  1. By the sound of it the hardest part will be to find a 18mm drill here in Dubai. my kingdom for a decent auto and hardware shops
  2. Cheers Roy, your coments are very well received i think i will take him up on the offer. Regards
  3. They have been offered for free. I dont think it would be a big issue to drill and tap the mounting points. Are they better brakes i can alway get new slotted discs to suit the r 34 calipers.
  4. I have been offered a set of R34 brembos and disc's. i am wondering if that would be a step up from the slotted R32 disc's (new) and standard calipers?
  5. Just got off the phone with Allan from Bond rollcages and he tells me its also the same in Australia except there you have to get a cams person to pass the welding. He was very helpful and i think i will go with one of his cages.
  6. If you are really keen you want to look at a 2nd hand rotax max. You can pick karts up to suit what ever standard of racing or a just as a social type of enjoyment. I currently have 2 karts that i use here in Dubai and i was lucky enough to win the national championship here last year and attend the rotax world champion ship. If you are going to get a 2nd hand kart a simple test to see if the frame is not twisted or bent is to turn the steering wheel from lock to lock and make sure that the outside wheel comes of the ground about the same distance when you turn from lock to lock. It should pick up either front wheel when this is done, if not then leave it alone you are buying trouble. Also these days the rotax is the most popular class and they have different weight classes so there is something for everyone. Its a lot of fun but be careful as it is adictive ( highly ) All rotax which are being raced should come with a seal and from this seal you should be able to inquire how many hours of running has the piston done and bottom end for that matter. Ask for the contact details of the engine builder and talk to him they will get you onside quickly.
  7. You can get the regs from the FIA web site have posted the link for you. http://www.fia.com/resources/documents/994...ppJ_Art_253.pdf
  8. Guys, I have just got off the phone with safety devices who are a very big builder of FIA cages in the UK. And i am utter shocked to find that yes he can have a cage holmogated and then he can bend up the approved design and then post it to me and i can weld the little beastie up, then sign on the bottom of the certificate supplied and forward that to the FIA repesentative here in Dubai and i then have a FIA cage i built meself.........how silly is that! And that is straight from the horse's mouth too.
  9. Guys, Just a quick question on roll cages for competative racing. I am struggling to find a 6 or 7 point cage with FIA approval here in Dubai. Is there anyone in Australia making roll cages with FIA or CAMS approvals? regards
  10. Ok before you say it i do have the correct clamps on order for the ducting, and believe me you have to order everything over here no just nicking down to the local hardwhare etc etc. you can see by the pic i have managed to get it to the back of the dust plate or what ever its called. I did bend it out of shspe just to give it clearence but as you can see it has not touched it once yet. The front of the duct has been cable tied ( as well ) to the mesh so it should be ok with any large bits and pieces finding their way into the brake area. Also it hard to see but their are some slots about 65 mm long and 6mm wide, there are 4 of them and this is what i have directed the duct at. And it seems to work as the last track day i had no fad issue at the end of either straight even with just old bendix ultima's, cant wait to try the project U level 900 pads.
  11. i will post some pics later but i did manage to get a 90mm od aluminimum flex run right up to the back of the backing plate. I did have to change the shape to allow the wheel to get full lock both ways and the LHS was a right pain but they are about 50 from the backing plate directed at the centre of the plate which has large holes as standard i guess to allow the rotor to suck in cooler air. Works ok as i have 2 portable fans to place in the front of the car when it has finished its run and even though it is stationary i can feel quite a lot of air traveling through the duct to the brake rotor, would just be nice to have the ducts connected to the backing plate to get all the cooling i can. Might have to get inventive with some aluminimum pipe and rivet that to the backing plate . And when i get that done i am going to build me a home made cool suit as running around in 40 + temps is not doing me any good either
  12. Mate i will take a quick look at the drawnings and see if i can find a weak spot in the circuit shouldnt be too hard, will get back to you on that. And sorry mate the skip was emptied on saturday so its gone. I did try to get rid of it i put it on several web site for free but seeing as i live in Dubai it was a little costly to send anywhere else.
  13. Does anyone know if there is a kit for attaching the brake ducts to the back of the heat shield on the front of a R32? regards
  14. And Cowie, i have just thrown and entire interior into the skip 2 days ago i will check and see if its still there.
  15. Hi cowie, I found it by testing with my trusty old fluke meter and a good set of diagrams on these type of car i found on the internet. Tested the conductors and found several circuits had shorted knew then it was a loom problem. found a broken cable tie under the drivers side inner guard allowing the loom to rub through. I was lucky i guess a simple fix really but it had me stumped for a while. Now has all ties replaced with some nice nylon saddles.
  16. Andyn, I got myself a complete set some months ago for my R32 GTR. I have had no problem with them although i am running Project U level 900 pads now so i know they will be harder on the disc than the Bendix ultima pads iwas running but they could just not stand up to 3 track days I got mine from ABS and i paid 710$ for the complete set for the GTR.
  17. I guess i can get pics when i am in that area next. Have to say they were bloody dear though 7000 dirhams ( 2590 Aus $ ) I can get the garrett Gt 28rs for 3168 dirhams ( 1173 Aus $ ) so i think i will go for that option
  18. Yesterday i notice a new performance sho in Dubai selling turbos call Mr Turbo. I asked the sales guys and he told me they were made in Australia. I have never seen them before and these units come with a purple aluminimum cartridge. All ideas?
  19. cheers guys i got found it! was a short inthe loom where it had chaffed through the insulation
  20. After looking into the problem a bit more i have two fuses that are continuing to blow after i replaced them. i have attached a pic as the cover i have for the fuse compartment is in Japanese. I know that they are the right size fuses any idea and what circuit they are for so i can chase the problem down please would give me a start. Regards
  21. Right got the car back together after some 6 weeks waiting for a new speedo, thought the cat and the kids in my street were getting far to many so it was time to start the car and scare a few of them off ( V loud ). All was fine until the dash disply went all weird, i now have no tacho and the oil pressure and torque gauge are pointing at top of the dash and temp gauge stopped and the power windows went out with the temp gauge and no longer are working. I know it sounds like a fuse ( i hope ) and i will check them today but any ideas will be gratefully entertained
  22. GT_R_Turbos.htm Not sure but this may help out as it gives all the flange types http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tbroom/Turbos.htm
  23. Craved, yer your right i read it as i think i have most post on this forum trying to get a handle on these cars. But this one is not far from Dubai so it is more cost effective to get it from the states than Oz. And its ready to go so to speak and tried as i have i cant find any one here that knows a great deal about these cars.... all porche over here i am afraid
  24. would this be suitable to use for tuning with a Pfc? I have very limited options here and is best if i can do it myself
  25. Nope thinking it is a stocker chip Part number is MEC R282A 8RX1D-04 on the chip that is. By the way have you seen one of these items as i wonder if it would be ok for me if i installed a Pfc then i could do my own tuning as there is just no one here set up to do this. http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/lm1.php
