  1. My mate who is a mechanic told me last night that the t28 turbo on my series 2 25t, has a steel exhaust wheel and steel shaft. Now he seems to know his stuff, but all i have read on this forum (and in other places) is that the said rb25det t28 has a ceramic exhaust wheel and falls apart with more than 12psi or so. Has anyone actually taken one of these turbos apart and can say for sure that the wheel+shaft is ceramic or not? This probably sounds stupid, but everyone like to repeat what someone else has told them, and just want to be sure.
  2. If none of that works, clean out your throttle body. If you dont have an oil catch can, you might want to get one.
  3. Just got my new exhaust fitted today (3" from dump back, no cat, 1 muffler), and my mechanic said that the pipe off the turbo was 74mm and he wasn't sure if it was factory. It was next on my mod list to get a bigger one but if the one I've got is already aftermarket, then theres no point. So, anyone know the diameter of the factory dump pipe for an rb25det? (97 SII gtst)
  4. Ok thanks guys, 2.5 inch it is. My exhaust is getting made up tomorrow so the intercooler is next on my list.
  5. Hey guys, Ive been looking at several intercooler kits for my gtst. The cheaper ones come with 2.5 inch piping but the more expensive ones come with 3. Is it really worth spending the extra few hundred and get the 3" piping? I mean i know that the larger diameter will flow better, but is it going to make a difference that will justify spending more money? Come to think about it, anyone know the throttle body diameter for an RB25det off the top of their heads?
  6. My GTS25t cost me $14,000NZD, 77k on the clock and came with full nismo suspension, i think thats just under $12,000AUD? What you aussie fellas pay for yours?
  7. Ive been told those oiled cotton filters are bad for hot wire type AFM's (like in the skyline). Ive got a Trust filter, looks like number 4. Mint induction sound too
  8. Daily driver, till i get my hands on an aw11 mr2.
  9. Would it not be cheaper to get the turbos rebuilt? Might leave room in the budget for some new oil, air filters and air box.
  10. What are your opinions on this kit? Look like theres anything wrong with it? http://www.trademe.co.nz/members/0001-0877...on-56788452.htm
  11. I remember when they removed the tarrifs here in NZ back in the day. Ford had a big closing down sale
  12. What size FMIC do you have wink? Also should the intercooler piping be 2.5 inch or 3? The intercooler kit im looking at has 2.5 inch pipe but uses silicon reducers to fit to the 3" inlet and outlet on the end tanks.
  13. Ok, ive only recently gotten myself an R33 GTS25t and im looking at modding it a bit, problem is im not too clued up on all the finer points of turbo cars. The first thing will be the 3" exhaust, but now im looking at an intercooler. Firstly, what coolers can i get that use the factory pipes? (with extensions etc), and are there FMICs avaliable that have the entry and exit on the same side? (i think ive seen them somewhere before, but might have just been a twin entry) Secondly, if i decided to get a full cooler and piping kit, what size cooler would i be looking at so i dont have to hack up much of the stock front kit? (its a facelift model). And also, for people who have done this, is there a noticable increase in lag? Any help you guys can give me would be appreciated, cooler dimensions would be a big help. Sorry if this has been covered a million times, i did try searching!
