  1. It was a solid day of my time by the time i removed it, removed lines, packed it up and took it to gcg, picked it up mod bracket to suit new actuator, realign housings, reinstall lines reinstall turbo. Probably add half a day in redoing some burned lines, heat wrapping and generally repairing stuff that got melted that i hadn't expected to melt.... then another $550 for new heavier actuator, replace gaskets and enlarged gate. A 6boost manifold is more than $900 isn't it?
  2. i think you need a new ruler..... either you have a massive gate, or your spring is over half a meter high.....
  3. gotta vomit.... t04s compressor and compressor housing. probably what is being sold as a 3037 by HPIAB so the 10 blade later spec turbine which doesn't suit the comp and either a bored out VG30 housing or one of the after market .71's.
  4. rx7 550's, but by the time you find 6, get them cleaned and flowed, find 2 are rooted and you have to get another 2 and clean and flow then then it's not worth it
  5. poly is a 2 part and once it sets it will burn, but not melt. You need to buy a kit but i have no idea where you could get automotive grade stuff. There's plenty of hobby type stuff about but it is way too far up the scale to be useful as a bush
  6. If i were to do it all again, i'd probably go an ex gate .63 with a 44mm tial on a 6boost manifold Mine is on the dyno on Saturday so i will have a better answer for you then.
  7. They aren't similar, they are the same. Same cam covers too, just different coil cover.
  8. I believe Sydneykid has added squirters to some of his 30DET engines though so it'll be achievable in the 25DE block. Failing that, ceramic coating on the pistions is another alternative. Other than that, build it like you would any other 25DET. I'd be guessing on the head gasket compatibility between different rb25's though. It may be worth having a read through the rb30 section and finding out what gasket the guys running 25DE heads use.
  9. no, i meant there was a better pic of the blue r32 with all the d max bits on it It's a rear 3/4 view. I'd say that that car would have plus 20mm rear over fenders on it. If you want bigger there is always the blister kit, i think it's from uras, but the lines of the car are all f^&ked up with it.
  10. Was only talking about the over fenders. The pic in your fist link has their wide front and rear guards on it but there is a better one from the rear floating around the net. http://racespec.com.au/product_info.php?cP...products_id=567
  11. d-max make them. You can get them off race spec who is a sponsor here. As for the silver gtst, i think it looks rubbish. They've obviously put some effort into blending it all in nicely and then stuck bumps everywhere on top. It's silly. I'd be inclined to either blend it all in properly and paint it, or go the honest look and trial fit, trim and paint the wide guards, then alloy pop rivet them straight onto the quarter. Obviously, it's my opinion only and every one has different tastes. As long as the guy who owns it likes what he has then thats all the matters
  12. replace .5psi with .5 bar and you'd be closer to the mark..... 99% certain it is now tune related, 1% still worried about the gate flap shrouding the outlet in the split dump (which is a very easy test anyway, just wire it open and go for a drive).
  13. I have been pulled into a road side breath test and the car had a going over. I was let off as i was actually sober for a change . I'm actually more worried about them than the random pull over these days as the car is fairly quiet and doesn't draw a lot of attention (unless doing tight turns in a carpark) but is still easily defectable if someone has half an idea.
  14. i suppose the obvious question is were they still working?
  15. i still have a creep issue, but it is more in line with what i'd call traditional creep. Boost is now stable up to about 4k and then it starts to rise. I have some time on a dyno booked next saturday for an initial play, and if we can get it to hold 16-17psi (which is the boost i run for track days) then we go for broke and stretch it's legs.
  16. http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...T30/GT3071R.htm have a read though. The real 3071 is a bit of a bitsa the way garrett list it. You basically spec your cart, your compressor housing and your turbine housing separately and get your supplier of choice to assemble it. The link shows the comp and turbine housing options and part numbers. What it doesn't show is the garrett IW housings which you just have to specify at the point of sale as any turbo specialist should be well aware of them by now. All that said, i'm still having creep issues with mine, even with the enlarged wastegate, but i really think it's tune related now. 240 is a bit of a low expectation of a 3071 incidentally. i have already made 260rwkw with a heap of timing out of it and half throttle as it just couldn't control boost at all at that stage. for a 200 rwkw rb20 i'd go no further than a 2530, i'd even go a 2510 if a second hand one pops up.
  17. bump, and price drop, $450 delivery extra what the hell happened to the edit button in my old posts! can't change the thread title!
  18. when you say it sounds like a tractor do you mean it idles smooth but has an exhaust leak, or do you means it is just running rough as guts at idle? The bov not plumbed in could cause the latter. If you start it and cover the bov outlet with your hand it should improve if thats allowing a leak. It's pre engine air flow but it is still metered by the afm so a leak anywhere will cause issues
  19. you can use the rb20 ignitor on the rb25 with some rewiring. Don't ask me for details as i can't remember, i did it years ago. You do have to remove the plugs and swap them around as the rb25 plugs are opposite to the rb20 ones. but yes, if you find an rb25 ignitor then the coils will plug in and work fine as they are suitable for 20, s1 25 and 26.
  20. hmm, anti surge mod on the 3071 compressor housing now? don't tell me that will be the next issue i encounter...... Out of interest though, if experience shows it doesn't surge, whats the point of the mod. I only ask becasue my stupid thing stuffs a lot of boost in below 3k and i haven't had an issue (yet).
  21. There should be a tag on the core. give us any numbers you see and someone may have a match pics are always useful.
  22. do a whole what on the track? What is a gts-s? bored now.
  23. Well he hadn't answered but felt the need to throw insults around. Is it my fault i'm smart enough to throw them back? Congratulations on confirming what i had already hinted at btw..... You would leave me in a cloud of smoke as I don't race idiots off the lights. I represent the modified car community when ever i am driving my modified car so i act sensibly. You on the other hand seem intent on perpetuating the stereotype. Nice work. You don't understand the difference between a track and the street from your comments, you are not in a position to claim i don't. So now that you are working have you been to a skid pan to improve your skills? No money excuses now.... I don't go to the track to test my mouth. I go to the track to test my skills and my car.
