  1. Alex, do you still have the standard ECU? If so, you should have taken a laptop and dumped what everything was doing over the 1/4.. If you go again give me a yell, as I can lend you a laptop and cable (and my software is just about done.. :-) Ian
  2. Yep, and it has to be a car that the turbo boost is coming out of the consult port..
  3. Do you already have a consult cable?
  4. - do you want me to take a wheel off and check (I've heard it's normally written on the inside of the rim)?
  5. hmm, you should still be able to tell - if you can't what is the point of having one! I haven't been on a dirt rd in my stagea yet (it does have the lsd as it is a four S), so can't comment from experience.. Ian
  6. Yep. Wifes out in it at the moment, but according to the compliance papers - Rim size and profile: 7.5 JJ 17 Rim Offset: +40mm Wheel track front 1450mm Wheel track rear 1515mm Wheel Center to top of wheel arch - Front Unladen 400mm, Full bump: 310mm Rear: 380mm, 300mm - and I have 225/50 tires on (obviously on all 4 wheels!). Works fine :-) That's for a 2001 S2 four S. :-) I can pull a wheel off and check what is says on the inside next weekend if you want. Edit: Wife home, but the label on the side of the door doesn't say (just gives the tire size and preasure). So I'd have to pull a wheel off and see if it was actually the same as stated in the compliance papers.. Ian
  7. get it on a loose dirt road and you'll be able to tell pretty fast.. :-) Ian
  8. I suspect you haven't done long (ie 1000K+) driving on a hot sunny day (ie high 30's+). Black can get a lot hotter, certainly past the point of the AC being able to handle it... Ian
  9. You should actually describe it as a "1998 Series 2 Stagea" - as disticnt from just a 1998 one (which could be a series 1). :-) Ian
  10. speaking as someone who had a black car a few years ago - they look a lot better than they actually are! You FRY in the aussie sun.... Ian
  11. Never been over 180 in a car! Surely not! That's still in third gear! Though the advantage I have is that I've spent a lot of time in countries with different speed (ie revenue) restrictions than Aus, plus cars are cheaper too... Not in Aus, but I've turned the cruise control on at 220kmh and sat back and relaxed as I hummed down the highway! Also been over 300kmh a few times, but never managed to get it over 305kmh (car should have been able to do 320, but I'd put too much fuel in it so it was a bit heavy :-(...) :-) Anyway, back on topic, yes the stageas all have the speed limiter unless there has been a remap/daughterboard or change of ECU. You shouldn't be able to get it much faster than 190. Ian
  12. I know a few people who have used 'MyTrading' and none of them have had a problem, so you probably should add them to the list you are considering. Ian
  13. Nah, most people would see the tow bar as a positive! Towing just about anything isn't going to put a strain on a stagea, and they often just get used for push bikes, so there really isn't a downside in having one. But price seems a little low for those km's in a manual, so be carefull and really check it out! Ian
  14. Most of the consult software out there is crap, written in VB by amateurs.. Mine will be out in a month or so (pm me your real email address and I'll send you a copy to test if you'd like) and includes everything you can get out of the port, not to mention real time graphing and 'replay' ability etc.. Written all in C++ The only reason I've written it is that I've seen how bad the ones out there are... And I guarantee the turbo boost IS coming out of my R34 consult port, as I have had it up on my screen many times while I've been testing my software! Ian
  15. Yep, dropped in with a very dirty bayside blue S2, and was surprised people were interested in it :-) - though I did not enter the competition (and next time I'll give it a wash, and I still haven't fixed the broken mirror). Would have taken the R34 around except the wife was in it... :-) (plug, the R34 is for sale, http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=98570, as we really don't need two cars! :-) But no, I haven't joined the vic SAU, every time I go to do it I get too confused by the forms.... Ian
  16. It certainly doesn't go to the gauge in my R34 skyline (or S2 stagea) as the ECU knows the boost (which is why it comes up on my laptop as well as the central gauge..) and goes to the gauge in a wire :-) Ian
  17. About two thirds of the consult stuff has been identified, I'm working on the rest at the moment... Given the dash in my R34 has oil temp and preasure, and it electrically gets these from the CPU, they must be there somewhere! Looks good - but it lacks the really interesting car data as it doesn't talk to the ECU... Mines going to be much better .. :-)
  18. You should be able to do a 260rs cheaper than that - I saw several when I bought my 4S, and they were more in the 1.8m to 2.2m range. The main reasons I didn't buy one were 1) I wanted a bit newer car 2) they are based on the R33 GTR engine, and the R34 NEO engine (in my series 2) is noticably more fuel efficient (remember, I do long distances in the car..) 3) I didn't need the extra power in the family station wagon (NEO engine again, noticably better than the series 1 engine..). 4) I'm probably going to get a R34 GTR in a couple of years anyway. Ian
  19. There is a big post about this in the forum a few months ago... Ian
  20. 1) you could buy mine and convert it to manual for that:) http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=98570 Though you might not want to convert it once you have tried the M-AT box. Yes. I never get down to 16l/100km, even with stop start driving around town. Out on the highway, sticking to the speed limit with Cruise control on, I get 10l/100km. Major difference in stiffness and engine... Read my add and follow the link to Nissans press release. Ian
  21. Hmm, it appears nobody is interested in upgrading to a r34! I'll put it on drive.com.au next, but I've changed the price to 'Or Nearest Offer' - so let me know if you are interested. Not too fussed, I can always tell the wife it wouldn't sell, and will keep it..
  22. Nah, unless you've modified it and pushed it hard, you won't need to rebuild the engine at 200,000 km's.... Straight km's (as long as you have been changing your oil etc etc when you should have!) take a looonnnngg time to crap out a car. I did 340,000 km's in my first car, and only updated cause somebody ran into the back of me while I was stopped at traffic lights... And someone I know has clocked over 500,000 in their R30 skyline - apart from changing the fuel injectors 100,000 kms ago, and the shock abosrbers a bit before that, has only done the normal service items (including belts and hoses etc)... Your shock absorbers will need to be replace well before you need to touch the engine...
  23. I wouldn't be spending 3*$150 on those - just get a laptop and plug into the consult port, and mount the display! :-) The software the Melbourne stagea guys saw me using is almost ready for public consumption, and I'll probably GIVE it to any Melbourne stagea owner :-)
  24. Me too - more pics! :-) Tee, the good news is (for me) the back of your car looks the same as mine (they are both series 2 four s, but mine was after the 2000 update, so it might have been different...). ie http://www.r34skyline.com/wagon/IMG_5777.jpg http://www.r34skyline.com/wagon/IMG_5778.jpg http://www.r34skyline.com/wagon/IMG_5779.jpg You agree? (I haven't imbedded them due to the size). And no, they aren't scratches, the car is just covered in light colored dirt (we were on a dirt rd on sunday..) So I suspect I'll be driving up to canberra to get one.. Have to go to Sydney anyway, so I'll do it on the way... But put a few clearer pics up first! Ian
  25. I agree entirely, either way (ie low or high km's..)
