  1. I have 4 standard R33 gtst wheels for sale if anybody wants them. 2 are in great condition and 2 have marks on them but no gutter damage. I only want $50 bucks each and they would make great track rims. Funny they still have my old D01J's semi's fitted but they are years old and stuffed. Neil.
  2. I have a great idea Chris,,,don't use whoever said that. They obviously have no idea what they are taking about. Please get your wheels balanced,,,I have never had a weight come off,,,EVER. Liz,,,what about we cable tie some brooms to the back and you can clean and sweep at the same time. Neil.
  3. Yep I mean Huntley. Quite frankly cams are right,,,if you lose it on that very quick right hander all there is is a short sandpit and sideways into a tyre barrier at the least. I would be doing the top of 3rd gear in the sports sedan (no lifting)which would be about 150-170kph so if something goes wrong its sideways into the sand,,,roll the car and end up on your roof against the tyres. Neil
  4. Well we got back yesterday arvo after a great weekend away. Mr weather wasn't kind to us though. I got 2 runs in on saturdays practice before it pissed down,,,first one was a sighter and the second one I found out very quickly that my dunlops just don't cut it against the super soft avons. The car understeering alarmingly. I spent saturday night thinking about how to fix it. Sunday dawns a cloudless sky and very very cold,,,track temp is 14 degrees in the sunny parts of the track but the start line is 6 degrees. I can't get off the line quickly and I'm losing about 3 seconds from just sitting there lighting up the tyres. As usual I'm quicker every run and I'm now powersliding the car mid corner to straighen them out and driving around the understeer. The crowd love it!!!. I also up the tyre pressures which also seemed to help. It starts pissing down after lunch so thats the end of going any quicker,,,now it's on with the wets and it's show off time. I can't beleive all the open wheelers aren't going out,,,I'm the only one. The last run now has a dry line buts it's still very wet off line so I leave the wets on and line up behind the sedans. I think I started something because now behind me are all the open wheelers,,,they all must think if the radical can run we can to...pack of poofs. You will all be please to know that the R32 GTR that runs these events WON his class and BROKE the class record,,,poor wrx's had to settle for the minors. Funny I was sitting up the top watching with some other drivers and the comment was made how slow the GTR looked. I started laughing and said look when he is getting on the load pedal and everybody shut up. He didn't let me down and that run he broke the record. Some good and bad news came out of this meeting. Wollongong has lost it hillclimb,,,cams have deemed it unsafe after a gentleman lost his life there and will not issue a permit. Very sad. Good news possibly for me though as it's looking like Tamworth maybe taking that round. I'm hoping they change the date though as it clashes with a supersprint date. Tamworth is mad track which I loved doing in the sports sedan and the radical should be even more fun. I will keep everybody posted as I get up-dates. Neil.
  5. Michele,,,If the club needs numbers I will go. But after reading of possible drift sessions my interest has waned. For the life of me I can never understand why tracks days have drift sessions. There are plenty of other events that cater. They invariably waste valueable track time,,,almost always need a recovery vehicle at some time and more often than not leave rubbish all over the track. Now don't get me wrong,,,I love drift just not at track days. Neil.
  6. Well Mel and I are off to Grafton this weekend,,,it's a great climb but looking at the weather,,,I'm cursed. The wets are staying on the car and I fully expect to use them. After Oran Park I know what I'm getting myself into. You guys should look at travelling and doing these far away events,,,a great time is had and the hosting club members go out out of there way to look after us. Shit happens,,,the weather sucks but at least we will have a great weekend away. Neil.
  7. Okay I'll shove my nose in here,,,only because I'm gunna have to help work on that great looking paint schemed car. You gotta love the original. I'm with Duncan somewhat on retaining the brake booster plan. I'm thinking a remote booster on the passenger floor area. The Gibson GTR's didn't run a booster on the brakes or on the clutch. But I see the merit of it. I'll have a talk to our new found friend at http://www.racebrakessydney.com.au My sports sedan uses perspex on all the side windows and rear screen,,,so i don't see that as a problem,,,but my thinking is a factory front screen only because CAMS from memory want a 5mm thick screen if it's made from non glass material,,,please someone correct me if I'm wrong. Besides persex scratches very easily and think about Eastern Creek in the arvo with the sun in your eyes,,,you two won't be able to see bloody a thing. The car really needs the same white wheels as the original but obviously not centre locks,,,and after saying that pricing has to come into it,,,,so does anybody know where the boys could get a close to flat dish wheel at a reasonable price?. I like the idea of a side pipe out the left hand side and a great way of doing it is to cut part the floor out following the pipe and welding a box section in. It would need to be insulated. I hillclimb with a Mini powered by a Suzuki gti engine which runs this idea and will take pics on the weekend. But that would mean no passengers,,,so thats proberly out. Enough for now,,,need more beer Neil.
  8. Yea buddy GP track,,,natsoft has me at 1.43.99. I'm stoked with that. Jason,,,you should see the other side of Duncan,,,he takes over and won't let me work on the car. I'm thinking of giving him a list and sit back and watch. Oh then again I will be punished sooner or later. Neil.
  9. Well Oran Park was an interesting Sunday to say the least. 1st session I had to bed discs and pads in so all that went very well. Seems Duncan and I did a great job,,,I was mindful to adjust the brake bias lots to the rear so they bedded in as well. 2nd session I just made sure everything was working properly which it was,,,but getting the brake bias back to where I wanted it took almost all the session. Thats okay as we still had 3 sessions to go and I'm always faster as the day goes on. Sitting at pre-grid,,,thinking this session I'm going to have a real big dig at my class record (only 3 tens off) I'm pysched,,,ignoring all around me and driving every part of the track in my head. Yah right pulls out on the track and the bloody heavens open up big time. Great I'm on cold slicks the cars undrivable and it's all over,,,pulls into the garage pisses off. Duncans laughing to me. What to do now the days rooted. Most of the cars are now on trailers going home. Stuff that,,,mercy dash by my amazing pit man to Narelan for a new rain light because mine not working. Wets on and out I go for some wet practice. I now find myself in a situation I've never been in,,,sure I've raced bikes in the wet but not a 400 kilo car on wets with tons of horsepower. Everytime I get on the throttle it wants to swap ends. Oh and I'm forgetting my visor is now fogged and can't see a bloody thing. I resort to flipping it up between slides and a quickly wiping with the back of my hand. Only on the last lap I mistakenly don't close the visor completely and to my amazement I now have a clear view. 4th session and I'm up straight away so I now have some warmth in the tyres,,,not much but some. It's still pissing down but now I can see,,,I'm much more in control and am shocked at how much grip warm wets have on a soaking wet track actually have. Sure I can still swap ends but it's now fun. I have no bad moments and did my quickest wet lap. I really should have gone out again for more but I was getting cocky and knew i would hit something so I smartly parked it. Extra Special thanks have to go to Mel for all her work(breakfast and lunch) and to Duncan for looking after me and the car. I could not have done it without the pair of you. Nice to meet you Dave and Brian same to you buddy and thanks for the pics of the Radical Neil.
  10. Nice,,,I'm impressed,,,go on tell me you have more in ya. LOL. Looking at the field do you go out with the sedans?. Neil.
  11. Your a special kind a guy Jase in that special kind of way. Actually I tend to slap people for kerb hopping these days,,,it tends to break suspension parts. Just ask Duncan,,,he doesn't kerb hop he kerb bashes. Neil.
  12. Thanks Chris your a champion as usual,,,but it's really unfair for everybody else to have to miss out on sessions because of 2 cars. Even going out with experienced drivers is way to dangerous,,,Michele laps in the 1.05's and quicker and I'm in the the 1.06's with a car best of 1.02 (not me). So after talking with Michele it's better that we don't come. We both are going to laugh our guts out at all your laps times though. Neil.
  13. Wakefield won't have a problem with us,,,It's what you guys decide. Michele and I have already done track days there and I've done a supersprint as well. Neil.
  14. I'm unsure at the moment Ryan and If i do make it no problems helping you out mate and that goes for everybody. I wouldn't mind bringing my car down there and as Michele asked are open wheelers welcome?. Now that might sound like a stupid question but we are both in very quick,,,low race cars with little protection. Neiher of us would want to tangle with a 1400 + kilo tin top,,,we both still have a lot of living to do. We would basically need our own group which would reduce everybody elses track time. After saying that we proberly don't need as much track time per session and it might be a bit of fun,,,Michele and I could do some mini races,,, I'd realish some standing start practice. So If that is un-exceptable,,,please say so,,,we'll still love you all in the morning but we will laugh at your lap times. Neil.
  15. I was wondering the same thing Neil.
  16. Speaking of sealing,,,how funny was it when old Mike waited for like 1/2 an hour while we tried drilling through the head gasket. Poor Mark killed about 6 drill bits trying to get through a bloody head gasket. We all gave up and went to the front. Neil.
  17. So collectively the GTR's did 6 bloody laps,,,. I feel your pain boys. Neil.
  18. I'll Third that comment kel
  19. nah Jess he was as pissed as me,,,hope he's sober enough to work on my car today. natsofts up,,,yuk Lofty only did one lap. Hope it was something silly. Neil.
  20. Out to dinner is great,,,but no tomorrow sucks,,,, I hate GTR's. Neil.
  21. No probs buddy,,,I wasn't cold but then again I did all the hard work. I gotta love ya style though,,,just a quick shock change turns into rear arm changes as well ya bastard. If you hadn't sat there drinking and lazing around talking shit it would have been finished straight after dinner. lucky for me you don't smoke or nothing would have happened. Lofty just pick the sportys off one by one,,,most are un-reliable old girls and come Sunday arvo you could well be kicking some big arses. Semi's at E/C will be interesting. Neil.
  22. Chris I don't think they are gel coated,,,they are mainly dive planes and wheel vents. The blaster I have is one of those tabletop chinese ones you find at Hare & Forbes. It's no industrial type unit just small and simple. They recommend 80psi and it seems to work great on steel stuff. I used it to blast some race wheels and it was great. I have no idea what grit the sand is,,,my father in law had it in his garage. Neil.
  23. But it wasn't in the driveway mate ,,,it was in the garage which you don't have. I can still taste the oil. Neil.
  24. ROFLMAO,,,Yea come on buddy share. Nothing like taking the piss out of poor Duncan. Such good fun.. He will come good,,,we just have to wait. Happy days. As a great man said "It's not my car". Neil.
  25. I need to remove paint from fibreglass parts off my race car. I have a blaster with both sand and glass mediums. My question is will it hurt the fibreglass?. I hate using paint stripper and sanding is such a pain in the arse. Unfortunately I have no part to experiment with and would hate to ruin a perfectly good one. Thanks Neil.
