  1. oh ok, cool. Well does any one know if r33 and r32 gts4 auto gearboxes are the same?
  2. ahhhhh anyone have an answer on these? I need to get them sold asap. Another question whilst I'm at it, I don't know much about gearboxes (as you could tell), but there are square nuts on one side of the auto gearboxes, are they adjustment of shifting or something? Just curious as I have a nitro offroad monster truck <----- (display pic) and it has adjustabilty of shifting at certain rpms.
  3. they look the same, so yeah. So that means they are both r32 gts4 auto gearboxes then? or is the same box used in a variety of skylines?
  4. I'm pretty sure its a rectangular sump, I've looked at the photos and it seems to be right, where would the bit thats sticking out be? Also I forgot to mention that the second gearbox was actually listed as a r33 4wd gearbox, but so was the engine, and clearly the engine hasn't come out of a r33 since gts4's weren't turbos. Thats why I'm being a bit sceptical about whether they've gotten these 2 gearboxes right. I also have 3 other gearboxes, I'm just wanting to know whether they are turbo or not, all they seem to say is ca18, sr20 and s14 sr20. I'll get the pics up later on. From what you can see, are the gearboxes identical? ~Danz
  5. Hey guys, I'm wanting to sell a few of my gearboxes but I need to figure out first what they actually are and what engine they've come from. I have this stuff from a import wreckers that have now shut down due to wanting to retire and they didn't leave too much desciption on the boxes. I bought a rb25det GTS4 engine which I soon learnt could only be from a stagea and the wreckers assured me that one of these gearboxes was fitted with it. The label on one of the gearboxes says r32 4wd: You can see from the last picture the two gearboxes next to each other, the one in the middle is said to be the r32 4wd one. Here is the other gearbox: It may even be that the stagea gearbox is the same as a r32 gt4 gearbox, I'm not sure, I just want to make sure I'll be selling the right gearbox. Hope someone can give me a hand with this as it is taking up room and I need them gone, it was already a pain in the ass to get them down with the forklift and sort them for photos so hopefully I don't need to take any more. Cheers ~Danz
  6. That was taken from this thread: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=165558 ~Danz
  7. ah I c, thank you very much mate , found the information I was looking for
  8. 4 door section? wheres that?
  9. ok just went outside to take a pic: and this is a 2dr is it cause the 4dr is sticking further into the chassis?
  10. hmmmm ok, I can't really see the difference, probably cause the photo is too small: yeah I just checked on my bro's car, looks the same . Ok, so the headlights are the same size otherwise, cool.... I've got a front bumper, not sure what series its from, I guess it doesnt really matter thought does it? ~Danz
  11. My brother is wanting to purchase a bodykit for his 4dr skyline, its a series 1, I wondering if there is any difference between the 4dr rear bars and the 2dr rear bars? Apparently they are different, how? Ummm not sure if this has been covered, did a quick search and couldnt find anything. Series 1 and 2 front bars are interchangable right? or do the lights and grill etc need to be changed in order to do it? Are Series 1 and 2 lights the same? series 1 looks more dull whereas the series 2 looks like it has chromey plastic stuff on the inside which makes it more shinny ~Danz
  12. Yeah it would be an awesome car, I saw a gtr cross member on ebay just as I was thinkin of doing it, only like 150 bucks or something.... though your probably better off getting a whole frontcut off a gtr, it'll be pricey though. No offence taken Its cool I know I'm still a n00b when it comes to terminology and stuff with cars, I'm trying to get my head around it all so I'm used to pplz getting pissed off at me when I don't understand something. I just wish ppl would be more forgiving and willing to teach rather than bag thats all. I was told that the Attesa system is spossed to only be used for about 15 seconds, otherwise the clutch burns out or something, my guess is that for racing use they must use aftermarket sumps or something. If you check out the link I gave you, it'll firstly show that im a noob, but itll also list all of the obvious things you'll need to change such as.... cross member, suspension conversion, cut out of transmission tunnel, changing of rear diff? - (unless you can fit the r200 shortnose senders to the r200 longnose), and rear diff ratio
  13. I'm one of those 13 year old kids you were mentioning (though im actually 17).... anyway I bought a rb25det gts4 engine from an auction (stagea engine) and then it hit me that I can't even use the engine cause of the new laws that will come in place (no turbos). But the 4wd system inspired me and I wanted to see what was involved, here is a link to the thread about it at the r31skylineclub: http://forum.r31skylineclub.com/index.php/topic,79062.0.html Hope this helps a bit, I didn't press any further on how to do it, otherwise the club would have cracked the shits with me since I clearly dont have the funds to undergo the project. Where abouts are you located? If your serious about doing it, I have a a stagea engine (no turbo, starter motor or crank angle sensor), and 2 x Auto 4wd gearboxes up for grabs if you need them. And if I could help out in any way I'd like to be apart of it . If you are going to make it a drag car, the Auto's might be what you are after anywayz.... ~Danz
  14. hey guys what do I do on the gearboxes, should I post it elsewere? can someone give me some links to Pics of the different gearboxes or something? I can get information on them, cept they are on a palete packed away so I don't want to get them down then find out no one has the answers im after.
  15. everything helps, cheers If I get some pics, would someone be able to identify the gearboxes? What kind of pics do I need to take? or is there some pics already taken that i can get reference off? Thanks for everyones input ~Danz
  16. hmmmm ok, I'll have to do some research on it. Incase one of them is a stagea box, your not after getting an auto are ya?
  17. Ah yeah, sorry rb20det on the r32 gts4 and rb25de on the r33 gts4. Are you saying the reason they didn't come with a turbo is cause it was too close to the performance of a GTR? Interesting.... The valley cover, ok now I know what its called lol. So the mounting bolts are in different locations are they? Oh well. Whats this PCV your talking about? - still a n00b And running a turbo engine N/A will be really sluggish... that means I'll have to sell it, it isnt worth changing the internals just to put it in my car is it? So your saying that the rb25det in a stagea is different than in a rb25det gts r33 skyline? (mounting) Is the front diff (4wd sump) also different than r32 gts4's then? or are they all the same (including GTR)?
  18. ok thanks guys I never knew gtr's where all manual, alright sweet learn something new everyday. So the GTS4 Auto obviously wouldnt be as strong, cause I have a r32 and stagea one afaik and the r32 would be a non turbo since r32 gts4's only came with rb20de's too. Is there a way to find out what the gearboxes are from? coding somewhere or a pic mabye? I've come down to the decision to ethier keep the engine for myself and change the sump, or I'll sell it and put in a N/A engine. I picked up this engine pretty cheap though, and I'd rather utilize it if possible. I want to stay out of trouble with my engine so I was thinking since the car comes with a rb20det (red top) mabye I should just get a rb20de (which I already have) and use that cause then the compliance plate will say rb20det and I can say I just took the turbo off or won't a rb25de be a issue with the cops anyway? I also had the idea of sticking the coil cover from the rb20 on the rb25 so it says 2000 instead of 2500. I was told that you could run a turbo engine as a N/A engine, cept you would just loose a bit of performance, how much performance approx?
  19. It was 8:30, I thought everyone would have come home from work and jumped on the forum.... my bad.
  20. no one gonna answer me cause im a n00b? I have used the search button, incase you were about to accuse me
  21. Gday, I was wondering what a rb25det Stagea 4wd engine is worth these days? I picked one up hoping to make my future Hr31 Passage a 4wd, cept then I found out whats required to do the conversion . It doesnt have a crank angle sensor, starter motor, or turbo but comes with an automatic ECU. I also have 2 automatic gearboxes for it aswell, I was told that they are almost as strong as gtr gearboxes? What are they worth? and are they interchangeable with gtr engines? One of the gearboxes came from a r32 gts4 and the other from (apparently) a r33 gts4. Cept I think the second one was actually from the same car, a stagea. They listed the engine as a r33 gts4 rb25det so I'm guessing they made the same mistake with the gearbox. - are both gearboxes the same? (considering that the r33 one is actually a stagea box) Will pics help? I have some ready to post if it'll help.
