Hi All I am after a Atessa controller - I had heard about one that was made here by a forum member, and I found the thread and posted my intrest / pm'd the dude, but I have recieved no response after a few days so now im looking to other sources... Im after a system which will improve the AWD characteristics of my GTR in a corner. Right now in its stock format it mostly just go's with full RWD through a corner which is quite disappointing. For launching the car and drag-racing, Atessa is brilliant, however I find it lacking in the twisties. So, what I want is a system that will either allow me to manually set how much power I want distributed to my front wheels OR (Preferably) a system like duncans which simply makes the AWD system much smarter, and also allows for some tweaking. I dont really mind which I get, I would prefer duncans system as it sounds better suited for the task, but if something else comes up first I wont mind. Thanks for your help again, this forum is full of it (help) Ian //edit whoops - can a mod please move this to the appropriate forum? //Thanks

How much to post to brisbane?

The temp of the oil doesnt really go up past 90, I got it up to 110 once with a hard, hard run over the mountains but other then that it hovers around the 90 degree mark, up and down depending on how hard im driving / conditions of the day. The car will mostly see street use with the occasional blast on the track / strip for fun, but I cant risk crashing it in track use as its my a->b car atm.

Hi all Im looking at a few basic upgrades for my GTR and I am considering an aftermarket oil cooler - I have noticed that when the oil is cooler initially when I run the car (allowing for a 2 min warmup before I drive) it runs alot smoother / more responsive and maybe a bit more powerful. Is this because of the colder oil and if so, is it worth investing in a oil cooler for a GTR? I have heard oil coolers come with their own personal deamons. What are peoples experciances? Will it help or hinder with the oil starvation problems the GTR can have (I have noticed if you break hard the oil preasure can fall if you dont imediatly stand on the throttle and take off again)? Your help is appreciated Thanks Ian

Posted on the FAQ. -
I got about half-way down the first page then stoped, but my 2c are: AFAIK in qld, there is a legal requirement for you to leave a certain amount of space between you and the next car if your driving (eg at lights, when you all stop) - the rule of thumb is generally you have to be able to see the bottom of the person in fronts rear tyres. If you dont do this, and a car slams into your ass, you *can be* responsible if your pushed into the car infront of you. But not allways. At least thats my understanding of it... me, I just leave enough room between me and the guy infront of me.

Car Theifs are on the same level as murder's and rapists. We put our heart, soul, blood and hard earned cash into these machines of joy only for some scum-bucket thinks-hes-hard f**kWIT who thinks hes above the law to come and take it, it breaks my heart. And the sad fact is, they are more or less above the law, the police are doing nothing to curtail this. Some people in this world have utterly no respect. About half a year ago a bunch of arab-imigrants (not point the finger, but the fact was, thats who they were and it didnt surprise me to see that) tried to car jack me in my last car. I got away from them luckily enough but the cops didnt do $hit. They never do. To them, fast cars are objects of state revenue, if one gets stolen and actually requires police work, well, is there any money in it for them? No? Not worth worrying about. /rant over. That being said, 7k in sound gear and nothing in insurance? Insurance for my GTR was 3k, and I still paid it.... Your lucky you got the car back at all however. The fact that they crashed it and then nicked the sound gear sounds more to me like they were amatures who got lucky rather then expercianced criminal scum, I would of thought if they knew what they were on about the car would be in syd / melb getting rebirthed now. /rant over again. -
Bass Junky R32GTR R32 TT ShadowGTR IanB Im in. Contact me for payment details ASAP please. I was so disappointed in the GTR AWD system when I took it for a hard run over the mountains, not enough FWD at all. From what I understand, this system doesnt lock it into say a 70/30 split or a 5050 split, it meerly makes the stock system work better, eg, when you corner, it puts more power to the front wheels, what you control is how much more, correct?
-
Hmm yes, I do know the maximum split is 50/50, what prompted me to ask about the full time thing is I have a RWD switch in my car, if I do turn it to RWD only, the steering in the front becomes a bit stiffer. Having come from a turbo FWD car, I think its because theres no power whatsoever on the front wheels, hence making the steering a bit less responsive. What im more after is how to make the car more FWD-favourable to improve handling.
-
Okay, so this thread has two purposes. First, I want to establish firmly the differences in peoples experciances and on paper between the 3. AFAIK R33/R34 has the same but R32 is different? Secondly, I want to know just how much it really does for handling. Driving a R32 GTR myself, I have found that in most corner situations, it rarly puts any power on the front wheels whatsoever. Is it a constant system, even if massivly RWD bias (EG a constant 5% on the fronts at all times + whatever the computer decides to put on)? I have noticed that when I have the car up on a hoist, if I spin one of the front wheels all 4 wheels spin, whereas if I spin the rear wheels, only the rear two spin. Also, what can be done to change this? I have heard of attessa controllers, where can I find more info on them? I know this sounds like im trying to get spoonfed, but I searched this forum for quite some time before I posted this. Thanks Ian //edit oh dear... I appear to have posted this in the wrong section... Mods, please move it? Thanks:)

Found the fault. When they were running the wires for the alarm, they actually snapped off the little tit bit that the vacuum line connects to on the stock sender. I have had a chat to them about it and they have agreed to replace the sender for free. Next issue is the door sensor for the drivers side door does not work. When you open or close the door the light doesn’t work, never has done, I tried today swapping the sensors around last night and had more or less the same error, the sensor that came off the drivers side door did work but it was blinky when put on the passenger side, however when putting the working passenger side sensor on the drivers side it still did not work. I do not believe replacing the sensor will fix the problem. Any ideas?

Hi A few questions - After having my car alarm installed, I have noticed that my stock boost gauge does not work anymore. Additionally, while I now have keyless entry, I have noticed that the centeral locking only works from one side, the drivers side - locking the passanger door will not lock the drivers door. Is this normal? Also, with the stock boost gauge not working (in actual fact, it works, but doesnt seem to get a signal, its stuck on 0PSI but the car is most definatly boosting) does this mean the ECU has NFI what boost is being put into the engine? Thanks for your help. Ian

Will this fit a R32 GTR?
-
Nukes and Desal. Real easy. Put the nukes ontop of ayrs rock or some other remote place where noones going to really care.... Power can be transported easily enough.
-
yeah im thinking it was just overfueling on the ECU's behalf, the engine sounds, boosts and runs smooth as a babies bottom. Still, as has been said, one can never be too careful. That being said, I just had a major service less then a week ago and GT Auto has a good rep (they mostly deal with high preformance imports, there were 6 - 8 other skylines in their yard when I got there and another one on the dyno being tuned along with some stageias and a XR6T) and I doubt theyd miss something so critical as oil preassure, however I will certainly ask them what they did to make sure that it was a-ok. And yeah cubes, it was in the rear vission mirror with headlights behind me, looked like a smoky tailwind - prehaps the GTR was just ripping up the dust on the road?

Driving the car around tonight it was alot better, it sat more or less on the 4 (halfway) mark everywhere I went so I decided to give it some stick, I did notice on WOT it was blowing a fair bit of smoke, but this was only in the higher RPM range (6.5k +) and none at all in just normal driving... I will take the FMIC pipe off tomorrow and see if theres any oil in there. Should I take it off at the engine side or on the intake side of the intercooler? Additionally, will there be any oil leaking under the car anywhere if it is a turbo seal? I have put a sheet down under the car tonight to check for drops. oil seals can be bloody expensive, after buying the car 2 weeks ago I have allready spent alot on it in just maintaince (1.5k so far) so im really hoping its just me being a worrysome grandmother. The car was much better tonight driving it around in all conditions, under heavy and light load and at idle the oil preassures were comperable to my mates R33 GTST. A bit of smoke is normal for a turbo car on WOT in high RPM is it not? Or is that just wishful thinking on my behalf? //edit on closer inspection of the manual there it says at idle there should be 1.5 kg per cm squared, 3 at 2000 RPM and 4.6 at 6000 RPM which, if it translates directly to what the gauge reads (eg 1:1) then thats exactly what my car is doing.
-
More info: On cold-start oil preassure is fine - it doesnt really dip down low until the oil gets hot - even then its only low during idle, sits just bellow the 2 mark on the gauge. Once you get going again it comes back up to anywhere between 1/3rd or 2/3rd's. Will have it checked on monday however

Im using motul 4100 Is there anything I should be looking out for in particular to indicate that the engine is not getting enough oil? in my last car tappit noises were a sure sign of this. //edit just reading a another thread about an extra litre of oil... would this be a good idea as a stop-gap until I can get it tested?
-
Hi everyone, Just a few questions about oil preassure: I have a R32 GTR and when im driving along the oil preassure sometimes sits bellow the quater mark when not under heavy load - is this a problem? It generally only happens when im just granny-driving the car about and a good free-rev will generally increase the oil preassure - when giving it a bit more stick (still keeping to within the legal limits of the road of course) the oil preassure usually jumps up a fair bit, between just above the quater mark or just above the half mark, however I have seen it go higher. if giving it decent stick it will normally stick on the 4 (halfway) mark. What does this all mean and is it bad? The car just got back from a major service at GT auto and they didnt say anything about it. Am I just being an old worrysome grandmother? Thanks Ian
