I get a similar crunching/grinding on my car also. definately seems to be coming from the front on very low speed turning, for eg. turning up into a drive way. However it only happens on occasion.

G'day guys.. I'm happy to announce I recently purchased a HR32 GTR Godzilla. I do have this one concern though, there is a high pitched sound, like a hum that is quite audible and annoying. I know it has something to do with the clutch, because if i dis-engage the clutch (press in the clutch pedal), the noise stops. So far i've been told it is the "thrust bearing".. I also know that the gearbox has recently been changed in my car, and have heard that when a gearbox change occurs, there needs to be some kind of re-adjustment of the clutch, is this true? Any body else had the same problem or know what it might be?
