  1. Check the idle control valve, or whatever its called, on the back of the plenum. Pull it off and hit it with carby cleaner. They tend to clog up a bit and cause a fluctuating idle. That economy is pretty bad, I get min 400kms per tank local driving with filter, exhaust, intercooler, boost controller and i don't really drive slow. Up to 530km on longer distance driving. This is generally taking 53-55L when i fill it up. RB20T aswell.
  2. Removing and replacing a spring and shock as a unit is piss easy. Did all 4 corners today in 2.5hrs including a lunch break. Ifyou need to separate the springs from the shocks you will need a pair of spring compressors. Then the hardest thing is removing the nut at the top of the shocker. A word of warning: Dont remove the top of the assembly without compressing the spring first. You can get hurt pretty bad when the top goes flying into your jaw. Also, you'll never get the thing together without the compressors Hope this helps some Dave
  3. Not to worry, found a nice set of Tien NR springs and dampers today and decided to get em. Can spend more on swaybars and bushes now too. Thanks Dave
  4. Anyone know if the 33gtst suspension will fit in a 32gtst. There just aren't any secondhand 32 coilovers around at the moment and im getting desparate for some. Thanks Dave
  5. Big one on the left is the same as mine. 92 model R32 GTS-t. If they both fit then it shouldn't matter. Just depends which one has the heavier spring and will hold boost better cheers Dave
  6. I'm interested in the coilovers and maybe the rear strut brace Do you know the type and do they have adjustable tops? Also how old? Can you PM or e-mail me please
  7. Is that the wheel spinning run? That may explain the apparent power loss. Also that torque figure looks a little unrealistic. 32/33 gtr pull 350-360 Nm at around 4500 rpm stock. Just remember that power = torque x revs. So as torque drops and revs rise power stays flat. My guess is wheel spin (and the values are too high). What you've got there is wheels breaking traction at 100kms as the torque ramps up and the correction values on the dyno giving a very high reading. Cheers (Professor) BHDave
  8. Come on Guys, Someone has to have some idea, seen it before or something...... Dave
  9. In the last week I've started to have boost problems with my R32. I can have 1 run at full boost to redline in 1 gear only. After that it does not make any boost early in the rev range but will eventually make full bost at the top end. I'm talking 5500-6000 rpm to make 13psi, starting to make boost at around 3000 and slowly rising. After about five minutes it gets back to normal but the same thing will happen again. Any ideas? Wastegate sticking open, actuator problems? Leaking BOV? And how to check..... Thanks Dave
  10. Does the R31 have a separate reservoir for the Hicas? My R32 shares the reservoir, I know because when my steering fluid level got low my HICAS light flashed before anything else (I had a leak at the PS pump). Any old power steering fluid should do it (or auto gearbox fluid if your in a pinch and cant get anything else, trust me it works). It's all hydraulic fluid after all. I wouldn't be too concerned. Can't say I've ever looked at the colour of oils/fluids before though. Dave R
  11. Thermo fan install is a piece of piss. Just dont bolt the fan straight to the the radiator by putting bolts straight through the cooling fins. Seen it done, the screws wear through the cores with vibration and you get a leak. I made some drilled aluminuium brackets from 100mm wide strap and mounted the fan to them then bolted the brackets to the old radiator shroud holes. I ran the fan off an aux output on a microtech (It was an RX7) but you can buy an adjustable thermo swith from Davies Craig. Haven't installed an electric water pump. To get the most out of them I've heard that you need the controller (costs as much as the pump!). The pump gets fitted into the bottom radiator hose and you need to remove the belt from the water pump. I don't know how youd mount it though, it's got me stumped! It would make sense if the water pump controller could trigger the fan but I don't know that it does. I've heard good things about extra power from the electric water pump but haven't seen a back to back comparison on a dyno. Hope this give's you some idea
  12. I've recently installed a pnuematic boost controller to my lightly modded stock turbo R32 GTS-t. Problem is that the boost pressure doesn't hold all the way but starts to drop at the top end. I haven't done any testing yet but I think it's either the wastegate spring is too soft and is allowing the wastegate to be pushed open or the BOV is leaking. Opinions please.
  13. I think maximum must be talking about the return as oil feed sure as hell doesn't come from the sump ( for a start there's no pressure). Yes, you can tee off the oil and water feeds but you probablywill need to have separate oil returns to the sump, the straighter the better. If the oil cant get away you get smokey turbo syndrome. Dave
  14. The handbrake switch is an earth switch, basically when you pull up the handbrake it completes the circuit to ground, put it down it breaks the circuit. I had this problem a couple of days ago. Turns out there was another wire spliced into my handbrake light signal wire which had been hooked up to something in the past but wasn't any more. The connector on the end of the wire was shorting against some metal work and bypassing the switch, result was handbrake light on permanently. You've probably got a short somewhere which means the switch is being by passed. Unplug the switch and if the light stays on you'll know for sure. It only takes 2 minutes to pull the centre console off and try it.
  15. Intrested in opinions on the Hicas Removal Kits and the affect it has on the rear end characteristics of 32 GTS-t in particular. I am looking at getting the Tomei kit with shims and black box. Or is it worth pulling the asssembly out and replacing the whole unit with a fixed bar type lock? Thanks Dave
  16. Anyone know whether R32 GTS-t's have any shield between the bottom of the front bar and the bottom radiator support? Mine's never had one and as I've recently installed a front mount intercooler I was worried about air being deflected around the cooler and radiator rather than through it. Hope this makes sense, any help much apreciated. Dave
