  1. yea the greddy one uses the stock entry and exit, runs along bottom of the intercooler.
  2. im pretty sure if the box is engineered then its ok, otherwise its illegal, this is coming from trying to pass a fully enclosed pod, and other members are going through this problem right now(engineered box still not passing EPA inspection) Also illegal off the top of my head are any exhaust tampering device, ie Apexi EVC, Spacers and adaptors, even bolt ons. coloured lights, ie parkies front intercooler must have mesh and front bar must not be altered to fit it.
  3. nice work, makes sense, but would this still hold if you also had a piggyback running (ie hks fcon s)?
  4. Im a bit strapped for time! my cars pissing me off lately, first it was missfiring, turned the boost down a touch and all was good but still was not totally gone, so next step was coilpacks, went out and bought a new set, then the problem dissapeared for about 2 months, so i still have them rapped up in the box, then a couple weeks ago i noticed the slight shudder so im not sure what it is, planning on changing the fuel filter, undoing, redoing my piping, and seeing how that goes, replacing the coilpacks(however i checked the plugs and packs after i had the misifre and they were fine, no hairline cracks) i'll post up when im done with all this work, now to find some time! you could always swap for a charade, 3 cylinders FTW!
  5. Haha gotta love the mutual favours But yeah as was said, some spacers do compress over time depending on their quality and material = loose nuts = bad. this is why its recommended if you ever get new wheels, you tighten them after a short drive to make sure they stay tight, even if an air gun was used first time round.
  6. what if you got smaller piping or anything like that between the turbos and intercooler, that will fit or that you can manage to bend around the stock box, then just find a way to disengage the turbos, so the pipes wont even need to run anything, drive it there and back, and your done. BTW if you change the box is he gonna make you do another emmisions and noise test?? haha now u understand what i went through, but i got off lucky, all this drama for a Fcukn Pod!
  7. +1 for IS racing, has built a few 10 sec street gtr's with unmatched quality. Also Maytech Automotive Unit 2 8-12 Deadman Road Moorebank - (02) 9600 6995 (note both do everything including parts, tuning and standard service)
  8. Its actually the smart thing to do, no matter how well the spacers fit onto your hub and wheel setup, if they are illegal, then thats all your insurance/police need to shift blame if anything happens, if he did not tell you then he would be liable if anything did happen. The only way to have legal spacers on, is to weld them onto the hub, and then get them engineered,(coming from an rta inspector when i got defected for 30mm bolt ons) That said, as far as drivability goes, those spacers you've got are fine, its the legality of them he was talking about mainly.
  9. you coud cut a part out of the top, then stick a snorkel in the hole like tho stock skyline boxes, if you need to borrow a snorkel i got one
  10. thanks for the pm, my mate was looking there a little while ago for his 200sx, lucky he didnt do anything there, btw Dominic read the pm i sent see what you reckon,
  11. saw a white stagea plates "stagea" the other day rockdale, and just saw another red one today bexley, very 'wtf is that, skyline?, huh wagon?, oh stagea!' when i first saw these
  12. TNT offers this service, best give them a call couldnt hurt 13 11 50...
  13. + 1 thanks, btw how long was your car at this shop getting all this 'work' done
  14. i think i'm having this same problem. only started recently, On idle there is a faint shudder, can be heard through the exhaust lightly as well, car has also started to backfire just a little which might be related.
  15. Moei, u know about my problem, i ended up finding the stock piping and airbox which i just bolted up and passed, but if i didnt find that what i was going to do was find the smallest stock airbox i could (ie excel or something) and modify that to bolt on as there was no way the stock box was going to fit with my piping.
  16. Oops sorry, didnt realise you were in victoria. sorry there up here in nsw.
  17. Give custom bodyworks a call 9773 4339, they were doing a wrx last time i was there, but that was to fit wheels on it, still worth a try though, they do great work
  18. The guy at granville told me if i were to put my custom air box in for the test when i did mine, it would have to be engineered before hand, so if its already engineered then there shouldnt be a problem as its been previously approved to clear EPA standards?
  19. oops my bad, i was talking about the full adjustables
  20. Not sure about QLD but in NSW you need to have them engineered to have no worries, reason is say you get defected for ride hieght, all you do is go home and raise the car, clear it, then drop it again. First thing a cop asked me when i raised my bonnet?"Your suspension engineered?" (Apparently the engineer must measure the car at the lowest 100mm ground clearance, then destroy any residual thread on the coil over that would cause it to go lower).
  21. Haha hey buddy i agree with you there, i dont mean going kamikaze with a hammer on the inside of the wheel area hoping for the best, Ive heard and dealt with enough of these problems to know that most of these issues are small easy fixes, most. Depends where your problem spot is, get a pic if you can mate we can help you out more. If your not sure where it is get a crayon or something similar and go over the inside edge of the tyre, or wherever you suspect its rubbing, drive around the block, have a look and see where its hitting..
  22. spacers, smaller tyre ie 235/40/18, or depending where its hitting you could use a hammer to get a few mm's clearance which is normally all it takes.
  23. Unscrew and take your ecu with you, i wont leave my car parked anwyhere without it!
  24. pm sent
  25. Hey buddy, i had a similar problem , in the same area, except i was parked and having dinner when my sunday got jacked. In regards to the seat and cage, if they're engineered i cant see a problem there. I have heard there pretty strict on the full inspection though, my mate had to go back because he didn't have the baby seat hooks on the rear shelf after his system install.(nothing some glue didn't temporarily fix) the exhaust may be a problem, if you have the stock back on should be fine, make sure your cat is ok as well. but make sure you remove any after market ecu or pfc you might have, as these will cause you to fail the emmisions test( if not detuned), which measures co2 and so on not just noise. I spent the night before detuning my car at my mates shop so it passed on his emmisions machine, but you have to take it to the nominated shops. They might say something if you have replaced the intercooler without engineers as that affects emmisions as well.(mine was engineered) the air box will have to be standard, unless its engineered. i can almost guarantee you will not pass no matter how good your own box turns out, as they take photos then send it to EPA who assess it. I had the same drama except i was given a part inspection for the RTA defects which my mate cleared for me, but i did have to go to Granville, Archers motors for the EPA issue. i dealt with the owner there , hes a good bloke and its a mechanical workshop not just an EPA station so they're not di**heads like some other places. I refit the standard box, i was expecting to have to do an emmisions test, i kept my apexi exhaust on as i couldnt find a stocky in time. turns out i didnt need emmisions as i just passed the noise test on the sunday night and i had engineers certificate for the exhaust and emmisions. (However he spent a good half hour on the phone with the EPA to make sure the emmisions test was cleared, as any other person would have done the test straight away)
