he is one of the dodgiest people i have ever met. I wouldn't trust him to give me correct change for a 20, let alone work on my car. Regardless, depending on how much flare even luis would crack paint and kink guards if you want a big flare. Have a look at TMB's quarters net time you have a chance, big flare and not pretty. I did my own, no kinks but the paint is fuxored, though in all honesty try and add an inch either side and you can't expect the paint to hold up too well...

Can I Grind Calipers Off By 5mm?
BHDave replied to subie's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
honestly, f**k no. You'll end up going through into the galleries (for lack of a better term) taking that much off. You'd be better off fitting spacers or r33/34 calipers and rotors -
you paid mentle to touch your car? dude....

My Results From My Upgrade On My Awesome R33!
BHDave replied to evil_weevil's topic in New South Wales
evil does 1/4 mile runs! I'm sickened! on a serious note, what are your thoughts on the differences between the gtrs and the highflow evil? -
looks like the same as simonr32's with a hpc coated turbine housing. The gcg badge pretty much confirms tweakit are on selling the same turbo. So it'll be the .71 OP6 copy turbine housing with the cropped turbine, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Simon certainly got good results from it. It looks to be a decent sized waste gate flap too.

I tend to just change tyres, check pressures and drive these days. Other than maybe a minor adjustment of the pressure after a session or 2 i don't change anything as the car is at the limit of adjustment for the bits that are on it atm. A new front sway bar is on the list. Need a 27mm to balance out the 24mm rear as it's just a bit too taily.

wakefield slows down in the arvo? I hadn't noticed. My 4 fastest laps last time were my 4 last laps.... Maybe it's different in summer?

Got hail out at campbelltown at about 3:30 this arv. It was pea sized. It doesn't count if nothing is dented....

Track Rim/tyre Combo On 32 Gts-t
BHDave replied to falcon's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I had 3 degrees. There was a reasonable amount of space there but not enough that i was confident trying to fit a 235 RE55 in there as they are a BIG 235. I had an 8.5 +36 on the front for a while with a 225/45 tyre and the same camber. That scrubbed a bit until i rolled the guard slightly. -
Track Rim/tyre Combo On 32 Gts-t
BHDave replied to falcon's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
you will not fit a 9.5 +15 on the rear without massive guard work if you want to run a 265 wide tyre. (why 265 incidentally?). Thats actually the size of wheel i have on my gtst for street duties with stretched 235's and flared guards and it still scrubs a bit. I run a 17x9 +35 rear on my gtst with 235/45 RE55's for track work at the moment. They fit before i modded the guards as well. On the front with stock guards i ran 17x8 +30 with 215/45 advans. I added gtr guards and can now fit 17x9 +25 on the front with 235/45 RE55's. I reckon i could probably squeeze a 255/40 under the guard on that rim but i doubt i'd bother at this stage as i'd have a bit of work to fit a 255 under the rear. -
I'd say you may have missed reconnecting a wire or 2 when removing the safc. Some are splices, some are straight through.

The black wears/burns/falls off. It just ends up looking dirty anyway. Looks great initially though. It'll also harden up with heat so just wrap it tight so random bits aren't flaking off with vibration or when you brush against it when doing maintenence.
-
It'll bolt on but the more compact rear housing means that the dump and oil and water lines won't quite fit right anymore. You may end up with the front pipe smacking on the floor. On the compressor side the inlet and outlet are different to an SR t28
-
yes, though there is the possibility of the water lines being different as rb20's had 2 possible sizes of banjos on the turbo. The r33 turbos all had 24mm headed banjos, r32's could have either 20mm or 24mm from memory. It's easy enough to check before starting the job, just remove the heat shield and jam a socket on the outside banjo to see what size you have.

Quieting Down A 3 1/2 Inch Straight Through Exhaust
BHDave replied to gbturbos's topic in General Automotive Discussion
+1 for a big rear muffler. You will not make the car quiet while you have a 3.5 cannon on the back, even with a decent mid muffler I have a mid 3.5 muffler and a massive rear muffler that i pinched off an old Jasma stamped exhaust. It's quiet enough that i can hear all the other annoying noises my car makes while i'm driving on the freeway. I previously had a 3.5 cannon and it sounded great when winding it out through the gears but just too loud on cruise. It has unfortunately lost the fantastic sound it used to have, but i can drive it now without worrying about police in the next suburb knowing i'm on the way. -
Yokohama Advan A050 Vs Re55s
BHDave replied to HKS15's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The RE55 would get my vote as well. I have used both RE55 and AO48's (so not a true comparison) but i will never use the advans again. The advan is more expensive, seems to suffer more with heat cycling and just doesn't seem to perform if the pressures aren't spot on. I also found that they didn't feel too nice under braking as they got older. They just didn't inspire confidence. Where as the RE55's i used on the weekend are half worn on the front (3 tracks days old), well past the indicators on the rear (they have done 6 track days in the last year) and i generally just make sure they are around 34-36psi hot after the first session and don't touch them for the rest of the day. They are pretty noisey, not that it matters. I pulled another second out of my wakefield pb on the weekend, so i would say they are performing well enough for a weekend hack like me. And as they are still cheaper than most other semi's in 235/45-17 it's a good sweetner. -
Try it as is before spending more money.

What Box Will Fit My Rb25det
BHDave replied to 180dftr's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Conversions done by someone else make it hard.... If the car was originally manual i reckon it's almost certainly the original VL box. If it was non turbo then the box would be very similar to an rb20 box and about the same strength. -
What Box Will Fit My Rb25det
BHDave replied to 180dftr's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
First off; What car and what box? Based on your nic would i be right assuming its a 180 with engine conversion? Confirm you don't have a 20 box in there first before shelling out for internals for a 25 box. -
really? I didn't even think to look on weekends. At least i didn't miss anything.
-
Nah, they weren't interested after that

On a side note. I was at wakefield today and had to get petrol for the drive home as did a mates white s13 that was being driven by another mate who happened to be from rouse hill. We were pulled into an rbt near the mobil. The front bar on my mates car was cable tied. amusing hyjinx followed....though ultimately the police understood it was a different car after checking the plates.

fark! I missed fridays ep. 10 hours to build a rock crawler? you must be fu(king kidding! note to self. don't miss mondays ep.

i'd wait for the .9bar spring, but in all honesty a decent boost controller will be able to run a lot more than the base pressure. My old setup had a .5bar spring and i was running a fairly stable 20-21 psi for dyno duties (1 psi drop over the run) with an old blitz dsbc.
