Doesnt the 32 GTR have the factory twin blow off setup like the 33 and 34?. My advice is dont bouncve off the limiter, treat your engine good and the stockers wont give you problems. there is a 33 in my country that still runs the stock turb setup, and that dude abuses his car, they still havent let go. but a BOV will help prevent compressor surge that translates in less stress on the exh wheel.

Dude, your dedicated, when my engine was out for the complete rebuild, the only thing i did was take my rocker and coil cover to the paintshop and had them put my personal design on it, i used polished hard piping, and i had my engine block blasted and repainted with black silicone paint. had my car tot he panel beaters, painted it bright orange wich ofsets my enkei 5 spoke gunmetal rims. keep up the good work mate, ill be in australia mext year and will be staying for 5 years (my job is relocating me). ill have my GTR shipped over. Maybe you can hook me up with a super sweet setup

dude have it towed, as the ceramic dust can kill ur engine, and i dont think that you have calculated a engine build into your upgrade costs. this definitly is a blow turb, as i had the smae thing when a mate drove my car back when i bought it, nowadays nobody but me even sits in the drivers seat, be over protective, a GTR will make you bankrupt before you know it.

eeuhm, i think its better to replace the bushes, and buy a lock bar. i still use the HICAS tough. (cant find lock bars in my country). replace the bushes, get a alignment, the hassle to fix the HICAS is one of the most PITA tasks on the GTR

Well i used ACL and no problemo so far, they seem to handle the abuse, but a bearing will function only if you treat it good ie systematic oil changes, dont overheat you engine etc. but the ACL's are good.

yes the standard item is surprisingly strong, i still use them after the advice Nismoid gave me. and i ram 24psi of bost using a T04Z. and when they do go off its like a tornado blowing, quite effective little buggers.

yea im running the SARS also on a 33 GTR need to modify the loom to fit the plug. Also tought that it would be a bolt on instalation, guess i was wrong.

Lowering A R33 Gtr
Faid replied to Fanta R33GTR's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
never heard of those springs, and dont know the stock spring rates anymore, but if im not mistaking it sounds like stock spring rates. why dont you try the eibach springs, could be expensive, but in the long run id go eibach all the way, they are a proven spring. -
Tyres you use(d) and how u would rate them
Faid replied to ZigenGT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
well i use Bridgestone Potenza 275-35 R18 they have a nice compound, i like it when i warm them up by doing a 10k launch and then launching on their tracks. they are shit expensive, but they are one of the best tires around. (again, my opinion) -
How Long Do You Run Your Turbo Timer For?
Faid replied to mitchy_'s topic in Engines & Forced Induction
well i set my timer to 3 mins, i mostly use my car for my drive to work, and when i drive to work its 5am, and i have a clear freeway to push the engine to its limits. when i get at work my egt is bout 450 deg. and ive cheked it, after 3 mins of idling it drops nicley not to drop any more, so 3 min it is. does suck fuel, but hey not many people over here have them, so ya kinda get the looks when you walk from your car and it shuts off on its own :D -
R32 Gtr And Small Single Turbo (sst) Upgrade
Faid replied to Beer Baron's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
On th physics of the twin setup, there will be les rotational mass for sure, but lets say the flow measuered at the intake pipe is about 100 cfm, than the flow of each turbo given they both have the same shaft speed should be 50 cfm. they can spool earlier because of the smaal rotational mass, but youd also have to consider that they have half the exhaust flow available, for a response setup id use twins, but for outright top end HP id still use a big single to retain some response. its what your after. -
R32 Gtr And Small Single Turbo (sst) Upgrade
Faid replied to Beer Baron's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hey beer baron, i worked on a R33 S2 adn we put in a RB26, because he wanted GTR status but in RWD mode. While doing that i told him that the chance of one of the ceramic wheels from the turbs could die on him and f**k the engine up. so we bought a turbonetics T3/T4 turbo, it had a BB core etc, i was quite sruprised what we could acieve with it. the mods on that car are, cam gears, nismo 550cc injectors, PFC, Z32 AFM's, Pods, nismo fuel punp etc but we made 400-420HP on a relative safe tune. the manifold he constructed himself. but the turbonetics is on full song at about 2900-3000, so better than stock response, and i dont think it robs the car of top end because when we stuck the Gtech in it showed consistant accelaration. -
Hey tekin, i am a mechanical engineer and im doing a Phd research at the moment regarding drivetrain losses due to bearings, cv joints etc. and i have never heard of loosing so much power trough a diff or smth else for that matter, i mean heavy equipment with differentials the size of a mans length dont have that kind of loss. and i run about 450 AWKW run 10.6 with slicks and massive launches, so i dont understand why keep blating stupid info. and ps when i promote ill ask one of the mods here to have my research stickied, so there will be no further disscussion possible

well i fell in love with the GTR when a friend of mine asked if i can run his 700HP monster in for him. At the time i was a broke student, and drove a honda prelude (make 1984 and it was 2001). i thought when i get my diploma, its is the first thing ill buy. well i bought my car 4 months after i graduated and started working. blew the gearbox to bits after 3 months, and for a year i saved up to do make my now 600HP monster. but my GF doesnt like me driving my car, so we bought a ford explorer (friggin slow). and only on sunday she allows me to touch my baby.

Is $9000 what thwey quote for the PPG straight cut? i had imagined it would be like 15k. I am currently building a full drag spec engine, but i thought that a straight cut dog box would be out of the question due to the wads of cash they ask for it. I would just be using my crossmission gearbox and propbly bloow it to bits, mow i just might look into buying that gearset
-
id reccoment to pull the engine out. Have you even seen the spece you need to work in, i get nightmares just seeing where the turbs are located. But then again, if you dont have the right equipment it can be a big PITA. Even so id still say, pull out the engine and do the job poperly.
-
OS Giken cross mission gearset, or a PPG straight cut dogbox. The stock box can even last for a 1000HP, but is all a question on how you load up the gearset, do you launch big at the lights, or do some engine breakin. if you could apply load steadily, id sya it would hold a 1000HP. I broke mine with a little more than stock power ( about 350-370HP), sinc ei have built my car i have the cross mission gearset, and redline oil in it, and hast complained yet (and i abuse my car). I also run a EXEDY tripple plate clutch with full face sprung hub plates and a heavy clamp load Pressure plate.
-
what kind of radiator fan are you using, if you are using the stock item, id say that you got a case of heat soak. id look into some ducting to improove flow through the cooler and the radiator, cuz it looks like ur not getting enough flow through after installing the FMIC.

Well i buy my belts from the US. They are gates belts, they do ten to hold up very well, but if i have to rush to work 2am and i find a free highway in front of me i ten to push the car. my pulleys are all lightened pulleys. had them made in the US. and the belt tension is good i think cuz it doesnt slip, or maby its on to tightly??
-
hey guys, do you have any issues with your powersteering belts. since i built my car to spec (600HP) i have changed 4 belts and only have driven 5k km. is this an issue @10k revs, because im gettin tired of changing balts like my underware. or are there super strong belts out there that i have to try out. i have used Gates belts, as these are the only ones available for my car here. i think that the dudes that drive track can help me out, its no secret i abuse my car now and then.
-
this sounds like a starter motor. because the click you hear when you turn the switch is the start relay cliking. but then again why would the car die in mid traffic?? i mean the starter doesnt run while youre drinving. have you ignition cheked, look into your rebuilded ignition setup, maybe somthing wanst hooked up properly. When i tell people to stick to their stock type ignition systen ie the 6 coil setup, they ont tend to listen.

The 26 benefits a lot from some cam gears, as i have experienced last week. i dont know why people talk shit when they dont know a thing about what they are talkin about. And nismoid ur advice can hit hard and sarcastic at some times, but till now i have read good advice from your posts, especially when i was about to build my engine.
-
Let that piece of work try it against my GTR. but looks sexxxy. thumbs up for the toyota engineers, you finaly got out of the box and designed a deserving car.

This turbo is great. good luck with it, youll enjoy it.
