  1. I like that, basically nothing is allowed wider than the bodywork and no I'm not fitting flares mainly because that would mean buying 2 new sets of wheels. I like my 2 sets of weds. I should add though the rear spoiler's pics are at maximum attack angle, it has 3 more lower main spoiler adjustments and the upper spoiler has 5 lower ones as well.
  2. That would have to be one of the ugliest race cars I have ever seen. Granted it a missile but that's just filthy disgusting. Tuck ya bits in Girla..
  3. Yea Canards don't really do that much, actually they only really help with understeer, I took them off the Radical and gained about 1/4 a second around Wakie, wow I could have done that with a Tyre pressure adjustment. I would like to keep the car in 2A open/closed sports car over 2 litre if I can and after saying that I am only allowed a front diffuser that finishes at the front axle. Cheryl is just a fun car now, I'll just run her in local stuff and use her as a driver training car. Yes, I could run the plastic trims down the sides, but they will only work with a full flat floor which would have to have a massive rear diffuser to make it all work and that puts me in sports sedans or time attack. I don't have a problem with that but there is so much stuff hanging down under a Skyline that it almost makes it un-realistic. Just as a side note Dean Tighe's open wheeler does not like aero changes, what you looked at is how it stays, tried different height gurney flaps, adjusted front and rear spoilers and all they did was either slow the car down or make it loose. Malcolm Oastler's car loved aero changes, work that one out. I know I'm comparing a tin top to an open wheeler but where else do you learn this stuff.
  4. Yea that should give me the appropriate down force in the rear, Now I have to think about what to do about the front. I have canards but I'm thinking I'll need more than them and maybe even making bigger side fences for them.
  5. That is very true, but if they are in fact a decoration, as some would say, why did Nissan make them adjustable, why not just elongate the mounting holes to suit your specific R chassis and leave it at that. Also why did Nissan install 4 x studs in the rear of an R33 with cut outs in the trim to install a rear strut brace as well. It's all about looking after the wheel alignment with some better consistency.
  6. Personally I think they actually do some good, I had a whiteline rubbish one on my race car (R33gts-t) and granted that I never noticed anything different in the front end, but after removing it, the strut brace tower mounts were all bent out of shape. After installing a factory GTR one, no such issues. Mines going back on.
  7. Update time, I've actually finished installing the Radicals rear spoiler on to the Skyline, what a fun job on your own getting it exactly in the middle and correct front to back. At full adjusted height it's 15mm below the roof and 10mm in from the rear of the car, happy as a pig in shit and suck on that Mr Scrutineer. I had to make reinforcements both top and bottom, so the boot lid skin doesn't flex, unfortunately the carbon boot lid is a no no. While I was at it, I had the spoiler mounts and both sway bars powder coated blue, the same as the wheels., cost me $110 to get all 4 done, great price as they did a great job. I even re-installed the boot lid trim just so you can't see my handy work. Melinda thinks I should buy one of those low mount spoilers, so it hides all the rubber grommets covering the factory holes, the jury's out.
  8. Hey, Rob, just to clear up the light purchase, I didn't buy them from HN, I bought them on ebay, way cheaper. I was thinking of buying some led strip lights and mounting them on the link between the hoist's uprights, just an idea in my head at the moment. I
  9. Rob, the lights so far are awesome, I thought if Harvey Norman sell them then they must be good, I'll definitely be buying more. I have to work out now how to get lighting for when the car is at maximum height.
  10. Yea, I can now install engine and gearbox together from underneath. The ceiling height and slab thickness made the choice for me, the crazy thing is the previous owner told me the slab was 100mm thick, turns out it's 150mm, what a dickhead. No problem rolling the car in at the moment, no engine or box makes it easy, just get Melinda to help.
  11. It's been a while between updates, it may not look like I've done much, but I actually have. Many many years ago we splashed out on a very expensive Yamaha stereo and I had to get the pre-amp fixed and finally got it back. Now I can't use the tape deck, equalizer, turntable and the speakers were past their use by date, but I can use the tuner. The cd players belt is stretched so I'll have to get that fixed next. I bought a pair of 6 x 9 Pioneer speakers and some boxes, all wired up behind the wood paneling and It's working awesome. Nothing like having tunes while you work. I don't have remote garage doors so I made this pvc pipe thingy to pull them down and stuff me it's a pain storing it, so I made this crazy holder out of a driving lamp mount and some old alloy tube, cool as. Now the big one, I was never going to buy a hoist, but I have, No way was I going to play Skyline rebuild on my back, all installed, working and Cheryl's on it. You may have also noticed I have changed Led lights above the hoist, the original ones turned out very un-reliable. so I bought 2 of these Leier 150w led high bay, will be interesting to see how they go. That's enough for now, time to start getting Zoe ready for the Australian Hillclimb Champs.
  12. We paid $31k for ours, 1996 R33 GTS-T with 56000 kays. True M-spec I might add, not a car with add ons after the sale from factory. Ha Ha yea Duncan it's very amusing trying to explain to them about their cars, I get much enjoyment. One that always pops up is the Power FC, apparently they are junk, but they still get sold for big dollars.
  13. Sorry Ben, let me re-phrase that, I would have to be the longest single ownership person of a Skyline on SAU, Invoice date 06/09/2001.
  14. Listen here you young whipper-snapper, just because I'm just over 62 doesn't mean it's time to include me in your piss taking games. I remember what a keyboard is, just let find my glasses and, oh there they are, see I can use one. Now why did I walk into the kitchen, wait it will come to me soon. Just keep in mind, I'm the oldest owner of a single Skyline on SAU.
  15. Love the wheels Dan, they look as sexy as F***uck.
  16. We had reason to go into town the other day, so while the boss women toddles off to lyncraft, I went to the juckyard. I just love the junkyard. So while I'm strolling around I find a pile of tables that apparently came out of the hospital, the guy wants 15 bucks each and tells me when he was pulling them out he sat on one to eat his lunch, now this guy is the size of Fatz, no bigger and well they must be strong hey. So I bought one. Now I personally hate the GTR spoiler on my GTS-T and I could never notice any real difference through it's total adjustment. So I'm going to swap the Radicals spoiler between cars. It's 1560mm wide and the Skylines is 1680mm at the back of the wheel archs which taper in, so I end up 30mm to 60mm approx shorter either side. This will work a treat, the Radical spoiler is the real deal, with 4 adjustments on the lower plane and 6 on the upper and full carbon fibre with internal bracing through out. So you can see what I'm going to do.
  17. Yea buddy it sure was, nice flat surface, but the only real way to access it was to take the passenger seat out. Why not buy one of those Panel Mount Fuse Holders, actually we both should run a few of them in a panel, would make our lives easier.
  18. Bloody hell yea, pick axe, shovels, axe, recip saw, ratchet straps, you name it I'm using it. I'm now using a sieve to separate the bark from soil. Fantastic fun but it really has no place in my backward. Greta would come into the house with purple patches all over her. The bee's love the sap though , such cool little dudes, I actually help them by trimming off slithers, we are the best of friends. I'm thinking a 70mm deep slab with an extra 50mm overhang all round for the sides, Is that enough?.
  19. Well so much fun, time to install the garden shed I bought a while ago to get the mowers and all that crap out of my workshop and front garage. Two choices, first, the back of the house and second at the back fence. Problems arrive from both options, back of the house has the auto sprinkler system running under there and the security lights are in the way, so that's out. Second is the back fence, sounds easy, I'll go with that, all I have to remove is a 5 metre tall mulberry tree and 3 smaller bushes. BE WARNED, do not grow this shit,no not me it was here before us, it's root system is massive and strangles everything in a 3 metre radius. I will win. If anybody cares this is what I bought 1.52 x 1.52 x 2.08 High.
  20. Rattle cans are a crappy option, over-spray goes everywhere, thought I would get 500ml mixed up and use my airbrush, then I found the paint originally used for the interior and it's still good. Now that's a win. One thing I'll never understand is why I got Duncan to install the auxiliary fuse box to the inner firewall, you can't get at the bloody thing, so with no console I moved it today. I actually stepped it off the tunnel so as to not absorb any heat through the tunnel. Job done. On a totally different note, I have been helping Dean run his car at State Hillclimb's he's on full Motec and uses Mark to do telemetry, tuning and suspension setups. This guy has 25 years working for Motec and has done a heap with V8 stupidcars. If you think you know your shit think again, I learnt so so much, apparently my springs are to soft, great for tarmac rally but not for anything else, I will be changing to heavier ones soon.
  21. Apexi Power fc ecu (R33 gts-t) mounting bracket question, does anybody make a universal mount?. I can't mount it in the factory spot as the roll cage is in the road, I previously mounted it to the back of the glove box assembly using longer cover screws, which was a pain in the arse to get at and am now removing all the Tarmac rally necessary gear including the glove box . Just thought I would ask before pulling it apart and making my own brackets. Cheers Neil.
  22. I thought it was about time I cleaned up the interior, it will need some paint to cover all the marks and scratches so out with everything and started looking at what should actually go back in. No tarmac rallies ever for me now so out with the aluminum floor mats, the centre console the glove box the clock the aerial switch the dash vents and the light reduce switch and like everything this presents more work. First job was to fix the kill switch cable as it went through the console, so I made this so the height was correct. I couldn't get the locking screw off the cable so I cut it with the dremel, so then I had to make a little chain thingy to join it all back together, what a pain in the arse. Here's what I did. I also wanted to get rid of the oil catch cans under the bonnet and bought this one years ago which is 4.5 litres so I mounted it in the boot and I will run copper pipe to it.
  23. Please post your results in your build thread buddy, I can always re-visit the holes down the track.
  24. The thought had crossed my mind, but my passenger door still hasn't sagged so I think I'm safe. Have you seen the price of a dimple set, I'd only use it once and then it would sit on the shelf forever, So basically that's a nah. As Duncan would say "That's 2 tyres".
