  4. Totally agree with Blaise re the nut behind the wheel being the limiting factor for a great result. Scotty and I were newbies at this caper and may i suggest to anyone who thinks that tarmac rallies are just a drive in the country wound up a little, forget it. Our car was faultless throughout and I think the preparation of the car was A1, however, we finished 43rd in class which more relates to lack of talent / balls, age and mindset ( want to drive home with a whole car not an accordion) Respect to all those that finished and especially those up the pointy end.
  5. Car was fully compliant with regard to low volume manufacturer regs in 2002
  6. Vicroad will not give a Rally plate to 'dodgey illegal car for the streets', has to have provenance.
  7. My car is fully Australian compliant, was Taswegian reg, however the chap I purchased the car from wanted to send the plates in? so no way registering VICROADS therefore Rally reg the only way to go ( probably safest with regard to very occasionally driving on road (always to the mechanic, mind) and hopefully not attracting attention with the boys in blue as they will see Rally Plate and it will register to them as a rally car not a caged performance car for the streets.
  8. Seems about right compared to my car '93 GTR full targa spec around same money sold late last year
  9. Yes, Steve Glenney is one of the instructors, spoke to Mick who is running the show and it sounds good. I think I'll be doing it. Here is link for outline of the day http://www.rexnet.com.au/forum/index.php?/...a-training-day/
  10. Anyone had experience with this group? http://www.rallyschool.com.au/?page=site/news Running tarmac rally school for driver/ nav on the 16/9, only came across last night.

  12. Looking great! Thanks for the advice after Jack raped my old car at PI
  13. Vettel was choking back (tears?) at the post race interview with Webber and Alonso both turning towards him expecting him to blubber. I actually thought Vettel was following team orders by holding back the pack so Webber could run off into the distance, take his stop, then come out behind Vettel for a 1 - 2. In my eyes this would have been a PR win / win for all concerned. Pity the stewards did not agree. Vettel keeps talking about the team, however this is code for 'me'.
  14. Hey all, Have received confirmation of entry to Targa High Country, so exciting! Who else? Now the fun really begins.
  15. Charlie Battisti panels in Nunawading (they do all of BMW Australia repairs and have BMW loan/hire cars)
  16. Hey Nick, I am pretty sure you saw my R32 when I had it for sale. That car was in full Targa spec when i bought it in SA and had full reg. I attempted to register the car in Vic at Archie Robertson's and received 2 A4 pages of things to do. Needless to say I left it in SA reg. One critical area regarding design of your cage, and please check this out, is a percentage of clear opening for ingress/egress. From memory it is something around 76%. With my current car I have it rally reg'd, fairly simple process involving CAMS National rally license, scrutineering checkover, submission to CAMS assessment board, then Vic roads visit for hand over of plates (allow around month and a half for the wheels to turn). Hope this helps and good luck
