Hey guys, well after being without a car for nearly a year now after blowing a big end and not having any cash to fix it, I'm now looking for a workshop to get it going hopefully before Chrissy. I know I'm going to get a heap of different opinions but has anyone had their engine rebuilt lately and how long did it take etc etc etc.... A couple of options were Tilbrooks (obviously), Adelaide Engine Developments, API Engines, and Nizspeed. One other thing... anyone got any T51R turbos for sale??

Don't think it had a carbon bonnet, although I was driving towards TTP and only saw a glimpse of it. Had red seat covers I think, not poxy ones though.

Saw that silver 34 GTR in Motorcity, thought it was for sale - then when I went back it was gone.... Looked tough as though:)

I've had my GTR now for nearly a year and it's the best thing I've ever bought. A lot of things you get used to and bored of but every time I jump in the GTR it's awesome! There are minor negatives - not being able to park it anyway I like, not driving it interstate as much as I would like (fuel and km's), and the general cost of keeping it on the road. If you don't have a big surplass of cash to keep it going then forget it. Don't be fooled like I was, these things are NOT indestructible - they DO break and when they do everything is expensive. The positives are endless - you only need to read a few mags to find out! If you've never experienced a 7,000rpm launch then make sure you do one day!!

Did I read correctly - He owned an R34 GTR before the 33 and wrote that off???? What kind of parents buy their 20year old son a $100K car?? Man that is fu@ked up.

Btw N/A, thanks for the advice. I'm not intending to put anything stupid on my car like a T88 or anything. I was actually wondering whether you could get something with similar performance to a twin setup (2530's or t517z's), just something nice and simple. I don't want something that reaches full boost at 5K, and is a pig to drive, and I don't want to strain the poor old RB26 too much, so if there's no single turbo solution I won't do it. The last thing I want to do is end up going forgies, rods etc etc....

Nah - probably gonna go with a single. Not 100% sure, gotta sus it out but I don't think I'll just fix it, might as well use it as an excuse to get some more power. 300rwkw would be nice!

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm actually thinking of going to a single turbo depending on cost. I'd love 2530's or T51's but if I can get good response from a single then it's going to save me money in hardware. Anyone converted from twin to single? Would you recommend it?

Dean, blew it new years eve at about 11pm, went joyriding on Hindmarsh island..... wish i hadn't now!

blown turbo = no cruise.

I had been running 15PSI since I got the car, occasionally putting it up to 16PSI for the drags and cruises etc. New years eve we went for a strap on an island with long straights on a private road getting it up to the 240km/h mark in fourth gear. Everything was fine until I slowed down then went to accelerate and I just thought what the f*ck is that noise....... worst thing I've ever heard. We had to drive home about 100km at 50km/h (otherwise boost would cause that horrible helicopter sound), was quite strange having people overtake you like you don't know how to drive a GT-R or something. BTW, my car's only just done 70,000km now. And I'm pretty sure they're original km's coz everything's immaculate inside (and out). So don't be tempted to wind that boost up!
