  1. You need this link http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Regist...egistration.htm
  2. Anyone know the name of this one? I need a drivers side headlight assembly.
  3. Brake's will be sorted when they come up for the next major service (My rotor's are on their last reface), probably going for a set of DBA4000's (Slotted, not drilled) all around and decent pads. Its got good pads on it now, and I don't run crap tyre's (Dunlop SportMaxx atm, but probably go Goodyear Eagle GSD3's next time). Suspension? Its had the SK Whiteline Bushkit right through it, but I'll do the shocks, springs and sway bars at the same time - as mentioned in the first post.
  4. The comfort side of performance. I don't lower my car's - speed humps exist and you have to deal with them Everything I've ever read has said that Jap Coilovers are built for roads that aren't in Australia - you know those smooth and maintained ones I used to be in Canberra (now Melb) and every other month someone was selling their Tein's or what have you to pay for their chiropractor.
  5. So a shopping list consisting of or thereabouts would do wonders? I notice the A/R on the HKS kit is lower compared to Paul's recommendation... I assume I'll need some alternate manifolds, or are the 2835's a straight swap?
  6. In what respect? Is there nothing to be gained (particularly mid-range) or is it a marginal upgrade in terms of final power figures?
  7. I have the Exedy HD one... more than that? Also, the tune is certainly part of it.
  8. So I have a Skyline and its not feeling quite as perky as she used to. I'm thinking about pouring about 10k into it. In that 10k is 1k of Stereo and 2k of Suspension (SK's Springs, Bilsteins, Sway bars) . Leaving about 7k on gofast bits/install/tune. Current mods are as follows... FMIC PFC AVC-R Bosch 040 3inch turbo-back exhaust. I've sorta decided I want a new turbo - as the people who are going to do the work tend to think that its a lot more reliable at getting good figures (he felt that whilst sometimes you get good results out of hi-flows, othertimes not so as much as he'd expect) - also, the engine has 110k on it, which means that poor stock turbo has been huffing a bit more boost than it should have for at least 35k of those. Restrictions? * Stock-Airbox (although I am quite keen on getting a CAI box setup of some description...), I really don't want a pod and If it can stay in the Stock-Airbox, all the better. * Staying internally gated What I want? Currently (before I took the Pod off) I was getting ~200rwkw at 15psi. I want more (duh), but It also has to be on the responsive side of power. I don't want something that doesn't start because its too cold, is unbearable off-boost etc. My missus drives this to work 5 days a week, and I do the long trips/weekends . I am sorta keen on a set of Cam's to go with the mods (injector's, turbo+bits to make it fit, Z32, CAI mod) as the old V8 guy in me thinks it will aid in making sure things are a bit more responsive - am I right in this belief? I've had a poke around and people seem to be making ~270-300 rwkw with this kind of setup, with graph's that look quite sporty between 4200-6700 rpm.
  9. Many, many cars are bought with a pod and FMIC fitted already - I didn't have a choice. And how does having a Pod or FMIC have anything to do with driving style?
  10. I don't mind that. I can handle the "random" breathe tests that you seem to get in other states (ACT and NSW). It just feels to me that the EPA ruling is the final say in "got the bastard" when all else fails. It's also interesting that as he ranted on (I wasn't arguing, more actually trying to find out why he pulled me over - he dodged the question about 3 times.) he claims its a federal law and he didn't care that; a) I have my car engineered for all mods other than the PFC. b) I'm "technically" based in Canberra for the moment. If you have modifications within the boundaries, do you still have to show up to McLeod? Do they ask you to attend regardless? Pod and FMIC together. He didn't mention specifically what test I was going for, but Nismoid feels that its more than likely a Full test. I'm trying to source a stock ECU and airbox now before the letter. Hence I'm curious about how I go about having a car that is a joy to drive long distance, handles well, has a bit of poke when required? My current thinking is a R33 GTR but if I'm still going to go back and forth between a police car, mechanic and EPA because apparently they kill baby foxes, turn seals into salsa and burn down trees faster than napalm - I won't bother, sell it and buy something that legally destroys the planet.
  11. I sort of touched on this in the EPA thread, however I guess its better here as it sorta warrants a bit of discussion. How often are people getting done? I got done Saturday morning with zero additional tickets (no speeding, failure to indicate etc). What really irked me is that the copper targetted me (moved 3 lanes over and about 4 cars back to get me), then had basically cared about nothing other than me popping my bonnet and having him say "the EPA will send you a letter". Nothing about my driving, noise or anything. Is this as common as I fear (3-9 months)? I have been planning to get my car sorted for VIC Rego (and that includes ditching the pod for a stock air box + decent filter) but i'm not overly excited about the idea of banging on a stock exhaust, ECU and removing the EBC every so often as; 1. I don't have the tools to do it here. 2. I don't have tons of time outside of work (I actually P/T to work whilst the missus drives). How do people go about living with this kind of thing here? My car isn't overly powerful (when it was tuned 18+ months ago it made ~190 RWKW), wheel etc are all engineered - but i don't exactly want to lose the power I have. My financial situation could finance a stock R33 GTR with a "handful' of mods (I'm thinking a Quiet well-flowing exhaust and possibly a chip) early next year - but really what are the options for a skyline with around 200rwkw (or equivalent) without the retarded hassle that you get from having the dreaded stove lights. I can handle the "random" breathalyser tests and the like. I just can't afford the time to be back and forth to the pits and mechanic just because a police officer has a vendetta against Japanese imports.
  12. Yeah so I got a "random" EPA fine - long story but basically he crossed 3 lanes of traffic and moved up about 6 cars to get me, no I wasn't doing anything wrong either. Not Happy Jan. I was asked to pop the hood, he noted the pod and intercooler then mentioned that the EPA would send me a letter. Is it likely that it will be a full emissions test? or just the exhaust (i'm confident I'd pass the exhaust). But I have a secondary question - I don't have the time, tools nor stock parts (I have an ECU, EBC, Pod, FMIC and Exhaust) to continually pass this kind of thing. If I was to buy a Stock R33 GTR, Do the Exhaust, FMIC (Use a K&N Filter rather than pods) and possibly the ECU thing (altho keeping the stock ECU for "times of need") would I pass by default assuming the exhaust was of "legal volume". If not, what *could* i do to a GTR and pass consistently (thus not having to f**k about with mechanics etc)?
  13. Cost me $400 for my certificate. It covered more than just the wheels, was done in 2 days and now no-one can defect me on the spot. Size doesn't matter (cost wise), unless you need work done to make the wheels safe.
  14. Get them engineered - Seriously. Its f**k all cost for Wheels and the amount of hassle it will save you every time a copper wakes up on the wrong side of bed is worth it. Wheels are the easiest thing to defect for. So incredibly visible.
  15. wow... So like if you went and did the SK thing, you'd shit your pants right? All skylines have the basis of good handling, all it needs to be done is maintained and not put logs on for tyres
