll be getting these, soon. Was supposed to go in today to the tuners, matbe later this week. I can occassionally smell fuel, so I dunno if that's also related to running rich. WOW!! 40. mine rarely get over 13~, the max I'll see is 21~ under hard accellerating. Funning thing though, I had the car serviced with an oil & filter change using mobil 1 full syn, & the backfiring is still there but not as bad ??(maybe I'm just imaginin things)
  2. I was thinking, if what these guys are saying is possible, about attaching the Thermoelectrics thingo's to the block & using that energy to cool. Then would it be possible to.. a) build a sort of "fridge Cold Air Intake Box" around the PODS B) controll/power & cool water sprays, to the intercooler, & maybe spray the air via the cold air intake. I'm not into all this but, they mentioned something, that by attaching these to the block will actually cool the block down significantly, whilst using the heat as energy to power something else, is this correct?
  3. This is a typrical case of being "unrealistic"... the issue is "unrealistic measurement of being 3km over". I dont think anyone disagrees with "excessive" speeding, but to be ~5-8km over, & most times it's for that second of concentration, sloping road, overtaking...etc is "unrealistic" How can the consumer be supplied an inaccurate product that passes Government standards, then have the onus passed onto the consumer for obeying this inaccurate product for it's faults. Alternate Issues like heat expanding tyres, tyre wear, etc..will effect the speedo readings. Whilst I'm in a b!tching mood, why target "lovers of cars" for EPA's, RWC, etc.. when I believe we look after our cars better than 95% of those everyday drivers, with bald uniflated tyres, blowing blue smoke into the atmo... As far as cops "oh & the EPA" are concerned, I've lost all respect for them and they get no assistance from me & many others. The reason is because they talk the talk but dont walk the walk, they say "it's OK to dob in someone" but they won't dob in themselves when knowingly camera's read incorrect, revenue raising of fines, ticketing targets..etc. Only recently have they started to expose these issue's & good I hope it continues. On a last note, "the law (gov, cops, epa) have found it's own loop holes & thinks it's hold the aces" for now maybe, but you can't win each hand for long, when socitey bites em on the @ss next time they need help, they'll realise they should have listened earlier.
  4. VicRoads should point you in the right direction.
  5. Just wondering how true all this is, & whether it could be used toward eg: freezing/cooling ait intake to the CAI PODS, or keeping cold air at the intercooler.. etc etc. Below is a quote from the original site/forum I found it at. Electricity-Generating Car Cooling System Special heat cells are placed around the engine block to generate extra electricity. They have these special heat cells out now that are like solar cells, except they are tuned to work with pure heat instead of light. You could put some around the engine block. This would use up the heat, which would cool the engine. There would be a backup cooling system in case the car needed it. There would also still be an alternator. Maybe while the alternator ran the car's electrical system, the heat cells could charge an extra battery or something that you could download into your house for use or maybe hook up a special thing at the gas station and sell the power back for a gas price discount. This would be very good in hybrids. http://www.halfbakery.com/idea/Electricity...ooling_20System This company sells all the stuf.. I'm buggered what to do with it, hoping someone could shed some light on the subject http://www.melcor.com/
  6. Thanks kjb_r33  to me I dunno WTF your talking about, but I'll let my tuner know I'm sure he'll understand alot better than this dumb @ss
  7. Hi kjb_r33, OK Thanks for that, but could you elabirate a little more, like how do we go about fixing it? Also, what's your thought about leaning it out a little more, if my max knock levels hit around 30 on the Power FC HC, is this ok?
  8. I'm sure the GT30 I quoted was the GT3040 @ $1910~Inc GST.
  9. Hi Cameron, I wouldn't know, as I said in my original post, I'm not a turbo expert. I've just been able to land a good deal for the forum. I'd suggest to first enquire with turbo specialists, or tuners about your turbo options, then let me know which model you want. meshmesh
  10. Hi GT-Rmgedon, I've had my Cat checked when I had the front pipes installed, It is as stock as they come. After speaking to a mate today "whilst out on the boat in beautiful port phillip bay melbourne amongst the 1.5metre swells" He thinks it could be a number of things, eg: 1. O2 Sensor "apparantley if this fails it should show an error code, but he has seen case where the O2 sensor was stuffed & shown no error code" 2. My rear bumper has to be cleaned every 2-3 days, because of exhaust stains. He thinks this could be 2 things, a) running rich or B) sh!t oil passing through the motor & into the exhaust. 3. I have also noticed the smell of petrol fumes at times. I had him follow me, & as I accellerated he stayed behind to see. He said the car "smells like its running rich" & thatalong with a puff of smoke, he could smell the fuel from the car behind. Getting an oil/filter changed tomorrow using Mobil 1 fully synthetic, then back on the dyno monday. I read a post on SAU mentioning something about the Power FC needs to know that the car is fitted with PODS & not the standard air box/filter see link http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...68&postcount=17.
  11. We thought that aswell, but the BOV are stock. I'm thinking "no expert either" what if we leaned it out a bit? Could my knock levels be ok upto/around ~30. Currenlty the max I have seen is 21~23 but normal driving sees around 13~16. If I understand correctly the backfire/bomb effect is due to unburnt fuel getting through the exhaust. Then would this be related to either ignition, timing, or air fuel mixtures. Could it be my air fuel mixtures, or my coil pack? I dunno, the sound is awsome & sure scares the crap out of people, but it can get annoying & not really sure if it can cause harm to the motor etc...
  12. Guys the GTR has always run pretty rich, & made the "snap, crackle, POP" from the exhaust. But after tuning the Power FC, the car runs like a dream, very smooth & linear power, but I am getting some pretty bad "POPS" from the exhaust, I wouldn't be supprised if flames are coming out. So I was at ICE yeaterday, & we changed the plugs to "Iritop 7", Changed the "I think its called" Inginition Heat Sink on the top of the Rocket Cover towards the back, cause it was upside down "for some reason". This seem to have help but, nothing major. The "BIG POPS" tend to happen during gear changes "Off Load" eg: In 2nd revving at 5K, Clutch in, Off the accellerator, Changed to 3rd, softly back onto accellerator "BIG POP, that sounds like a mini bomb just went off vibration through the car" then continue to accellerate. My knock levels are around 14 the max doen't get over 21~23. _also, I get around 300-320km per tank. At least 50% is hwy, with a fuel comsumption averaging ~15.5 - 17.0 ltr p/100km ANy ideas what next, I've got it going in for a check up on Monday? meshmesh
  13. Yeh Ronin, that was mine . But what !! It was in the Showroom, Upstairs?? Dyno & tuning no probs, I don't think they'll do the mods for any joe blow. Vin is a "comparo of comparo" yeh wog talk "friend of friend" who managers Sti. It was funny, I don't think Sti & WRX owners really get see above 200kw @wheels, when Vin had it on the dyno downstairs, there must have been at least 7-8 guys & subaru staff freakin out as the chart went off the screen @265kw. One guy rang his mate & had him on speaker, his mate was freakin out. I guess numbers like that really aren't that exciting to GTR owners, was just nice to rub it up Subaru After that, some of our friends who own Sti's were upstairs, spewing coz most they got was 185~. They begged Vin for some power up advice to keep up with the GTR, which he replied with a big laugh. Looks like me & Vin convinced them to sell their cars & buy GTR's. By the way what were you doing there...?? Do drive a Subaru & not tellind us about it?
  14. did you read the thread "HKS vs Garrett" ? here's the link http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=14183 Read it, you'll learnn alot & be very suprised at the results, sometimes you'll pay more just for the name.
  15. No probs, maybe when ICE install & setup my EVC, they can pop it down to bens. It would be a good comparison to see varying result on different dynos
  16. Hi INASNT, They're stock as they come.. The car will be at ICE later this week or next. I'm getting the HKS EVC IV fitted, & need new spark plugs. Hi Merli, The dyno was done in 4WD!! "shootout mode, I think??".. not 2WD. It was done at Subaru Docklands, in Victoria. In fact it hit around 265rwkw, but that's when we dropped the boost back. Intersting my PFC Hand Controller, shows my knock levels to average around the 13mark, max I hit was 21... is this OK? Thanks meshmesh
  17. If you decide to split, I'm interested in the front lip. As Prank asked what year is it?
  18. Maybe we can make this Sticky?? Have a comparison against other GTR's with mods or in stock form. Got my car dyno'd today, after fitting the PFC & Cam Gears, here's the result & my list of mods. MODS: GTR Series 3 98model Power FC & Hand Controller Cam Gears (Settings +4 & -6) Stock Turbos (14psi ~<1bar) Turbosmart bleed valve Exhaust - stock dumps, 2.5 front pipe into 3inch, stock Cat, 3" from cat back HKS Pods (No CAI) Total 249.1kw @ ALL FOUR WHEELS Thanks to: 1. boys at ICE for help & advice 2. Merli from SAU for letting me know it's kw@all four wheels, & not rwkw.
  19. I considered that at first, however heard bd reports re: single soleniods & twin turbos.. I think I have narrowed it down to the EVC 4. PS: What's your thought about cam gear settings aof +4 & -6 degrees on stock GTR turbos running 1bar?
  20. "duuuuh, is that a skyline turbo??" Nah mate its a GTR :bonk: see the badge, the guards, the brembos, the bonnet, the front bar, the seats, the centre console, look the 2 turbos, that thing there ...yeh mate... that says RB26 :bonk:
  21. As soon as I can get some numbers <5 or more units, or within the next few weeks. I am trying to arrange this as a permenant deal for SAU, but at this stage they say they need numbers before it can be permenant.
  22. Ice Performance 7 Dissik Street, Cheltenham, Victoria, Australia, 3192. Ph: 03 9512 7591 sales@iceperformance.com.au I decide against them, basically after chatting with nigel @ ICE. If $$ is an issue, saved about $250 compared to HKS. Also heard issues about alloys being soft & longevitiy of reliabilty. And really, when I thought about it, why spend the extra for something that will do exaclty the same thing. In fact seeing the Cam Gears are genuine nissan, how wrong could I go?? They may not be as light as the HKS & others, but I'm not looking for split second qtr mile times in the 9's or 10's...
  23. Hi Bass Junky I just went through the same scenario for the GTR. I ended going through the boys at ICE performace. I thought it would be good to get my Cam gears whilst I was changing the Cam Belt. They charge $190~ change-over. Being the genuine nissan gears re-engineered to be adjustable I had no issues about being soft allow like the HKS etc... After reading through the forum & speaking to tuners, I concluded the softer alloys were not the way to go for me.
  24. Hi Steve, I asked him about your request & he said yes they can, it would be around $500. - also - They don't make them in a 0.73 AR, he thinks only 0.64, 0.84 & 1~ hope that helps
  25. Guys I have update the original post "moved to group buys" with the prices to your requests. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=30086
