  1. the dude fixed it in 15 seconds. f'ing very good guy. #1, the turbo we changed was boosting (or trying to at least) at 22psi, #2, the afm was dodge so i replaced with the another standard one, #3, the loom that sat in the afm was pretty shockingly crusty, so we changed that and he crimped it into place, #4, the bov i had on the car was pushing a lot of what was in the pipes out, so the sensors got crappy readings and made it try and cut out, just little bits and pieces. the dude did a massively good job, anybody in melb who wants serious work done to their car should go there. i hope some of these steps help u in ur problem cuz. good luck.
  2. I have no idea bro, sorry. Man, I'm sending the car to a dude in Melbourne that comes highly recommended. Supposed to go today but had a wedding I sorta forgot I had to go to. I'll go to him early on Monday. If he tells me the cars problem, I'll pass that on to you, or if you're in Melb. tell me and I'll give u his details.
  3. bought a new car. skylines now on the to do list.
  4. is it worth replacing? exactly as u say it does..
  5. hows a car going to behave if the fuel pump unit is stuffed? stalling? cutting out? running lean.. i don't know. they're my guesses but not sure.
  6. this brother from another mother.. been with the problem since the start of this pain the rear end hole! its been raining in melbourne. when the spark plugs were changed over, i didnt replace the cover so i dont want to do too much work and, i dont think anyone'll be able to see whats coming out of my exhaust.
  7. how long was a while.. what did the final problem turn out to be?
  8. the problem has now blossomed into a rite pain in the ass. just driving regularly on the freeway (no boost, 5th gear, around 3k rmp) and i noticed that no matter how hard i nudged the accelerator, it wouldn't give me more revs. it tried to cut out on the freeway while it was moving at about 100kms/h. fuel pump?
  9. so there are aftermarket ones u can buy? whats the deal? hows it all go?
  10. ok. when i opened the cover to expose those things that sit above the spark plugs, were they the coil packs? are they what need replacing? do you use second hand ones? are there aftermarket ones? whats the procedure?
  11. cars spark plugs have been replaced with BCPR6ES plugs and problems persist.. any more suggestions?
  12. i've got a set of those trojan allan keys that come on a loop which u cant seperate. at the end of those keys, there's the inset and the key is a ball (if u know wot i mean) so u can work on an angel with the bolt ur trying to tighten or loosen. that snapped off onto the one of the bolts holding the cover for the coils and sparks. as soon as i find a way to get that out and unbolt it all, i'll take ur advice and hopefully it all works out. again, thanks for the help buddy.
  13. hey mate, no cars not hard to start in the mornings. not other then the starter motors grinding noise. nothing mechanical other then that.
  14. yes, standard turbo and standard boost. do BCPR6ES sparks come 0.8 off the shelf or do they need adjusting? fair enough the sparks might fix the issue with stalling at lights, but will it also deal with the car shuddering and cutting out while spooling? thanks for ur help buddy, truly appreciate it.
  15. Hi guys, my rb25det has just had a turbo reinstalled into it after the last one blew. In the month coming up to the turbo install, the car stalled when I pulled up to lights to stop, then i learned if I pulled the car out of gear early and let it roll to get air moving through it as I was approaching the lights, it would stall much less. Then the turbo went in. I now have a new problem. While spooling, although at around 4k rpm, it sounds like im backfiring and even worse, it begins to cut out only for one second then goes on spooling. If im already at about 5 - 7k rpm then give it the beans, it doesn't cut out or give me probs at all. I replaced the afm and the afm loom because it was cracked and worn and put a pod on too, thinking i wasnt getting enough air. FYI - starter motor is on its way out in a major way. Im thinking either starter motor, coil packs or sparks. anything further im missing?
  16. hey people. does anybody have a rb25det with standard cooler pipes that could take a picture of the engine bay focusing on the vacuum hoses around the airbox/pod filter so i can copy after i muddled them while replacing a turbo? would appreciate LOTS!
  17. yup, i get ya. thanx.. i'v tried the rim on the car as a matter of fact, the thing is, i didnt move the rim about on the studs at all. it had a fair bit of clearnace, and i was hoping i could get an answer, but obviously not.. thanx for the input bud. -G
  18. hey guys, just wondering if someone could tell me if a set of 19 x 8.5 would go on a standard 33 gts-t thats not dropped at all without rubbing or hitting the calipers. i was talking about this topic with a friend, he has a set of 17 x 9 and he has guard rubbing when he full locks the steering. its not noticable when just driving in a straight line or if hes not full lock on the streering. he's cars been lowered 2.5", so just doing the math.. i assume, the 19" would fit my car? putting the rims on the car at the moment isn't a posibility either.. any input would help heaps!! -G
  19. That's a very good idea. Aftermarket intakes ususally do that to the engine. You'll hear the flutter with a bigger aftermarket intake on the car. Try removing it and putting the standard box back on and see if theres a difference in noise or perfomance. Performance depends on how big the bracket you installed the intake on it is, if its small, you'll be restriciting the available air and you'll find the cars running lean. If it's all good in that department, then its it's normal or hear flutter when the throtle body closes and you have a stock BOV and an aftermarket intake on.
  20. thanks for the input peoples. much help! just one more question. if i do get a new pipe n cover where the BOV is sposed to be, n get the flutter, will it have serious implications on the turbo (running the stock one)? how serious?
  21. Wanting to put in an intercooler on a RB25DET. Does anyone have any advice? 1) are the r33 gtr and gts-t intercoolers directly interchangable without changing the mounts or piping? 2) is it posible for the RB25DET to make that crazy noise the RB20s in the VLs make? If so, what needs to be done to the engine for it to do this? Any other general comments are appreciated. -Enyoy
