std sci degree is 3 years at same rate, 4th year if you want to do honors. only really worth the 4th if you looking to do further study like a masters or a Phd.
oh and most of those doing masters/Phd are on a scholarship paid for by private industry (cheap way to reaseach a new technology) so it not coming out of your precious taxes.
personally I think we should be funding more education/uni/reasearch.
if we want to grow the planet we either need to do that or bring in more migrates that have skills.
so from melb uni now per year:
The student contribution amounts in 2015 are $8,768/EFTSL for Sciences, $6,152/EFSTL for Humanities, $8,613/EFTSL for Built Environment.
so an engineering degree is 4 years so 35ish?
think I exited with about 15-20ish
the numbers of permanent students is tiny, those there for like 10 years are usually getting Phd's and such and will earn it back in the log run.
yes there a few that don't want to work but it's easier to be on the dole with much less work.
as for the discount if it still like when I was paying it back if you make lump sum payments on top of the stuff coming out of your salary then yes there is a discount. used my first couple bonus at work to kill mine off.
oh and it hasn't bee called hecs for years, it HELP now and your all showing your age.
exactlly.
for me it was Comp Sci and the dot com boom.
I was lucky enough to get a job about 3 months b4 it kicked in, after leaving uni 12 months early.
those that started with me and got their degree, bad luck.
all wet weather does is take the advantage away from those 300+kw track cars.
and those with a bit more road orientation have much much more chance.
oh and cheating evos as well.
yeah 1600 kg is not enough to tow a car and trailer need a min 2000 kg
most hire trailers are 500ish kg, add in some tools and extra fuel in the car and 200 min amount.
this was all the searching I did at the time.
auto falcon ute can do 2300 thus why I went with it,
An employee, other than a casual employee, has to be paid 'make-up pay' for the first 10 days of jury selection and jury duty.
http://www.fairwork.gov.au/leave/community-service-leave/jury-duty Example: Payment for jury dutyJulie was required to attend jury selection and was chosen for the jury. The jury service lasted 12 days. She provided her employer with evidence that she had been paid $60 per day by the court. Julie's base pay rate is $140 per day. Her employer paid her 'make- up pay' of $80.00 per day for 10 days. For the remaining 2 days she did not receive payment from her employer.
in most cases it is separate.
company still pays you (well the delta from the pathetic amount the gov gives you) and no impact on your personal leave.
that said when I did it, my company didn't do the delta as the amount they would save would have been much less than the cost of adjusting a pay cycle
that that helped our CEO's christmas bonus.
and what large bonus' they got from it as well
from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamba!
In late 2004 under Irvin's direction, VeriSign bought Jamba for $270 million.
Jamba/Jamster boomed—when VeriSign bought the business it had a turnover of $15 million per quarter and 3 quarters later this increased to $150 million a quarter—in 2005 the company made close to $600 million
napster? limewire? or better yet was this being shared around on IRC......
