Power Steering Leaking From Top Of Pinion Housing
Birth replied to Birth's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Anyone got any thoughts on this? -
Hi there, I have a 2003 V35 GT8 sedan which I believe is as stock as a rock. While mucking around with my brakes I noticed that all of my shock absorbers are red. I would have expected stock shocks to be black and have Nissan on tehm, but mine are red and I can't see a brand on them? Whcih leads me to wonder - what colour stock shocks are on other cars?

Hi there, has anyone changed the front rotors themselves? I had a go at changing them this morning, I removed the wheel and the caliper. I expected the rotor to simply pull off but it didn't. A few taps around the hub with a hammer did nothing to loosen it. I could not see a fitting screw or anything - should the rotor simply pull off - I am guessing that it is simply siezed to the hub a bit. Thanks, Ben.

selcuk; the spoiler is Nissan OEM, I bought it from a guy about 5 years ago for $200; I like it because original ones are quite hard to come by, though for all intensive purposes it is exactly the same as having a copy!

Thanks vinnie32GTS4. Somos; I want an R32 GTR, I would consider a swap (with cash adjustment) for one of those. Thanks anyhow.

Here are some pics; as you can see in the fifth picture there is a slight bump on the corner of the bonnet.

Hello all. It has taken me a very long time to get around to it but I am quite keen to buy a DR30. Given that there are relatively few exemples available in Australia; particularly with the minimal level of modfication I am looking for; I am looking to import. I would however like to take the opprtunity to check out and drive a DR30 before going through the hassle of bringing one in so that I can be sure that I will love it as much as I think I will - I have only ever driven one before. If someone is in Sydney, has the time on a weekend as is inclined to let someone drive their car I would very much appreciate the opportunity! Thanks, Ben 0411 243 284

Dr Josh, you don't know where that red 30 is at now, I would certainly pay more than $5,500 for one in such stock condition! Slim chance; but there is no harm in asking I guess..?

Is the bonnet lip stock or aftermarket? Thanks.
-
Not too sure about Lumley's; I think they are trying to rort me - I am insuring a 350GT sedan for $26,000, I am 29, living in Sydney, storing a car in my garage and have a perfect driving history and they want $1,693. Mellowman - you must have a real sexy voice or something!

F/s Momo Race Steering Wheel
Birth replied to pj-33's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
What does it look like? -
Jap Link motors tell me that they can repair the CD player for $250 which includes removing the unit from the car, replacing the failed mechanism and re-installing it. Chris, I understand that you believe that the cost should be alot more. Can you suggest what the difference in price could be attributable to?

Low Fuel Warning - What Colour Is Your Car?
Birth replied to Birth's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
There you go then, deep down inside all V35s want to be silver! Waz, I think it comes up when the km to go is less than 50. -
Hi all, this is more out of interest. I have a 2002 350GT8 sedan in silver. When my fuel runs low I get a message on my screen like the one I have attached. You will notice that the car in the picture is silver - like my car. I am interested as to whether people with different coloured cars get different coloured cars in their low fuel warning pictures. Anyone?

Oils Aint Oils - Or Are They?
Birth replied to gt-v35's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Thanks Waz32GTSt. The trick is to let the engine settle betfore using the dip stick. I found that if I turned it on I couldn't get a dip for a bit. I had to let out a half - one glass of oil as I found that I had over filled it to a bit over the H. Yep, you were right, a little under 5L. -

I am talking about my V35 350GT8 (sedan). How mcuh oil did you end up putting in? -
Oils Aint Oils - Or Are They?
Birth replied to gt-v35's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I used Castrol Edge Sport which is 5W-30 (as recommended by gt-V35). The car seems to run smoothly, but I can hear one of the lifters tapping a bit. One question, how much oil did you put into yours? When I emptied mine a little over 5L seemed to come out, so I put the 5L in. I found through-out the whole process (at 2L, 3L and 4L) that I couldn't read the dipstick - there was always alot of oil smeared on it. Thanks, Ben. -
[diy] Put A/v Input For 350gt W/o Reverse Camera

Hi guys, where exactly is the TV unit? Is it in the boot of the car under the parcel tray? -
To save some of the hassles with using a mirror to line up the timing mark on the belt with the crank gear you could use liquid paper or something to mark the side of the belt so that you can see which groove the mark is in.
-
For quick retentioning maybe it is easier to use a hole saw to cut a hole where the tensioner is, then cover the hole with a rubber bung. This way all the dirt etc. is still kept out, but you now have easier access to the tensioner. Just a thought to round out a relatively old thread.
-
I put in a new timing belt to find it stepping off. In my case I had put a washer from the tensioner 'behind' the tensioner instead of 'in front' of it. This effectively pushed the tensioner forward a fraction and not lined up properly. Silly but simple.

How much are OEM pads? Where can you get them from?
-
Hi Andy, I would be keen to get the menus translated - I have been watching the thread to see how you go with it. The problem with my CD player is someting different - the mechanism in the CD player is buggered - it can't play, change or eject CDs. It is apparently a fairly common problem with the V35's which is a pain because of it's integrated design. As a result I am interested in the full iPod integrations being discussed here, though I don't want to make my interior rattly by pulling it apart and back together again. However, if there was a good enough solution I could go to the effort. I have read that the CD players sometimes randomly come back to life after a month or two, so I have my fingers crossed!
-
I would be interested in that. I would like to do something with the screen etc. in the car especially since my car is now giving me the fcuk off (F0) error code! I am just not sure what is available, how much it will cost and the amount of work is involved.
