This event is being run with Cams and I've never ever been to an event where noise is not a restriction. I hope this is the first. Cheers Neil.
-
I know this question will be answered in the sup regs but thought I would ask in advance,,, will the cars be subject to noise restrictions,,,I'd love to run a straight through pipe,,,ie no muffler. Cheers Neil.
-
You will get to see and hear a red Radical screaming it tits off,,,flat changing at 12500 rpm Ben.
-
Glad we have some time to sort the car out. I'm thinking I'll put the car back together basically standard,,,log book it as a sports sedan and then convert to Targa spec. Everybody this cage change is very important,,,after the end of Sept if you don't have a log book,,,lifes going to be a real expensive bitch. Ben I'm not totally sure but you need to find out before the dead line. I think I'll sticky this thread as I know some of you are AASA log booked and may well need to look at getting this sorted. Cheers Neil.

Stretch is the least of your problems grandpa,,,SAU is running the next one,,,. The real slotcar is entering,,,. Cheers Neil.

Vehicles Use yours, or enquire about using one of our Type R Vtec Honda Integra's with full roll cage, Nissan GTR brakes, H&R Coilovers at an extra cost. I'm interested in doing one of your events and using your car. My question though is what happens if I pay and your hire car fails after say 1 session. Do you put me in another car,,,or send me home and re-imbruse me for my loss of fun. Cheers Neil.

SAU WINS thanks to Greg. http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?28/05/2011.WAKE.S3.Y Seems we didn't need my space frame dangerous car. Nice work Stretch. Cheers Neil.

Enough with the rotor bashing please or I'll ring Mr Horsley.
-
Shouldn't that read 6 GTR's and 1 Radical???. Don't worry about R31Nismoid he's just one of the bosses of SAU and well bosses sometimes aren't that smart. Cheers Neil.
-
Maybe a one way valve is the answer,,,I don't know and yes I've seen pics on SAU of an electric primer pump. I'd like someone who actually runs a dry sump system to spill their guts and tell me whats right and whats wrong. Think I'll be venturing out to Parramatta speedway and ask those 700hp V8 sideways lunatics guys about it. Cheers Neil.

I was having a bit of a think about it today and Marlins idea has lots of merit. This is not really just about Radicals,,,it's more about someone running a dry sump. Really if you are running one it's getting towed to events isn't it. So if you were to run a 12 volt heater system you could use the tow cars power whilst towing to heat the oil up,,,get to the track and bingo a tank full of warm oil. Which leads me maybe to a stupid question which someone might be able to answer,,,I've always been worried about the initial start-up with a dry system,,,the engine has sat around for a long period and all the oil has drained down to the sump/hoses ect and now you start it up and the pump is pumping tons of air before delivering oil. Shouldn't the pump be primed somehow before actually starting???. Cheers Neil.
-
That's funny,,,I was thinking I might have to say something about that,,,seems I don't. Cheers Neil.
-
Yea Ben,,,the nascar guy's run muliple small heating elements that screw into the dry sump tank (much like our standard heater sensor in our cats) but it take ages to heat up their 16 plus litres of oil,,,same with our V8 stupid cars. I've been told they spend like more than hour heating all liquids up to temp before hitting the start button. You are right on track with the blanket one though,,,that would be my prefered option. Andrew I no not of this nitrous bottle warmer thingy you speak of,,,got a link mate?. Cheers Neil.
-
Well unless theres a difference in warm-up time between wet and dry sumps then it takes a lot longer than a few minutes. At Wakefield and Eastern Creek my Radical can take 10 to 15 minutes to get close to operating temp. I find I get water temp up way before oil temp. These Radical have massive oil coolers,,,without going out and measuring it I'm quessing it's about 300mm square. I actually like the idea of running some sort of oil warmer,,,in fact I'm dry sumping my R33 and will look into such a devise. I don't know how much oil an SR3 dry sump system holds but my Prosport's wetty is 5.5 full,,,so lets say the SR3 has 8 litres,,,thats a lot of cold oil pumping through a cold DRY engine. This may sound really stupid but what about making a tempory shroud around the tank and using a hair dryer,,,just a thought. Cheers Neil.

Owen,,,you couldn't have picked a worse franchise to play Part Interpreter. Nissan's fast system is absolute rubbish,,,basically the crappiest know in the industry. Cheers Neil.
-
Oh the apprentice has spoken,,,. I beleive he also needs his mouth washed out with soap. Brad is he helping or hindering,,,just don't let him any where near an engine with a heavy tool,,,,he thinks wacking things fixes it. Cheers Neil.
-
Come ya bitch,,,we haven't talked shit and drank beer in ages. I first thought the Radical would get owed,,,but after a little homework and some sticky avon slicks,,,I'm thinking I might upset some tall poppies. Cheers Neil.

I think it's a very debatable question and I think ulimately you are right. While Duncan and my gauges are not in your straight line of sight,,,He and I are very awhere of them and so watch them constantly. We both are using the turbosmart e-boost unit so that can sit on the steering shroud. My gauge system will evolve over time,,,I will be still running my factory gauges,,,so they are sort of like idiot lights and this will be stage 1. Stage 2 will be to butcher a factory dash and insert as many of my stack gauges in there as possible. I'm also thinking about using the autometer shift light but without the tacho,,,like this,,, http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AUTO-METER-PRO-SHIFT-LITE-LIGHT-/200607885520?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2eb52968d0 Stage 3 will a full race dash,,,be it stack/aim or my prefered option of motec. Cheers Neil.

Charles,,,,I searched everywhere to find smaller pieces of carbon fibre and in the end the remote control boys at work had the answers. Here's a link to one of them. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230576472115&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT I'm just about sold on 350Z wheels actually,,,while they are not the lightest,,,they are factory quality rims which I like and very cheap. I have my eye on a set on ebay so nobody bid on them please. Cheers Neil.
-
Thanks Chris I'm very happy with it. Strange looking at that pic,,,looks like theres an abdormality in the fibre,,,a bit weird. Yea Mat thats exactly where it's going. Mine was the test one and I have one more piece to do which is Duncan's dash and after that I'm going buy another sheet and do the Radicals dash. Cheers Neil.

Got the number bitches of said tatoo shop. I like my apple juice and I like it sweet. I did heaps of very stupid little un-interesting jobs on the weekend,,,but this was a bit of fun. I've never played with carbon fibre before and after some hours of working out where I wanted my gauges,,,seems like I need to buy one more. Volts or Exhaust temp,,,I can't decide,,,but I did leave some room for switches and idiot lights. Cheers Neil.

Chris the car looks fantastic,,,you have sold me on those wheels,,,they suit the car perfectly. Screw the weight thats the wheels I'm buying. Two questions if I may though You use a circular saw to cut aluminium,,,never entered my head,,,I always use a jigsaw which is a pain in the arse. Do you use a particular blade???. The dimpling tool I've always wanted,,,I would only ever use it on aluminum and it seems for best results I need a press. Is there another way of doing it or should I wait and make Mr Handley buy a press?. Cheers Neil.
-
If I was a betting man of which I'm not,,,I would put a bucket load of cash on Stuart buying one of the new yanky V8 Utes. Cheers Neil.
-
Chris,,,when and if the timings right I would be more than happy to talk about buying your inlet manifold :-). Cheers Neil.

Oh wash your mouth out with soap Ben,,,that sounds absolutely disgusting. Here's something that has turned out great,,,nothing to do with the car but it makes life in the garage easier. Rather cold tonight. $500 bucks well spent. I've seen this conversion done before,,,using rear shock mounts on the front,,,pretty easy really. I removed the larger factory studs out of my standard front struts top hats and machined the heads down to fit in the HKS mounts using an electric drill as a lathe and a file in the vice. Next I drill out the holes with a 10.5mm drill and pressed the studs in using my vice. Worked a treat. Before After Rather happy with my nights work. Cheers Neil.
