  1. Yes full rebuild, bottom end and head.
  2. Once I build my car and sell it, I will be able to afford a good sequential 6 speed.
  3. My doesn't really kick till about 4500 so if it stays the same, I'll be happy.
  4. Isnt it funny, you speak to 10 peope and you will get 10 different answers to a question. Spoke to Josh from Galvsport. Came across as a very knowledgable guy. I will be seeing him in about 2 weeks to finalise the plan of attack. He is sudgesting that for my purposes, a stroker kit is a waste of money. I will see more benefit from using better bottom end components and opening up the heads breathing capacity. Made sence when he said it. He also advised me to stya with the low mount twins. Once again, the sheer cost of the conversion and the engineering costgs to make it legal, simply outweigh any benefits. I should b e able to reach my goals from a smart low mount setup and proper engine setup to match. After giving me the idead of the cost difeerence between staying with a 2.6 and going to a stroker kit, I am thingking that I might be better of using the extra change to strengthen gtrs driveline compenents like diffs, clutch sng gearbox. Will lay out a new plan once I have had a proper chat to him. Thank you every one for your sudgestions. Ihave learnt a huge amount from you guys. If you have any further advice, I am all ears.
  5. wow.
  6. I stand corrected. Looks like this might be the turbo for me.
  7. I understand there will be lag, but there is acceptable lag and a dyno graph that looks like a cliff face. Nothing and everything for a split second.
  8. I'm no expert on turbo flow charts but it looks like it will come up just shy of my goal. Sounds like an awesome product though.
  9. Ok new plan. If it does turn out that a high mount single can be made legal, what will support 600AWHP without lag that can be marked on a calendar?
  10. I always thought that engineering reports cost a fortune
  11. So there seems to be a general agreement on diffs. thats was easy. still seems to be no agreement on turbos. what about the hks gtss or the gtrs?
  12. Since the car will be apart anyways, I will reaplce both diffs. 2 way rear and 1.5 way front? Clutch is already a twin plate will get it checked over while it lies on the floor waiting for a motor.
  13. WOW this is so much more advice then I expected. No matter what the package is, it will still be better then what I have now. Turbos are old, engine is tired and it doesnt start pulling till about 4000-4500. So some lag is not going to bother me. On the street I will rarely get a chance to use 650hp and on the track, it will rarely stay under 5000. so a bigger "laggier garrett low mounts arent going to be a problem" I am more inetersted in consitancy and reliablilty. Good cams and more displacement will oflamin mongreler lag some what also. so far: Spool 2.8l kit walbro 460lph in tank pump 260-265 by 10.8 cams 1000cc injectors GTX2860 turbos starting to look like a plan. had a chat to RIPS and Spool about 3.0L bottom ends. It may end up the way to go but for now, $ maths points towards a build rather then a crate. I am guessing that a few hard drives at desired power levels will show some new weak points in the car. my guess it will be the gear box first followed by diffs and may be the clutch.
  14. What about the gt2871?
  15. So a pair of 2860 turbos would do the job?
  16. Pardon my ignorance what is -5s, -10s?
  17. I'm happy to go to 1000cc injectors. I would rather have a little head room then come up short on fuel at full throttle.
  18. as long as it makes the required 450awkw, I'm happy to keep it under 8500.
  19. I would love to go a t51kai but have to keep it looking standard. Law here is getting very picky.
  20. I would rather go for a pair of new turbos. In my limited experience old turbos are just that, old turbos. What ever happened to the t517z and t618z turbos?
  21. Tomei have 260/10.8. One problem solved.
  22. I am happy to stay with 98ron fuel. E85 is still not that readily available in Perth. So for cams stay 10.5 lift or more but keep duration under 270. Got it. Is there an I tank pump that will give me enough flow? Has a Bosch in tank now but I know it won't cut it. Wow. Thanks for all the info. What about my choice of stroker kit? Spool ok?
  23. It seems that around that duration I will get even better mid range torque and response. As for the torbos, I was really hoping to have something that bolts on to std manifolds
  24. Good morning everyone. I am about to embark on a build to make 450awkw. The car is a 1990 gtr. The mod List so far: Power fc D-Jetro 800cc Sard Injectors Trust Drag intercooler Custom intake piping Custom Exhaust A/M Turbos (Searching by the serial number they came up as a "Le-Mans" turbo 330-350hp each) twin plate clutch Hicas Gone 350awhp The car developed a leak in the headgascket. it was still drivable but due to various family reasons, it has been garaged for about 4 years. I am now in the position to give it a lease on life and if after the build it sparks a fire under my ass, I will keep building it. if it doesn't then it should be very easy to sell once finished. the plan: 2.8L stroker (want to keep the 86.5mm bore for strength reasons and leaning towards the Spool kit.) 270ish by 10.5ish cams on both sides low mount roller bearinbg turbos cure for the oil issues via a bigger sump and if the gear box goes, an os 5 speed rebuild. The question: With so many strokers out there, is it really worth while spending the money on a top of the range kit or will a $5-$6k kit be ok for my power needs? will my 800cc injectors be up to the task? will low mount turbos (want to stay low mount for police reasons) able to deliver the flow needed for 450awkw? I tried to search some reviews or comparisons on stroker kits and it seems that in general there really isnt a bad one. As with any build, I dont really want to spend the money on a kit that is rated for 1500hp if I dont need to. Thank you in advance for all and any advice
  25. Use to be very good about 5 years ago. Still going. Not sure if it's still good. Use to have heaps of parts and would beat any price.
