  1. Yeah MSNZ is pretty sweet. I'm looking into either a GTR bonnet or a fibreglass one as well as fibreglass front guards to try and get some weight out of the front of it.
  2. Dude, I am doing exactly this over in NZ. I've got an R32 GTS Coupe that I'm building to rally. Have a look here http://www.skylinesdownunder.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=52581 As far as weight goes mine was down to 1160kg, stripped out with the facory front seats in and about 50ltrs of fuel on board. My main worry about using a Skyline on gravel id the poor weight split between front and rear. I think an SR20 would help this a bit, but I love the sound of an RB @8000rpm too much! The car now has a full cage in it and just a single race seat, so I must get around to weighing it again. I haven't seam welded mine, but I have had the cage stiched into the pillars etc and will be building suspension braces too. I don't know about an RB25, but a mate has an RB20DE-t thats revs happily to 8,500rpm with a stock bottom end. My car just has an RB20DE and it's happy to rev the same. Hope some of this helps. Cheers Shane
  3. Half the fun is building it I think! We are lucky out here with our flood of imports keeping things cheap. Usually an average R32 GTS would be $3-5K NZ
  4. Cheer dude. Yeah it was a bargin, especially because it still had WOF and rego. I'd been looking for a long time tho and the car was pretty rough, if you have a look at the thread on SDU you'll see. Good luck with your search for one. BTW, mine owed me $2K nz by the time I got it to it's first trackday.
  5. Cheers, there's some good info there. If anyone is interested in seeing how the project is coming there is a thread on SDU. http://www.skylinesdownunder.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=52581 I'm not on here much, so not much point in setting up another thread here too.
  6. Stating the obvious...but They mean 200hp @ flywheel I'd say.
  7. 108rwkw was about a year later with some breathing changes that hadn't been dyno tuned.
  8. Yeah, I'm well on my way in the sprip out. Only got steering column and some of the associated wiring in the car at the mo. Got all the tar crap out and will hopefully be painting the interior this weekend. Lossing kg's is the cheapest hp I say I'm from the N/A team, so decent power will be worried about later on, probably s/c. My road GTS handles like a dream on the track so I'm starting with a similar set up and will work from there. Same with brakes, got a good set on the red one that work well on the track, so I'll be using the same setup again. Cage, yip yip. Getting some prices at the mo. Hoping to be able to get a 6 point with good side protection too. My cars are always well serviced and I use only good bits that are up to the task. Maintanance/modding go hand and hand I reckon, can't do one and not the other I say;) Post up some interior pics if you got any. I might start the build thread so you can see what I'm up too.
  9. Gidday. I've gone and got myself a second GTS coupe that I am building up for club level motorsport. I've done a few trackday's in my red one and decided it is too pretty to scratch up on gravel or in the sand trap somewhere. Was just wondering if anyone here was doing a bit of a budget build like myself and if they wanted to share their project. I got a little thread I started on SDU, if there is enough interest I may post it here too. Always good to have feedback from fellow Skyline enthusiasts
  10. Sil25, what power is it making with those mods? Have you had it dyno tuned, cause if you've just thrown the parts together you wont be getting the full benifit. I've never found the 25's to be all that revy when compared to the 20's, probably just a capacity and compression thing. What size exhaust? You might want some bigger injectors and/or a fuel pressure regulator. A friend of mine has an RB25 with some mods, and she's had issues with the air/feul ratio, which has really killed her power output. Cheers
  11. R32 GTS RB20DE Custom CAI, air box and pod (v. loud) 6-2-1 Extractors 2 1/4 exhaust with three bullet type mufflers (quite loud) Dyno tune with plenty of timing advance 120rwkw @6400rpm
  12. Cheers. Yes it is a high mount stoplight, I hate the ones that stick inside the rear window so I got this done. Got a good panel beater and car painter, the light looks stock from the inside too! It's off a pulsar of some discription. The engine bay is my out work, it's amazing what you can do with a can of metalic blue spray paint! It's been painted pretty much that way for the six years I've owned it, jus with the odd touch up here and there. The CAI and extractors work a treat. With that red filter on it in the photo it screams like hell, hence the name goes alright too for a 2ltr N/A.
  13. Just a couple of pic's of my GTS from the land of the long white cloud. The law wanted me to put a high mount brake light on it, so I stuck it here. Been busy painting the engine too, cheaper than trying to make it go faster.
  14. Hey Rancher. Looking at your avatar, I would say you’d want a air box around your filter. It's also beneficial to duct some cold air into there as well. There's no point trying to get more power out of a motor if your plugs are crappy, so some new sparks and a general service of the engine can help too. Extractors can add that little bit more too, if you haven't already done them. Once everything is in top shape, I would recommend getting the car dyno tuned, you may be surprised how well a good RB20DE can go. Finally, and the cheapest mod of all, weight reduction. The one thing the 2ltr really hates is weight, as the motor isn't as torquey as the bigger RB's. A light R32 GTS can really give higher-powered Skylines a run for their money.
  15. Go here for a listen to mine. http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/jswright/screamin.html It's a UNIfilter and custom intake pipe as unarmed is talking about, it ran 120rwkw with this set up. I've recently changed to a Blitz Superpower LM filter, because it is a dry filter and I was sick of cleaning my air flow meter, and I have lost a little top end and all of the scream! Going to put the UNIfilter back on for competion and use the Blitz for day to day driving...
  16. Geez, cheers for the feedback guys. I'm the first to admit the motor is a bit of a freak. It is bog stock internally, never been opened up in all it's 220,000km. Heads are standard and so are the cams. I don't think I said it had been recon'd, it hasn't. To tell you the truth, the mod list sucks! Oh, and no NOS, that would be fun tho. The mods: Filter and cold air induction Heat wrapped Headers Standard exhaust diameter with three coby's (bullet mufflers call 'em what you like) Earthing kit and voltage stabiliser King springs & KYB shocks front and rear 22mm Adjustable rear sway bar Strut braces and body brace and a few nolathane bushes here and there R33 GTS25 front brakes. Custom high mount stop light in the boot lid Thats all I think... not many performance mods really. (gotta line up BADR33 one day! Come up for a visit Geoff!!) It does run a fair bit of advance on the timing, they wont disclose the figure and it has to run on 98 octane because of this. I've owned it for almost 6 years now, just keep it well serviced and looked after. Seems to have payed off, especially when you can send the odd GTS-t home with his tail between his legs! Will get around to posting up some pics for you guys on day. Cheers.
  17. Hey, just another Kiwi here. In reply to your question, yes I have had my RB20DE dynoed a couple of times. First time was when I got it dyno tuned a bit over a year ago. Managed to get it to pull 120rwkw. I was friggen stoaked. It was run a a Nissan dealer, and they reaconed it was the most powerful 20DE they'ed seen. I dynoed it again about 6 months ago and got 108rwkw, was a little disapointed, but different dyno, different day, what are ya gonna do. I'll get around to getting it tuned again sometime I think. It is perfecally feasable to get at least 100rwkw out of one, but I don't think many people bother because everyone wants a turbo. Visit the web page if you wat a look see... let me know what you think. http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/jswright/screamin.html cheers
