  1. Props to Leon for a fine job after all He spent half an hour on the phone to me today discussing it, and was going to come out tomorrow and sort it out for me until I discovered the fault. I won't plug the name of the business in this thread though as I would hate for anyone to be put off by the title of the thread if they did a search. But if they have read this far then no harm done. Apologies if I gave you any grief, Leon! The main reason I came on here and posted was I wanted to be as sure as I could that it wasn't your fault before I got you out. SAU wins again, credit goes to Chris for suggesting stereo.
  2. Turns out it wasn't the installers fault at all, just a huge coincidence that the battery lasted a week no problems then died the day of the install. I pulled the stock headunit out and that dropped most of the leakage (thanks Chris). Still 150mA elsewhere though (100mA on 'TAIL L' fuse and 50mA dunno). If anyone has any suggestions on what to look for on TAIL L I'm all ears! Cheers!
  3. I'm just gonna see how long it takes the battery to run dead again. I had the car for 6 days and it always started easily, and that included 2 days of not driving it. So if it dies in less than a few days, I'll know the problem was caused by the install, and I'll ask him to come back.
  4. Just had a new alarm installed in my r33 yesterday, but the battery went dead overnight. I gave it a charge, and checked the current coming out of the battery with no interior lights on - 400mA. Seems like quite a lot. I thought maybe the alarm might have a backup battery which would be charging, but it should have been done by now if it was. I tried pulling fuses in the engine bay - no difference. The only fuse in the boot which made a noticeable difference was the main fuse, which doesn't tell me much (even then, something was still drawing 100mA). Are there other fuses in the car I can check? I thought of removing power from the alarm but it's in a really tight spot and all black wiring etc. What to do? Thanks!
  5. Final price drop $4000 or $3250 excluding R34 SMIC + exhaust. If I don't get an offer by Saturday this will be gone.
  6. Thanks I will look into that. I'm going to see if I can get the exhaust off my wreck and repair it. The front pipe and cat looked fine, but the catback was dented and the muffler a bit squashed... don't know how much it's going to cost me. Might have to replace the muffler altogether? Is there much point just putting split dump/front pipe + hiflow cat on? Might free it up a bit without being noisier. Any idea how many dB a stock exhaust system would be?
  7. Price drop again, $3500... at this price I will be keeping the R34 SMIC + exhaust.
  8. Thanks for that! I'll just have to trial fit some and see.
  9. Seems like such an obvious question which would have been answered before, but I failed @ search. My new 33 GTST looks to be fairly stock height, maybe 20mm lowered, and I don't plan on lowering it further. Just wondering whether 33 GTR wheels will rub the guards, or stick out much, or affect handling, etc.? The ones I'm looking at buying have 245/45/17 tyres on front and 265/40/17 tyres on rear, would be nice to keep em. Anyone done it? Cheers!
  10. In case anyone wants to know... rail was bent by the accident. The car's still straight. Price drop to $4500 as it seems this rail damage drops the value a lot... still worth heaps more than that for parts!
  11. Sorry I don't even know what control arms are, and I am not separating I am selling the car whole.
  12. Went snap happy today and got 61 pictures. Download them here or see first post for a few external shots. Hope I didn't miss anything important.
  13. While SAU was down I got impatient and asked on nissansilvia.com... 'immature' recommended Croydon (I should have known it was close), and Bel Garage. Ended up going with Bel Garage to save some pennies. Oddly enough it looks like Rezz's reply to this thread is missing along with anyone elses? I got email notification...
  14. Hey guys, I'm looking at a '96 R33 S2 and I'd like to have it inspected before purchasing. The seller said it's OK for me to take it to a mechanic near Auburn to have it looked at. It'd probably work out cheaper than paying for an onsite inspection like Sydney Vehicle Check. Does anyone have any recommendations? Cheers!
  15. Sorry not willing to separate at this stage, don't have time to pull it apart and sell everything. Maybe you can buy it from whoever buys the wreck. I'll get out there ASAP and get pics. Now that I know there is interest then it's worth my bother to drive there
  16. I was waiting for some interest. Should have got some pics while the car was local but I hadn't considered selling it. Bit of a drive now, but if you're interested then I'll go get some pics. If Milperra isn't far for you, you're welcome to come and check it out when I go.
  17. Ok Kinks, Baconer reckons the PE2 is quiet. Let me know when you've installed one so I can see if he's right
  18. Is the stock system only 2"/2.25"?? I thought it was 2.5"... How about a dual 2"/2.5"? Maybe that would keep the noise down while providing near 3"/3.5" flow. Probably pricey though...
  19. After writing off my first R33 (lesson learned, I won't do it again, promise!), I'm looking at another... I tried other cars but just keep coming back to the R33 Anyhow. Have driven a few and some had the stock exhaust, I really liked the sound of it, so quiet. I'm just wondering if I bought one and decided to keep the stock exhaust, what mods are worth doing? I've still got a powerfc from my old car, but I'm just wondering whether there will be much gains to be had in having it tuned? With say, an R34 SMIC and 10-12psi. Or maybe there is a more free-flowing alternative available which doesn't add noise? Sorry if this has been covered before, I searched for "stock exhaust" and didn't turn much up. Cheers!
  20. SOLD My rather sad looking R33 is now for sale. It is currently being held by my insurance company, and they have given me 3 weeks to decide whether I want to buy it back or not. I will not separate for parts - the buyer takes all. Details: - Silver - ~108,000km - S1 - Stock ECU - R34 side mount intercooler - 3" turbo back exhaust (split front + hiflow cat from batmbl group buy) - Stock airbox - Flashpoint alarm with two remotes Stuff I know is damaged: - Front bar toast, sideskirts, bonnet, roof, some other panels toward front of car - Front right wheel is up against it's rear guard, so something's bent in there - Lots of panels are scratched but some may come out - Airbag went off - Middle rear vision - Some damage under the car but I didn't get under it so I don't know how bad - Probably more stuff that I don't recall right now Stuff that is (most likely) still good: - Engine - it starts and sounds fine - Interior stuff like trim, seats - Windows, none of them broken, didn't notice any cracks - Maybe exhaust - R34 wheels, rears are still good, dunno if fronts were damaged in the impact - Brand new Toyo T1R's on the rears, only done ~500km - Probably heaps more stuff I don't recall Anyway that's a start, if you have questions regarding whether a part of the car is damaged or not I'll try my best. Note I didn't update the above after adding pics so please see for yourself. Asking price now $4000, OR $3250 not including R34 SMIC or exhaust (which needs repair anyway). SOLD Buyer to have the car towed from Milperra, and I would have to be able to come around to remove the SMIC+exhaust. Call Andrew (after midday) on 0422 951 643 or PM. For all 60+ photos of engine bay, wheels, panels, interior, and underneath car click here
  21. You know you don't have to keep reposting. If you just post again in your thread (bump) it will put it back at the top of the list. I think it's ok to do this once every few days...
  22. Maybe on his ninth repost he will actually reply to questions? I don't think so...
