  1. you're looking at 2k for a second hand 25 box, shaft and install if you can do it yourself vs around 5k for a rebuilt 20 box with internals done (retail obviously) Your mates can get you a gearset and output shaft (don't forget shafts as they are the next thing to go after 3rd gear) plus install for 2k? A 2535 equipped rb25 will not break a 25 box unless you are seriously ham fisted and have no mechanical sympathy.
  2. yeah but you just brought stock for stock looks into it and didn't mention the god awful stock wheels on a 33gtst..... The 32gtst actually has a nice bulge in the panel at the rear wheels (just like a gtr but not as wide). The 33 is just slab sided so i don't know where you come up with skinny from, maybe just talking the opposite of fat?
  3. yeah, that wouldn't be a problem
  4. It depends on the angle you look at it from I've flared the rears and have matching wheels all round now so it looks a lot more in proportion than it did at the time of the first photo. I'm still considering wide rear guards atm please excuse the filth in this photo. It's seen a skidpan and a wet track day since it's last wash. And it's been raised abu, the guards bolt on, the bonnet latch and support needs changing for the bonnet swap and you need gtr indicators. The front bar doesn't quite fit right either.
  5. thats the best looking fridge i have ever seen! Who left it in the car park nice looking washing machine in the back ground too. Team white goods? Wait! i have a better one: Just cos your car is too big to fit in a parking slot, doesn't mean you can take 3 have i mentioned this thread has out lived it's usefulness?
  6. What about the mo! He should never have shaved it off... Jacques Villeneuve - Just cos daddy could drive, doesn't mean you can Gilles Villeneuve - would be so disappointed....greatest driver to never win the title
  7. Thats pretty gtst My efforts pale into insignificance. I kept the povo spec gtst front bar with optional "flaking" chrome trim when the rest of the front end is gtr just so people know it's not a gtr. particularly important when closing the gap on 32 gtr's at the track....
  8. don't knock the twin spark!
  9. you can't argue with motor sport pedigree! Whens the last time you say a 33gtst racing in Group A! Oh hang on, never saw a 32gtst run there either.... damn, that pintara is looking attractive now. CA20e's aren't they?
  10. bollocks, just go buy a car that does the driving for you.... Or have a serious go in the s13
  11. :laughing-smiley-014: nice call. I dont know whether that makes them better or worse than an s1 r33 camry though........ This tread seems to be going no where fast.
  12. maybe if you believe the rubbish posted in NS.com. I like my 32 with rb25. Im yet to come up against a 33 with similar development and power so can't comment on comparisons as far as acceleration, handling etc As much as i pains me to say it, i'd suggest the r33 is a better base to start with, particularly looking at current prices. Get an s2, they at least look half reasonable....
  13. It's confirmed. The wastegate was wide open and boost kept on rising Absolutely useless half throttle run below. Even though it isn't shown, shoot 6 uncorrected for air temp. It at least shows the response (and top end if you're that way inclined) potential. Midrange power is down to buggery.
  14. The rough curve can be the sample rate of the dyno software. lower sample rate, smoother curve. Maybe spark issues, but that should have been very obvious to the tuner as you can see it, hear it and feel it Nice curve though, i'd suggest your tuner didn't get on the gas until 3k or so. I have seen enough of these turbos on a dyno to know you should have 18psi in the very low 3k range if the tuner is into it from 2k and the ramp up of the power happens earlier as well obviously.
  15. If you don't have the capability to purge the tank (some inert gas or another, though argon is the common one) don't even consider it. Explosions are bad. The tank isn't under pressure, but you do need to test for leaks if you do weld it up obviously. didn't even know you could get a minispool for 32's. I know a guy with a 31 who swears by the $100 ebay ones. if you go through 10 it's still cheaper than a 2 way.
  16. so you have a skyline? If so I guess you haven't worked out you have a drum handbrake built into the hat of the rear rotors yet? The hand brake and rear brakes are 2 completely separate systems
  17. As long as you are thinking it quietly and not posting it on a public forum......oh hang on?
  18. The pro has adjustable preload. It's as streetable as you want it to be. Mines the model below that so permanently uber tight. great on the track, and exactly as beer baron described on the street.
  19. I saw jonno crack a 1:07 at last years nscc track day. pretty certain he took out the fastest time of the day in a car with well under 200rwkw from what i have been told.
  20. I know you've said you've tested the relay, but have you checked that there's power at the coil when the ignition is on? The spark plug needs to be earthed to spark, so if the thread isn't resting on something that is earthed it won't do anything.
  21. They blow shut if used in a single pipe. If used in a Y pipe arrangement they are ok. Have a look at how the OEM gear is used, It's always on a second pipe or a diversion in a muffler, it's never blocking the primary pipe. godzl1975 has obviously experienced it. rubbish things. get a decent rear muffler and throw the cannon in the bin. Maintain power while avoiding headaches (both literal and metaphoric).
  22. from memory tein use a 75mm diameter spring and helper on the super streets I can't remember if thats an ID or an OD though. I'd give fulcrum suspension a ring if you are in qld or maybe wholesale suspension if in Sydney. sorry don't know any others.
  23. Save yourself a hundred or so by supplying the belt, tensioners and oil seals. Otherwise, looks ok.
  24. yikes, 1:07 in a 1200 on the old surface? Thats moving!
  25. I know it's a 3071 thread dale, but i'd be interested to see your 3037 results too. more food for thought for prospective upgraders.
