  1. I still miss that car
  2. well if that's not a blast from the past
  3. LOL at BB in short skirt
  4. If i sum it up all i was doing was asking more and more from the engine to cover up other issues ( which were far cheaper to correct ) in the handling and weight of the car
  5. Kaido, your getting sound advise from these guys! I have some knowledge about this as well as i did build mine to race against some serious factory race cars. And to be perfectly honest we built a great engine with lots of power, and that was my first mistake. From the day we removed the stock engine was the day we started to have issues. Not once did the old stock engine give any problems. Instead of spending 10k+ on that i would have, should have put that into the handling development of the old girl. It was only after i did start to get that part of the package right did the lap time really improve and that was after i had a 430AWHP engine sitting in it. Your order of merrit should be something like this. Weld in cage Weight reduction program (best HP ever) Better brake package Better suspension coil overs, bushes, swaybars and control arms etc Ensure 4wd system and diffs are 100% Oil cooler / radiator ( well i had to at least ) That will give you a good platform to start with, and wont cost you a down payment of a house! I like to look at it this way HP will make you a bit faster, as it will cover any mistakes you make or the lack of handling from your car. Penny dropped for me one day following a clio cup car while running another new engine in. Was only allowed to pull 4000 RPM which put me about the same top speed as the clio. Unlike race days where i would hose them down any straight if i needed too. But following this guy for 20 minutes firmly told me my car was not all it should of been as he handed my arse back to me in the twisty sections. But some investment in good coilovers etc and a alinement spec supplied by Giant made far more improvement in laptimes then when i dropped the 10k engine in.
  6. yep, although i havent seen it in 8 months
  7. Ohh this ia very long and slippery slope my friend, be very careful once you start its hard real hard to stop. I know this cause i just want a good track car as well............just buy mine lol i have other toys to play with

  9. mate took an arwful long time to get to the first corner lol
  10. nar Ducan its not to bad we will have over 3.5 hours for the weekend which is more than enough. No FF or mini's etc just the radicals and us as support. And i do believe we will be quicker than the V8! Roy not much into rubbing carbon firbe panels i can tell you...might not happen yet as uber dollar diff wont be here until wednesday. Anyone ever heard of a riccardo GT1 diff?
  11. Ok 1 week to go and they will let us loose on this little beastie http://www.dubaiautodrome.com/uploadedFile...rcuit%20Map.pdf Only 21 turns per lap lol old quiafe gearbox is going to get a working over next weekend
  12. LOL no love in here for the super taxi huh. Anyways we are one of the support races next weekend in a GT class and i am betting we will be quicker than they are, and by some margin too.
  13. sickly expensive

  16. yer we have to we brought 2 cameras to put in the thing just never seems to us them
  17. Been a while since last post but car is again set to run. We are the support race for the V8 supers in Abu Dharbi on the 19 / 20th Ran sequential box last time out and what a difference that made. Anyone coming over for that race :-)
  18. mate your pepper grinder is! not so sure about ya boof head. Do they make em in your size, and when you coming over to race the old hotwheels car?
  19. ohhh yer the GT2 is a super car alright simply bullet proof, and are uber fast! My old porker is no match for these uber fast cars, but more than a handful for your new GT3RS, mind you i do have some aftermarket running gear on mine. I have driven the track prepared 996 GT2 and its truely a real buzz, but it can put the fear of god in you as this was or still is a brutal weapon. totally different to the big single turbo where there is lag but the GT2 torque is almost back bruising, and as a rosd car it has to be utterly fantastic. Hats off to you on improving the the GT2 and enjoy, but i have to say the only other car i have seen faster than the GT2 we raced against last year is a Calloway GT3 Z06 Corvette and the Porsche GT3 Cup S and a certain GTSR viper. And these are fully prepared race cars against a factory road car, there is not much in it either You have a mighty fine car (s) on your hands and its firmly on my list one day!
  20. GOT TO SAY ITS A VERY NICE CAR, RACED AGAINST ONE LAST YEAR SO I KNOW HOW QUICK THE BEASTIES ARE. BUT THERE IS NO PORKER LIKE AN OLD PORKER LOL
  21. brave sole to admit having a porsche on this forum lol
  22. Like your melon is worth protectin BB :-)
  23. depends on the circuit but you will need to test by the tyre temp inside of tyre should be around 5 degree hotter than the middle and outside of tyre. Tyres need to be around 53 to 60 degrees for best performance and warm them up well before you start to give them any grief or they will grain up and you will damage them
  24. Ohh no mate we made the first round! not without issues but we made it. LOL was a laugh considering we only had 2 gear changes per lap due to 3rd gear not working, still finished 7th out of 17 so not so bad. The crew are quite chuffed considering it was only the purchased parts that let us down. Big old thank you to Steve Bijok and Heltec, Captain Blair Brownlee, Bernard B Bear Mclintock, Julian, Big Fred who has about the most impressive collection of cars i have every heard about and Jon from DXB racing ( who by the way are our competitors with another ACR viper but helped us out more times than i can count in true spirt of club racers ) and the crew from Axis for the body work and for putting up with me grumpin around telling every one to say away while i wired it. ohh and nearly forgot Spence and missus Spence for corrupting Spanna the work shop dog and turning him into a sooky lar lar with their sauage rolls and home made sangers. And its 8.3 litre and spins to 6200 :-) you would not believe what its like to drive very different to the old girl. Surprisingly it really wants to make more power at the red line, last 2000 rpm it just launches and sitting between the exhausts it sounds like its doing about 19,000 rpm enough to make your ears bleed! But man are they a tough old engine we broke a piston ring land on the practice before the race meeting it was about 60mm long and 20mm wide and the compression ring due to the intake temp we think as it was stupidly high. But we have changed the entire ducting for radiator discharge so hope that will correct that. But hats off to the old girl we turned the the rpm down to 5600 using 4th and fifth gear and still put it on p4 only 1.5 second off the new calloway corvette. Removed the head to check before the 45 minute race, which was less than an hour from start to finish and it was still hanging in there. And the result you know even as i said with 2 gears and 9 pistons lol. look out when the sequential gearbox is fitted and we have a true 450 rwhp and 800 odd nm of torque. Then we will play.
