  1. Hi Guys, Earlier today i was driving around, decided to give the car a bit of a run off the lights. Changed into second while in second around 5000rpm it felt like i had hit the rev limitter, the car lost all power and was blowing a hell of a cloud of white smoke maybe with a tinge of blue out the rear when under load. I decided to drive the car home, noticed that it wouldnt make boost, boost would go up to 0 psi. When i got home i popped the bonnet and had a look noticed that a fair section of the gasket between the turbo and the dump pipe was missing. So i thought before i go thru the effort of removing the turbo since its like +35* outside i would see what peoples opinions where. Note: S2 R33, Stock turbo, running about 12psi
  2. thanks boys your all champs
  3. It hasnt affected the car one bit since i cut off the sensor All i want to do is just bung up the hole cus it leaks and makes the exhaust sound a little funny. So i just want to put a bolt in it but not sure what size a bolt to get.
  4. I just recently replace my cat with a nice 3" 200cel cat. And very happy with it i might add. My only problem now is that, i had to cut off the old Cat temp sensor cus it was that tight i couldnt get it off while under the car. Once i had the old cat off the car i was able to get the sensor off. I screwed the temp sensor into the new cat just to fill the temp sensor hole. Anyways the temp sensor has come loose now and fallen off somewhere in my travels. Does anyone know the size of temp sensor so i can just get a bolt to fill the hole? Cheers boys
  5. Would these fit on a R33 Gtst ok???
  6. Thats sounds like too big a job for me, maybe ill leave that to the mechanic. Unless anyone recomends it as being pretty easy? And a DIY job. Im sure theres a thread about it somewhere on here.
  7. Hrm, not sure about it being a tooth out. I took off the timing belt cover. Looked at the notches and everything seemed to line up. I decided to move the exhaust cam advanced 1 tooth. Then put it all back together. I got the timing to 15degrees. The exhaust note seems a little different now. Car seems to perform a bit better. Is there anyprob with moving the cam 1 tooth advanced from where the notches are?
  8. So say if the CAS half moon key is there cus im 99.9% sure it is, last time i looked. What could the problem be??? Maybe the Timing belt being a tooth out? The cars getting close to the 100,000k mark. Im pretty sure that sticker one the cam cover says to change it every 100,000ks.
  9. This is the first time using this timing gun. Brand new, its only a cheapy $60 job. Im getting the signal from the first plug. Its an inductive type. So ive put the clip around the set of wires going to the coil pack. Ive had the CAS off before, and looked at the teeth and half moon pin, they all look to be in good order. So i gather when i put it on last time there was only one way i could have put it on
  10. If i move the CAS in the oppisite direction (Clockwise) the idle goes all over the place and cannot even read with the timing gun because it looks as if the timing is fluctuating from about 0- to somewhere before the marks even begin. The CAS at the moment is rotated fully anti-clockwise so the bolts are hard up againts the right hand side of the CAS. So when i look down at the Crank it lookes like Marker ---> | Crank --> | | | | | | | 0TDC 5BTDC 10BTDC 15BTDC 20BTDC 25BTDC 30BTDC So i presume it reads as above?
  11. Anyone????? Someone must know. Im sure its a basic question. Im just a Noob
  12. This is my first attempt at adjusting the Base Timing on my R33Gtst. I got the timing light connected up and checked the timing. I can see the notches on the crank and the Marker on the caseing that you line it up with. THe maker seems to be pointing to the second notch from the left. So my understanding that this means the timing is currently at 5degrees BTDC. The problem i have is that the CAS is pushed hard up to one side so i cannot advance the timing anymore. How do i advance the timing anymore if i cannt turn the CAS further,my understanding Base timing should be 15BTDC. Does this mean the my CAS is on its way out and need replacing? Or does my Timing belt need to be replaced and everything need to be lined up?
  13. I have to looked for this stupid speaker. I have given up looking now, and when i work on the car i just unscrew the switch that knows when the doors are shut. If u unscrew that and disconnet the wires the beeping stops. YAY
  14. Since i have no idea about the PTU, where abouts is it located (R33 Series II GTSt)? Is there anyways to test if this actually is the problem ie. Visual Inspection, Testing Resistances or Continuity with Multimeter. Is it possible to clean it or any way of restoring/fixing the original one? Its just hard to borrow someone elses since the fault may only occur once a week or whenever its pretty random. Ive seen one on ebay for $200, but still dont recognise this component from under the hood. Help would be much apreciated. Has anyone else had faults with there PTU or Similar faults to this. Would changing the PTU also fix a real bad flat spot between 4-5k? Sorry all i want is some answers before spending $200 or so on a PTU that i may not actually even need. Cheers
  15. How serious is this problem? Is it an easy fix (DIY?) And what exactly is a Power Transistor Unit?
