the extended bit (flare) goes to the inside (the side you screw the nut onto).

If you want big drop in's then look for some second hand apexi's on japan yahoo. They made up to 280 duration but are no longer available new. If you want easy new biggest currently available drop ins then go for hks. 256 8.8mm inlet, 264 9.0mm exhaust. I run these myself with stock lifters and springs and retain vct. As long as you keep the boost under 20psi you won't have an issue. If you don't mind losing the vct then go hks 264/264 with adjustable gears. You won't get any higher lift without head work and solid conversion. Now a question, when is it surging? You have a pair of N1's bolted to the side of your 25 right?

Apologies in advance for the quality of the pics. Low light and phone camera aren't a good combo. At least one of the 3 photos of the tag is partially legible.... Out of interest, does anyone know why garrett make the inlet smaller than a regular t3 size? As i have a spacer i'll be die grinding that to smooth the inlet into the turbo, but it just doesn't make sense to me. oh yeah. manifold to turbo studs are 1.5 pitch where they screw into the manifold but 1.25 on the other end. just discovered that after buying new long 1.25 studs

Hks Cast Low Mount Manifold Rb20/25
BHDave replied to BHDave's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Turbo sold. Front and waste gate pipe as good as sold. -
I got a pleasant surprise when i unwrapped my turbo. It is a genuine -23 cart And unfortunately even with the garrett turbine housing and .5 A/R cover it still needs a spacer. But the turbine housing is bollocksing massive! And it's only a .63. All i've dealt with for the last 2 years is my non gated .63 turbine housing and t28 sized ones. This thing is a monster! edit: lol at the swear subsitution enabled on the forum

yeah, 1 day turn around on my 3071 from GCG. Should be picking it up this arvo.
-
Pick mine up tomorrow. it won't be a genuine -23 but it will have the right housings and the right wheels. Technically it'll be a custom based on a 3076 cart but in practice it'll be a proper 3071 with the right sized wheels, .5 a/r comp cover and garrett turbine housing in .63. I have to have it on the road in 2 weeks or i need a blue slip (which i can't possibly pass) so all going well, results in 3 weeks. I'll be running a stock manifold initially. I'm a little undecided on whether i'll stick the quiet rear muffler on it or go for broke with the 3.5 ID cannon that i had on for my highest power runs. Probably have to go the quiet one for rego. I'm interested to see peoples takes on the dump pipe designs for the genuine turbine housings.

Gday mate, I can post to WA, send me a pm and we'll chat. Yep, you'd need a wastegate to run it as it isn't internally gated cheers Dave -
Running Ex Bosch 044 W/o A Surge Tank?
BHDave replied to Shockster0429's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
chuki is an sr 180 front end, zenki is the ca 180 front end, as far as Aussies and Japanese are concerned. type x front ends have a different name again, but i can't remember it as i've only seen it mentioned once. -
Running Ex Bosch 044 W/o A Surge Tank?
BHDave replied to Shockster0429's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
the 044 was in the back corner of the boot walbro in the stock location in the tank, so maybe 800mm between them by the time the hose wound it's way into the boot. to be honest i think the 044 just didn't like a 5/16 feed line as i had the same problem when i initially installed the surge tank and maintained the same 5/16 fitting on the inlet of the 044. I upsized to 3/8 (i think) or maybe 1/2inch, can't remember, and the problem went away. -
Running Ex Bosch 044 W/o A Surge Tank?
BHDave replied to Shockster0429's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I tried the exact same thing. The 044 was cavitating with that setup, it just couldn't get enough fuel in. If you want to run an external pump then add a surge tank with a decent size feed into the back of the 044, otherwise get an 040 and replace the in tank walbro and run one pump. -
Hks Wastegate Actuator Rod Angle
BHDave replied to nizmo_freek's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
If you don't have to return the existing bracket i'd just drill a new hole in the bit that bolts to the turbo so you can mount the second part that the actuator is fitted to at a bit of an angle. or you can go super dodgy stylez and bend the arm on the actuator. -
Anyone got some decent pics of a 32 with the d-max rear over fenders? They are +20mm or something so still kind of keep the lines right from what i can see, where as the blisters are too round imho.
-
The one vitz got has the .71 nissan style housing, same as simons, so if simon needed a 30mm spacer than it's a fair bet that vitz needs the same. I've been told that the 3071 with garrett spec turbine housing is a bolt on with the .5 comp cover. no spacer needed. I will confirm in a couple of weeks when i get my shit together and buy one.

Rb25 Gearbox Into R32
BHDave replied to lwboosted's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yep, the jumping is cable related, not drive. Mine did it before the swap so i tried to get the electronic drive working, but failed and went back to cable. -
search "rich and retard" and "misfire" and maybe "coil packs" if you're bored. One of them will give you the answer you need. But basically, gap your plugs to .8, if it still does it then get it on a dyno and see what the a/f ratio is like. If it's rich as hell you need an safc or some form of programmable management, if the mixtures are ok then your coils are shot. at 9psi i'd be inclined to think it's coils or plugs

Rb25 Gearbox Into R32
BHDave replied to lwboosted's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Considering the circlip design used on the r33 drive is the odd ball of the family and the rest of the drives use an interference fit with some kind of adhesive i think you'll be fine. Mine hasn't caused any problems yet and it regularly sees track work and speeds in excess of 180km/h. -
Hks Cast Low Mount Manifold Rb20/25
BHDave replied to BHDave's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
no, not yet. Plenty of interest in the manifold and gate, not much in the whole kit. -
Interesting, they have a pic of the t28IW spec 3071, but their description is miles off. the 550Hp rating and the .7 comp cover point towards it being a 3076 with the t04s front wheel (3037 as advertised on HPIAB) not the 71mm wheel. And the 3071 only comes in a .5a/r compressor housing from garret, though i'm 99% certain the HKS variants are a .6 comp cover. There's no way i'd put a 1.06 housing on one of these turbos. It would defeat the purpose of going for a small compressor. Mine will be a .63. I'm sure disco could provide convincing arguments about going for a .82 oblivion, specs of the proper 3071 http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...T30/GT3071R.htm Ignore the picture. I think they got lazy and put up a pic of a 3076 cart as it looks to be the .6 comp cover with the anti surge mod
